I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. Lord Teach Me to Pray - Apostles' Creed

01:01
In order to help the people to learn quickly the main trunks of the Christian religion, missionaries began to gather these from the different parts of the Bible and to put them together in what we call 'creed'. One creed which is so old that some think it goes back to the time of the Apostles is called "The Apostles' Creed". It contains twelve truths of the Christian religion. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is sitteth at the right hand of God the Father almighty. from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Please share and subscribe. Guided Prayer and Meditation The Lord's Prayer

03:01
Please understand that this prayer has nothing to do with religion. If you believe that the Scriptures refer to real events and real people, I respect that. However, this prayer relates to a series of codes that the Ancients left to us. Embedded within the beautiful words of this prayer is an encoded message. If you recite this prayer with an understanding heart of its intended meaning, you will become enlightened, and your life will improve--irrespective of creed, race or colour. Religions are necessary stepping stones in the process of evolution and are respected. However, the nature of Source Healing has nothing to do with religions and creeds and dogmas. Through our talents, sense of humor, eccentric imaginations, and thirst for creativity, we strive to present the Catholic faith in a humorous, yet respectful, way that upholds the teachings of the Catholic Church. This mission is our response to the call of Our Lord Jesus Christ to “Go into the world and proclaim the gospel” (Mark 16:15). What is the Apostles Creed?

05:02
The Apostles’ creed is the oldest statement of faith in the Christian church, written sometime in the second century AD. The creed defines core Christian beliefs about God, Jesus, the church, salvation, and other theological topics. The Apostles’ Creed probably developed in ancient Rome, in the last half of the second century—a very tumultuous time for the Roman Church. Christians faced the constant threat of persecution. Heresies sprouted and flourished in pockets throughout the church. Today, numerous denominations still use some form of the Apostles’ Creed as their statement of faith, including Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, and others. The Apostles’ Creed is one of the most universally recognized summaries of the Christian faith. It’s a concise explanation of the Bible’s key message, formulated and agreed upon by some of Jesus’ earliest followers. What we believe about God, Jesus, and salvation has a direct impact on how we live out and express our faith. The creed ensures that Christians develop an accurate understanding of the hope the gospel offers, and that we have a shared belief system. Studying the Apostle’s Creed forces us to go in-depth into central Christian doctrines, to know where they came from, what they are, and what their implications are. Donald and Melania Trump did not recite The Apostle's Creed during George H.W. Bush's funeral Wednesday, sparking criticism of the president who claims to be Presbyterian and portrayed as an evangelical Christian by many conservatives. Video shows the first couple standing silent alongside three former presidents and first ladies as they all recited the creed. Ivanka Trump also stated the prayer, despite having converted to Judaism. The Apostle's Creed is considered Christianity's most core prayer, at the heart of the Christian doctrine. The Apostles Creed-The Catholic Catechism

05:56
It is interesting to note that the Catholic Catechism is written and based on the Apostles Creed, which has its roots in biblical traditions, the teachings of the Apostles. The Creed summarizes the history of Christianity and its foundation. As you can tell, they all believed in the "Communion of the Saints", as we do today. The belief that those in heaven can and do pray for us. And we can and do ask for their prayers. The Apostle's Creed is also known as the Rule of Faith. The Apostle's Creed was created to represent a uniform statement of Christian belief. To prevent God's word as getting lost as impostors interjected false teachings. Church leaders wanted one simple statement that would define Christianity and stay true to Christian traditions.Although it is a uniform belief of all Christians, the Apostle's Creed does vary slightly between religious denominations. Additions and changes were made to pertain to the different denominations. For example, "he descended into Hell" is not found in the Catholic version of the Apostle's Creed, but is found in the Lutheran faith version. Why a creed? Some Christians ask, "Why do we need creeds when we have the Bible?" If the Word of God comes down to us through the Bible, why do we need anything else? The answer is found in Scripture itself. In I Corinthians 15:1-4, Paul writes: "Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, . . ." This quote is from one of the earliest epistles, written about AD 57, before many other New Testament books had been written and long before the New Testament canon was finally settled. If the New Testament as a whole did not exist when Paul wrote his letter, what "gospel" is he talking about? Apparently he had preached to them some standard summary of the Christian message, a message he had "received" just as they in turn "received it." Later, in Romans 6:17 he says,"I urge you, brothers and sisters, to keep an eye on those who cause dissensions and offenses, in opposition to the teaching that you have learned; avoid them." The word "teaching" can also be translated "doctrine." These first Christians had doctrine or teaching prior to having a complete New Testament. What was this teaching or doctrine? It was a summary of the basics of the Christian message—of the good news of Jesus Christ. And already at the time of Paul's writing there were some who were distorting the words of the Old Testament Scriptures and the words of the apostles, leading people astray. The purpose of a creed or doctrine is to summarize the meaning of the many words of Scripture and apostolic teaching. Whenever we try to explain Christianity to someone else we partake in this same summarizing action. This summary of faith was used by the early church to 1) evangelize, 2) teach new converts, and 3) protect the church from distorted teaching. Christians today have the same three needs for a concise statement of the Christian faith. How did the Creed arise? According to "the great commission" found in Matthew 28:18-20, an important part of being a Christian in the early church was teaching others and baptizing them in the name of the Triune God. A concise summary of the Christian faith would help in both these tasks. In the table below, compare the version of the Apostles' Creed we have from AD 336 with the baptismal formula Hippolytus of Rome used with new converts by the year AD 215. The key point is that Christians were doing this BEFORE the New Testament was finalized. So rather than the first creeds being tacked on AFTER the Bible was written, the evidence we have points toward basic creeds similar to the Apostles' Creed existing in the earliest churches. . We call it the Apostles' Creed not because the apostles themselves wrote it, but rather because the early churches viewed it as an accurate summary of the apostles' teaching.

