Bizline - Ep34C03 Translation and interpretation technology evolves with ICT
Subscribe:http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=arirangtoday Thanks to a development in translation and interpretation technology, people can now talk to foreigners in real time even if they don't speak the languages. Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, or ETRI, has developed a real time automatic interpretation application 'Genie Talk' which recognizes voice and shows texts in a foreign language translated via the central server and communication. Genie Talk's automatic translation quality is the world's top level, more than 15% better than Google translation. Genie Talk is slated to add translation services for eight more languages, including Chinese, Russian and German, by the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, ETRI has also developed a multilanguage broadcasting service technology for multicultural families. Several foreigners watching the same TV can choose the language using the multilanguage service icon on TV screen. By putting on the ear phones connected to smartphones, they can listen to voices in their native language. Support for all the languages in the world will also be possible when a content is made in the future. We introduce you the translation and interpretation service evolving day by day with ICT technologies.

All of the psychics are examined and verified, each psychic has a thorough user intro. Our psychics having been chosen by our remarkably skilled Master Psychic Supervisor Executives, which happen to be extremely remarkable when the mediums come to their emotional being. A unique list of our psychics are knowledgeable in spells, tarot readings, telepathy, empathy & many other clairvoyant properties all the way to astrology to dream interpretation. Our clairvoyant spiritual local community system is bound to simply be thoughtful men & women, we're all here to make an effort to give hope to a mourning or uneasy person. We've been around several years and we're here to become the genuine and trustworthy clairvoyant circle you've been searching for. Generally speaking, how a psychic system screens their psychics will determine how much you can count on from the mediums. The system has a number of clairvoyants that can give sound psychic assistance to the individuals who phone them. Unlike many psychics which can be foretelling of a severe and serious perspective for 2012 we realize better and realize that presenting an individual dreadful announcements will undoubtedly help develop it in their reality in some manner. Being that any one's reading is obviously up for interpretation, our psychic advisors can help guide you to see the light and the good in every single reading! Faith in mediums is usually not only spiritually but psychologically hazardous as we said before if they're reading your cards or even your charts (or perhaps your mind) under the influence of being dim and dreadful themselves. Unbiased mediums can provide some of the most useful readings but, psychics that are not can provide some of the most useless readings in your life, that yet again is the reason why social spiritual clairvoyant events are so extremely impressive and powerful! Our psychics can help you with most of the conditions you face in daily life, but only after our mediums have undergone many fastidious meetings to make certain they are up to our benchmarks. Mediums are merely ordinary folks that deliver advice to anybody that comes to them, this is the reason in addition they gathered to build a spiritual medium reading community for those who are interested in experiencing seeing their inner self in addition to their true inner emotions towards life.

Renditions Distinguished Lecture Series on Literary Translation--David Pollard
Renditions was launched by the Research Centre for Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1973. This biannual academic journal of Chinese literature in English translation has published eighty issues to date, and is widely recognised as the best and most important journal of its kind. The new lecture series is an annual event that invites key figures in literary translation to talk about their experiences in the field. Admission for the lecture is free, and all are welcome to attend. It is our great hope that Renditions Distinguished Lecture Series on Literary Translation will, together with Renditions publications, reinforce Renditions' founding goals: to give western readers the chance to read Chinese work of literary art and the humanities, and to discuss and demonstrate the art of literary translation.

The Anunnaki Creation Story: The Biggest Secret in Human History - Nibiru is Coming
445 000 years ago, “creator gods” – as they call it – came to Earth. They were called the Anunnaki, which means “Those Who from Heaven to Earth Came”. These beings inhabited a distant orbiting planet called Nibiru, which only entered our solar system every 3,600 years. They describe Nibiru as many times the diameter of Earth, and abundant with iron oxide, making its rivers and lakes appear red. A side note about Nibiru: according to the Sumerian tablets, Nibiru’s atmosphere began to deteriorate and became a hostile place for life, and in order to restore it, the Annunaki needed one important element for their atmosphere: gold. Susan Gillespie, "The Possibility of Translation"
November 2nd, 2018 Pittsburgh, PA Susan Gillespie on "The Possibility of Translation" as part of the 2018 boundary 2 conference. The annual 2018 boundary 2 conference from November 1-3 at University of Pittsburgh was on the subject of “Does Attention to Language Matter?” Philology, criticism, and translation are three techniques that reveal the constant importance of language to all forms of humanistic activity and artistic creativity. This conference was a reminder of the risks that come from forgetting the realities of language and an important reminder of these disciplines’ vital role in regulating the relation between meaning and word, between power and value.

