If you want to check out CLZ Games (free trial!): ▶https://www.collectorz.com/game/clz-games If you want to check out the Retro Collector app system: ▶http://www.puregaming.org/retro_game_collector/ *I am not being paid to advertise for either of these. I just really like the systems they've made.*

I've been using vgcollect.com for the past few years. It's okay, not the best. The mobile version of the website is missing a lot of functionality and the Android app is barely usable. This is actually something I've been thinking about for some time and have finally decided to tackle during my "break" from YT. I'm a web programmer and I feel like I can build something better, or at least tailored to my needs. So that's actually what I've started doing. I've been spending a lot of time building a site from scratch. The most daunting task will be creating a database of (nearly) all known games and keeping it up to date. Other than my wife, I haven't really told anyone else that I've started working on this. So it'll be awhile before I have it available to use since I just officially started on it this year. I'll be sure to let you know whenever I release it. So I'm curious: what features of a collecting app are the most important to you? What do you wish your collecting apps could do that they can't do currently (missing features)? What about the non-collecting aspect of your collection? Do you care about tracking what games you have played or beaten before (like a backlog list)? I'd love to hear your opinions. Thanks!

Dude, that's so awesome! Seriously cool news to hear. For me, I guess I'd say that the most important features are: 1. Reliability/Stability -- I've tried out a few that crash frequently and just became tedious to use because of performance. 2. Good search and customization. 3. Speed. 4. Clean, inviting UI. I think this is one of the reasons I've stuck with CLZ Games so long. It's fun to use, in no small part because it looks really good. While I don't really keep a backlog list, I *do* keep track of the games that I play and complete each year. However, I've been doing that within Evernote since I began because it's quick, easy, and I can pull it up anywhere. If there were things like "Games I'm Playing," "Games I Completed" sections within the app I was using I would be thrilled, especially if it could show me, by year/date, what games I finished. That would really be cool, and I think there'd be opportunities to break out some of the data within that, like how many titles per publisher or developer, genre, console, etc. (Probably more of a long-term "nice-to-have," but still. 🤓)

I think gameye is the best since it’s free, and the most comprehensive and has the most options. And Harrison the creator/web programmer is extremely helpful. It has barcode scanner and multiple other options with links to price charting, eBay sold listings and other websites also

That's great to hear. I hadn't known about Gameye until publishing this video, but it sounds like a solid solution. I'll have to download it and try it out!
Yay! More Chops! I use collection.gamevaluenow.com, it's really great and free (for now)!

Sweet! I need to plug in some games and try that one out. The UI looks pretty nice, and I like the looks of that "lot value calculator" feature, too.

Hey Chris sweet Gamecube shirt. Ive been using "Sort It" on my iPhone, and I go to the website www.RFGenerations.com to also track it and chat with the community that is there
Cross Chop (9 months ago)
Nice! I've used the Sort It apps before, too, and remember them working pretty well.

Awesome video Chris! Would you know a pure gaming equivalent app for android? I just want an app that helps track complete collections since I'm currently trying to obtain a complete US game gear collection; It can tell me all the games I need.

Thanks Chris, a lot of people recommended Gameye...however they don't allow you to sort by region (say of you want a complete NTSC collection). I emailed the developers and they are looking for a solution to be able to do that. So we'll see what happens.

I haven’t personally used it, but it looks like the Gameye app recently became available for Android. I don’t know how its Game Gear support is, but it appears to be free, so it could be worth checking out!

I have been using GameEye for almost a year, and i have been pretty happy with it so far! Great info, i need to check those apps out too.
Cross Chop (9 months ago)
Nice! I should try out that one as well. Thanks, Shane!
