CSS video tutorial - 8 - Precedence of CSS styles

20:57
CSS - Precedence of styles The type of style being considered more important than other is known as precedence of style. The order in which styles are placed determines which style rule takes the highest precedence. The better understanding of precedence of styles will help us to create more organized and manageable code. Important Note: nearest or closest style rule to the tag / element wins. Order of precedence: 1. Inline styles 2. Internal (Embedded) styles 3. External styles. 4. Browser default styles. Browser default styles: Every browser has its own default style rules, those style rules get apply when no styles are defined for a page. External Styles: are styles that are placed in an external sheet (i.e. CSS file). External styles are used to override browser default styles. If more than one CSS files linked then the order in which they placed are considered. Internal Styles: are styles that are placed within header tag. Internal styles are used to override external and browser default styles. Inline Styles: are styles that are placed within opening tag. Inline styles are used to override internal, external and browser default styles. ======================================================== Follow the link for next video: https://youtu.be/uIjQeBemGgE Follow the link for previous video: https://youtu.be/zCry11BLxAk ========= For more benefits & Be up to date =================== Subscribe to "chidres tech tutorials" channel: it's free Visit to Chidre's Tech Tutorials website: https://www.chidrestechtutorials.com Like the Facebook fan page: https://www.facebook.com/ManjunathChidre ======================================================== ========== CSS Questions & Answers ======================== 1. HTML5 Basics - Display Types (Part5)

07:06
In this video we are going to talk about something inherent to html tags: display types. Display types define how the tags behave when rendered by the browser. We can use Style Sheets to change these at any time, but each tag has a default behavior and its important to understand how they will work when you are describing your page when writing the initial markup. Got that? # Three Types There are a lot, but we are going to concern ourselves with three main display styles. # Block Block level elements are big blocks, just like they sound. They are generally used to divide content, because by default block level elements begin on new lines. Block-level elements may contain inline elements and other block-level elements. Inherent in this structural distinction is the idea that block elements create "larger" structures than inline elements. An example is a "p" tag, that sections off the whole paragraph, and forces the next paragraph tag to a new line. Check out the notes below for a link to a list of all the block level tags in HTML. [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/Block-level_elements] # Inline Inline elements may contain only data and other inline elements. Where block level elements are larger structures that contain all kinds a crap. By default, inline elements do not begin with new line when rendered by the browser. An example of this would be to wrap some words in your paragraph in an "a" tag. the words become a link, but the link does not start a new line in the paragraph, or disrupt the flow of content. It just sits inline in the paragraph. When we get to styling our document, we will note that inline elements cannot take width, height, margin and padding styles. For more on that check out this link [http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/inline/] # Inline-block This is the strange, but handy one. An inline block is placed inline (ie. on the same line as adjacent content), but it behaves as a block. So it can take those margins and paddings and dimensions. The only tags that default to inline-block are images and buttons. But with css, later on we will see that we can change any element to inline-block if we want to. Check out the link below for more information on inline-block [http://www.impressivewebs.com/inline-block/] # Display None & Table and others... There are other default display types that all have their little display behavior quirks; like display:table, or display:none. And there are a lot of interesting display methods on the horizon in css3, but today we wanted to just talk about how the html tags cary certain display types by default.

Difference Between Inline and Block Elements CSS

05:52
Block vs inline explained. Why not both? When to use it, how to transform one in another and much more in this tutorial. Follow the wisdom of Tech Tzu: https://twitter.com/Tech_Tzu https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013382105892&fref=ts Project Resources: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ydkkkcar8z6685c/Inline_vs_Block_elements_-_by_Tech_Tzu.zip Tools: Brackets, FREE code editor http://brackets.io/ Emmet, super speed coding addon http://emmet.io/ Beautify, turning your ugly code into beautiful script https://github.com/brackets-beautify/brackets-beautify Transcription: Okay let's understand what is the difference between inline and block elements, it's very important to understand the difference so we can easily manipulate your HTML file and CSS files. And your website layout in general. Okay. Inline elements are basically elements that flow, that flows one after each other, for example, add one p tag and add some text inside, as you can see we can add our span, which is an in-line element and says this is span and you can see that our text is inside the text it this text wrap its around, so nothing special, you just add some in-line elements. For example, let's add the big is this is an inline element and say this is big text, and that's it. Inline elements are elements that are inside the text and the text flows around them. Okay, let's move to block elements. Block elements are, for example, our div is a block element and I will explain on this example. Let's add to our div some styling, some styling, I prepare some styles over here in the comment just cut it inside add some width to be 100 pixels, and the height also, and background color to be white. Just to add hex code... and now we can see our div element. For example, if you add, we can add in the span elements, we can add another span element, for example, this is a big text big, we just copy and paste it and it will be in a line, but if we add another div elements, just copy this one here, it will go in another line. Just add some margin so we can better see margin to be up 20 pixels. Okay, so we can see our, our div element so let's add another div element. okay, there's another div element. As you can see the block elements are one below another and our in-line elements are next to each other. But, we have tricks, we can just mash up some these things, and just let's say that are div elements, which are naturally block elements, let's say display, display inline, so they act like inline elements. And what happened? As you can see something is wrong. And that's because inline elements don't support height and width of the elements. Just check this out: if we add to our big, just say it's add to our big element, let's add height for example 100 pixels nothing happens. Width also 100 pixels nothing happens. Because inline elements don't support width and height, but block elements do, so we just need to display these like inline-block. As you can see now our elements are acting just like in-line elements, just like this one, and that but there block elements. What will happen if we add to our in-line elements display to be displayed like a block? They will just fall down ok? I will just add background color so we can see better. And as you can see we changed to block height in the width now have a purpose and we had these white background block but if we add inline-block they will flow next to each other the flow next to each other. So the main difference between the div and in-line between the block and in-line elements is that in-line in line with text and block acts as a block and just add display in-line block or display block to change behavior of that element. So everything can be in-line and everything can be a block element by just by adding these rule display. And this is it, thank you for watching and bye-bye.