Qualitative analysis of interview data: A step-by-step guide
The content applies to qualitative data analysis in general. Do not forget to share this Youtube link with your friends. The steps are also described in writing below (Click Show more): STEP 1, reading the transcripts 1.1. Browse through all transcripts, as a whole. 1.2. Make notes about your impressions. 1.3. Read the transcripts again, one by one. 1.4. Read very carefully, line by line. STEP 2, labeling relevant pieces 2.1. Label relevant words, phrases, sentences, or sections. 2.2. Labels can be about actions, activities, concepts, differences, opinions, processes, or whatever you think is relevant. 2.3. You might decide that something is relevant to code because: *it is repeated in several places; *the interviewee explicitly states that it is important; *you have read about something similar in reports, e.g. scientific articles; *it reminds you of a theory or a concept; *or for some other reason that you think is relevant. You can use preconceived theories and concepts, be open-minded, aim for a description of things that are superficial, or aim for a conceptualization of underlying patterns. It is all up to you. It is your study and your choice of methodology. You are the interpreter and these phenomena are highlighted because you consider them important. Just make sure that you tell your reader about your methodology, under the heading Method. Be unbiased, stay close to the data, i.e. the transcripts, and do not hesitate to code plenty of phenomena. You can have lots of codes, even hundreds. STEP 3, decide which codes are the most important, and create categories by bringing several codes together 3.1. Go through all the codes created in the previous step. Read them, with a pen in your hand. 3.2. You can create new codes by combining two or more codes. 3.3. You do not have to use all the codes that you created in the previous step. 3.4. In fact, many of these initial codes can now be dropped. 3.5. Keep the codes that you think are important and group them together in the way you want. 3.6. Create categories. (You can call them themes if you want.) 3.7. The categories do not have to be of the same type. They can be about objects, processes, differences, or whatever. 3.8. Be unbiased, creative and open-minded. 3.9. Your work now, compared to the previous steps, is on a more general, abstract level. You are conceptualizing your data. STEP 4, label categories and decide which are the most relevant and how they are connected to each other 4.1. Label the categories. Here are some examples: Adaptation (Category) Updating rulebook (sub-category) Changing schedule (sub-category) New routines (sub-category) Seeking information (Category) Talking to colleagues (sub-category) Reading journals (sub-category) Attending meetings (sub-category) Problem solving (Category) Locate and fix problems fast (sub-category) Quick alarm systems (sub-category) 4.2. Describe the connections between them. 4.3. The categories and the connections are the main result of your study. It is new knowledge about the world, from the perspective of the participants in your study. STEP 5, some options 5.1. Decide if there is a hierarchy among the categories. 5.2. Decide if one category is more important than the other. 5.3. Draw a figure to summarize your results. STEP 6, write up your results 6.1. Under the heading Results, describe the categories and how they are connected. Use a neutral voice, and do not interpret your results. 6.2. Under the heading Discussion, write out your interpretations and discuss your results. Interpret the results in light of, for example: *results from similar, previous studies published in relevant scientific journals; *theories or concepts from your field; *other relevant aspects. STEP 7 Ending remark Nb: it is also OK not to divide the data into segments. Narrative analysis of interview transcripts, for example, does not rely on the fragmentation of the interview data. (Narrative analysis is not discussed in this tutorial.) Further, I have assumed that your task is to make sense of a lot of unstructured data, i.e. that you have qualitative data in the form of interview transcripts. However, remember that most of the things I have said in this tutorial are basic, and also apply to qualitative analysis in general. You can use the steps described in this tutorial to analyze: *notes from participatory observations; *documents; *web pages; *or other types of qualitative data. STEP 8 Suggested reading Alan Bryman's book: 'Social Research Methods' published by Oxford University Press. Steinar Kvale's and Svend Brinkmann's book 'InterViews: Learning the Craft of Qualitative Research Interviewing' published by SAGE. Text and video (including audio) © Kent Löfgren, Sweden

Found in Translation: An Interview with Language Services Expert Nataly Kelly
A webinar conversation featuring Nataly Kelly, interviewed by Cindy Roat. Interpreters for spoken and signed languages can be found in the halls of hospitals throughout the world. Written translations are used on a daily basis to communicate with linguistically diverse patient populations. But how much do you really know about the importance of translation and interpreting in everyday life? In this webinar, Nataly Kelly will share useful information and fascinating stories about translation and interpreting in health care, the future of technology, and other facets of this vital field. For example, did you know that a special type of machine translation is preventing public health outbreaks, right this very minute? Or, did you know that crowdsourced translation saved countless lives after the Haiti earthquake? Likewise, human lives can be at risk when translation goes awry. This interactive webinar will start with a 30-minute interview portion, led by Julia Puebla Fortier, followed by 30 minutes for a live Q&A session, during which Ms. Kelly will be glad to answer questions about the book, the fields of translation and interpreting in general, and healthcare-specific questions. Nataly Kelly has worked in the language services industry since 1996 as a certified court interpreter, freelance translator, and a member of upper management of some of the world's largest translation and interpreting suppliers, including Language Line Services. She is fluent in Spanish and English, and has also studied French, Italian, German, Arabic, and Japanese. Her latest book is Found in Translation: How Language Shapes Our Lives and Transforms the World (Perigee/Penguin USA). She is also the author of Telephone Interpreting, the first book ever written on the topic. In her work at Common Sense Advisory, Nataly oversees the company's research services. She is responsible for production of the company's research deliverables and acts as the main point of contact for research-related matters. Her research and insight are cited in numerous media outlets, including BusinessWeek, New York Times, NPR, Wall Street Journal, among others. She has served as an invited speaker on the language industry for the European Commission, and was a member of the National Project Advisory Committee for a web-based training program for culturally and linguistically appropriate services offered through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health.

Passeurs de mots, passeurs d'idées
Round table discussion (in French) of the interpreting and translating professions, originally broadcast live from Expolangues 2012 in Paris, with Marco Benedetti (Director General of Interpretation at the European Commission), Sarah Bordes (AIIC-ISIT), Marie Mériaud-Brischoux (ISIT), Didier Ruiller (translator) and Dominique Laresche (TV5monde). The talk focused on the need for professionals capable of transmitting cultural subtleties and nuances in the interpreting and translation businesses. Machine and 'bilingual' but unqualified speakers were discounted as viable alternatives in either field. Panel members strongly advocated speakers using their mother tongue and exploiting its richness whenever possible, as opposed to using a poorer, international English. Marco Benedetti also drew the audience's attention to the current situation in Africa where there is not a single university in a francophone country which offers interpreter training. With the demand for interpreters in Africa growing, the imbalance of supply and demand means that the African institutions have to recruit in Europe. Marco Benedetti called for this situation to be redressed.