What is the Apostles Creed? (In 90 Seconds)

02:53
Many churches affirm the Apostles Creed from the early church or Patristic period. But who wrote the Apostles Creed? Did the 12 apostles of Jesus write the Apostles Creed or someone else? This 90 second (or so) video explains how the Apostles Creed was written in the early centuries of the Christian church. Ryan M. Reeves (PhD Cambridge) is Assistant Professor of Historical Theology at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Twitter: https://twitter.com/RyanMReeves Instagram: https://instagram.com/ryreeves4/

Trump under fire for not reciting Apostles' Creed during Bush funeral

04:05
Trump under fire for not reciting Apostles' Creed during Bush funeral As President Trump stood beside former presidents Obama, Clinton, Carter and their wives Wednesday during George H.W. Bush's funeral, all but he and first lady Melania were seen reciting The Apostles' Creed. Trump is now receiving criticism for failing to recite one of Christianity's most core statements, as video shows the front row of presidents and first ladies saying the creed in unison while glancing at their programs where the prayer was printed. Trump, however, remained stoned-face with his program in hand and arms crossed, refusing to look down once for assistance as Melania stood at his side - both silent. Social media users were quick to point out the scene at the Washington National Cathedral, critical of Trump as he ran on the base of being devout evangelical Christian, appealing to many conservatives. The Apostles' Creed contains a brief summary of Christian teachings and the life of Jesus, with a note of hope for 'forgiveness of sins, the resurrections of the body, and the life everlasting'. It outlines the core Christian beliefs with worshipers repeating 'I believe' in God, his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. The funeral program had the creed printed in full, with a note: 'Said by all in unison'. The Trumps' decision to opt out of the reciting the creed and singing religious hymns has left many questioning the president's beliefs, or if he knows the creed at all. Trump has identified as Presbyterian in recent years and claims to have attended a church of the same denomination growing up. The Apostles' Creed is said by Presbyterians, shutting down some claims that it is outside of his beliefs. 'This is your ''Christian'' evangelical president,' author and political contributor Keith Boykin wrote. The president's daughter Ivanka Trump even recited the creed, despite having converted to Judaism. 'Striking that all the former Presidents and First Ladies recited the Apostles Creed, but Trump and Melania stood silently and did not,' another Twitter user wrote. 'The creeds are at the heart of historic orthodox Christianity.' Another pointed out that Barack Obama, who has been said to be of Muslim-faith ( a movement started by Donald Trump) was even reciting the Christian creed. 'Are you telling me the so-called ''Muslim'' president knew all the words to the Apostles' Creed, but the ''Christian Conservative'' President, did not?', another wrote on Twitter Others seemed unsure of what to make of the scene, calling Trump's behavior 'curious', 'weird', and 'striking'. The version of the creed used at the service was that of the Episcopal Church. The Bush family are members of the Episcopal Church. Seated in order of presidential precedence at the funeral, Trump sat in the first seat in the first row with the first lady beside him. Next to her was former President Barack Obama, former first lady Michelle Obama, and then Bill Clinton with Hillary Clinton beside him and Jimmy Carter with wife Rosalynn. The Trumps slipped out of cathedral after the casket carrying the remains of the late Bush was carried up the aisle of the grand church. The 41st president's casket arrived at St Martin's Episcopal Church in Texas Wednesday night where he will lie in repose overnight.

The APOSTLES' Creed

01:19
The Apostles' Creed - The Apostles' Creed Prayer - Voice, Music, and Beautiful Art I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.
