Click Here: https://www.patreon.com/yourguitaracademy The full scale is more commonly known as the major or minor scale. However, when you learn the pentatonic scale first, it makes sense to call it the full scale as it turns the 5 note pentatonic into a 7 note 'full' scale! To learn this properly we will take a look at the A minor Pentatonic and the A minor 'full' scale. As you can see, the full scale has two extra notes that will make the scale sound far more 'minor' than the pentatonic does! People often think of it as a darker more moody sound than the minor pentatonic. Let's put this into practice and learn our first shape. We are basing the first shape around the A minor pentatonic shape 1, so it should be fairly familiar territory! Enjoy our 'What Is The Full Scale? Jimmy Page Style Guitar Lesson'? Jimmy Page Style Riff by Martin Goulding

04:10
http://martingoulding.com/ http://martingoulding.com/guitar-world-%E2%80%9Clast-licks%E2%80%9D-video-lesson-on-classic-open-chord-riffs-by-martin-goulding/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Martin-Goulding/143694842473 For the June 2012 edition of Guitar World magazine which features Slipknot on the front cover, I put together my back cover column "Last Licks" based around five classic 70's style open chord blues-rock riffs in the style of Jimmy Page, Brian May, Angus Young, Moody&Marsden (Whitesnake) and Tom Scholz (Boston) The use of open powerchords, embellished with single line riffs and ¼ step bends has provided a framework for some of the most classic riffs of all time. Influenced by the blues and rock'n'roll eras, these types of idea were commonly used by the blues/rock players of the classic 1970's era as well as the modern hard rock styles of the 1980's. Big and powerful sounding, these driving riffs are a great way to hot rod your open chords and get that old school, authentic blues/rock feel. For the audio I used an Axe FX II set up with Marshall Plexi Treble type sound, with the drive set to 3 o'clock and the boost engaged, and a TS808 type tubescreamer with the drive set to zero, all played using my 1984 Tokai Goldstar loaded with DiMarzio choppers! (see gear page http://martingoulding.com/gear/). Then straight to an Apogee ensemble card into a Mac Pro running Logic. For Video, a Canon 60D and FCP X for editing. The supporting video goes into some detail breaking down and counting through the examples in a way that will be accessible for intermediate level players.

The opening licks both use the Pentatonic shape 1, which is shown below. Don't forget about the 'twitchy' fingers that we talk about in the video... it really adds to the Jimmy Page effect! As we go further through the solo, you'll need to use the tab to nail each lick. In this lesson, we are looking at licks 1-2 (their positions are marked just above the tab). Use the slow down and looping functions of the tab viewer to really help you master those licks before moving on. Click Here: https://www.patreon.com/yourguitaracademy We have learnt this new full scale based around A minor, but the good news is that we can just as easily apply all of this new information to major. Just as the 5 pentatonic shapes work for major and minor, so do the five full scale shapes. For example, if we wanted to play the shapes in A major we would simply find our 5 pentatonic shapes in A major and add on the full scale shapes. Easy as that! Suddenly we know every single position of A major as well as A major pentatonic! If you don't understand how to find the pentatonic shapes in major then we would highly recommend tackling the Intermediate Electric Course, as we go through this in detail. More specifically, the 'Hendrix Style' unit where we go through matching up the CAGED chord shapes with pentatonics. Jimmy Page style by Sergey Zadorin

01:32
When I was 14, my dad taught me how to play guitar chords and interesting melodies and motifs. I was very interested. Sat with a guitar for a long time. And one of my first guitar pieces was the song "Stairway to heaven", by the band "Led Zeppelin". I grew up with the work of this group. And I still think Jimmy page is the greatest guitarist!

It has some beautiful acoustic guitar work as well as some very classic guitar riffs. There are two things going on during most of the song. One is an acoustic guitar part and the other is an electric guitar part layered on top. We will cover both in these lessons so you will have your choice in which ones to play at that particular point in the song. The performance video sticks mainly with the main parts of the song as of course as I can't perform both parts at the same time except for one section which you will see below. Most of the layered acoustic and electric parts are very similar however, so playing just one of them at a time still makes for some very full sounding guitar parts to play along with the recording. So have with this classic Led Zeppelin tune and make sure to keep those request's coming!! Lesson Taught by: Carl Brown
