48 ratings | 2978 views
A storm hit with 3" an hour of rainfall perfect time to test my new poncho from Jteng. Camouflage hooded rain coat that can also be made into a shelter. It rains a lot in the jungle you need a good poncho. 59"L 55"W Where to buy https://www.amazon.com/JTENG-Waterproof-Ripstop-Hooded-Camouflage/dp/B016K7SLF2/ref=as_sl_pc_qf_sp_asin_til?tag=hisu-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=53f4d1d126fe1163bc4db4e60c91faf3&creativeASIN=B016K7SLF2

Don't you sweat a lot under these synthetic ponchos? I personally prefer cotton ones, they also deal much better with thrones etc. Maybe you can find the so called NVA (East German Army) Zeltbahn somewhere, its tough cotton and incredibly versatile, I love mine! Aso not too expensive, though it might be hard to find one. Another opion is the russian Plash Palatka. Have a good day! David

Ah thanks for clearing that up! I live in a mountainous area so I have zero idea about living and surviving in the jungle. I happen to sweat horribly in gore-tex jackets so I think it must be even worse under such a poncho for me at least. Keep up the great videos!

Überlebe! I don't necessarily sweat that bad under the synthetic Panchos. In the jungle everything molds real bad so it's synthetic is better . Mahalo for stopping by

I own three American style ponchos, two Mil-tec (very good quality for cheap) and a West German surplus. The German one is a heavy duty rubber material with webbing reinforcement, probably the most bomb proof synthetic poncho I've ever seen.

+H.I.S Survival the only issue Ive ever had with the Mil-tec is where they stitch the waist rope grommets they dont tape that seam for some reason. Dont discount the West German one either, if you can find some.

I'll check out Mil-tec I'm always in the market for a new poncho. Mahalo for stopping by

Rains here in Seattle a lot! Don't know if you've been here but I wondered if the rain is comparable, worse or more pleasant given the warmth there? Does it feel overwhelmingly wet there or borderline bearable? Also, are there areas in Puna that are wetter than others or is it consistant over the entire region? Mahalo brah. These vids are ono!
Gabe Humphries (2 years ago)
Yes by the Puna coast it doesn't rain as much and it's warmer. Pacific Northwest has colder rain then most of Hawaii. Exception would be further up the mountain 3000'+ da rain gets cold. Thanks for stopping by

I actually have a funny story, while surfing wikiki I was outside waiting for a few sets, and literally paddeled into my cousin who was out surfing too! talk about random meeting your family in the middle of the ocean. He just happened to have flown over to surf with his team and since then Oahu had always been something special to me. I still can't explain how that happened. Haha
BlackRifle Survival (2 years ago)
+H.I.S Survival hahaha seriously, our weather channel gets excited about .05" inch of rain. And if it's misting outside San Diego drivers freak out. When I was in Minnesota that's when I saw some serious rain. Lol. Oahu when I was there had some refreshing showers. I miss surfing the Diamondhead break near Waikiki

We were getting 2 to 4 inches of rain an hour. I think SoCal gets like 6 inches a year. Mahalo