CSS Clearfix

There is an old CSS technique called "clearfix". This was a technique used to solve the problem where an element that is floated has no height. If you want the content following the floated items to always sit below the floated elements then you could either add some CSS to the following element or use the clearfix technique. CSS Display Property in HINDI - How to use CSS Display in HTML?

10:44
Hello Friends.. today in this video i have explained the complete concept of CSS Display .. How to use CSS Display property in HTML? CSS display is the most important property of CSS which is used to control the layout of the element. It specifies how the element is displayed. Every element has a default display value according to its nature. Every element on the webpage is a rectangular box and the CSS property defines the behavior of that rectangular box. Syntax display:value; CSS display values There are following CSS display values which are commonly used. display: inline; display: inline-block; display: block; display: none; CSS display inline The inline element takes the required width only. It doesn't force the line break so the flow of text doesn't break in inline example. CSS display inline-block The CSS display inline-block element is very similar to inline element but the difference is that you are able to set the width and height. CSS display block The CSS display block element takes as much as horizontal space as they can. Means the block element takes the full available width. They make a line break before and after them. CSS display none The "none" value totally removes the element from the page. It will not take any space. Hope you guys like the video,if you have any other query ,please let me know. Thanks for watching.. Please Like ,share and Subscribe the channel.. JAI HIND!!

HTML5 Tutorial for Beginners | 13. Block vs Inline Elements (Display) - Making Websites

04:59
HTML5 Tutorial for Beginners | 13. Block vs Inline Elements (Display) - Making Websites In this HTML tutorial, you will learn more about displaying HTML elements. Each display has block or inline display setting (there are others, but lets start with these most-important ones). Block elements have a line break before and after them, like paragraphs. Inline elements do not have a line break, thus come after the text on the same line. An example of this is a copyright symbol. That is usually displayed inline. Copyright symbols are not generally displayed on their own lines. Images, by default in HTML, are inline elements. HTML video tutorial - 16 - Block level tags vs Inline level tags

08:00
HTML - Block level tags vs Inline level tags It is important to know how html tags behave on the browser. That is how they display content on the browser and how much amount of space they occupy on the browser. This knowledge will help you when you start laying out your content on the browser. html block level tag: If an html tag always displays the content on the new fresh line and occupies the complete available width of its parent tag, then such html tag is known as block level tag. Ex: heading tags, p, div etc. html inline level tag: If an html tag occupies the exact amount of space required to display the content on the browser, and will not move the content to the new line, then such html tag is known as inline tag. (i.e. It puts the content on the same line and wont take any extra space on the browser.) Ex: b, u, i, font, span etc. Example Code: <html> <head> <title> Block level vs Inline level tags </title> </head> <body> <h1>Hi HTML!</h1> Hi <u>HTML!</u> Hi HTML! </body> </html> ======================================================== Follow the link for next video: https://youtu.be/FSrVNvLyDdk Follow the link for previous video: https://youtu.be/s1jmDbZyEms ========= For more benefits & Be up to date =================== Subscribe to "chidres tech tutorials" channel: it's free Visit to Chidre's Tech Tutorials website: https://www.chidrestechtutorials.com Like the Facebook fan page: https://www.facebook.com/ManjunathChidre ======================================================== ========== HTML Questions & Answers ====================== 1. css id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class

06:22
css3 id vs class attributes, when to use id and when to use class, difference between id and class in css css benefits of using class over id, css3 benefits of using id over class, html id vs class, css id vs class, html class vs id, css class vs id, The Difference Between ID and Class, id vs class tutorial, difference between id and class tutorial,The Difference Between class and id HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript Tutorials , lessons with examples. Techsith.com id vs class more of a design related question and its a very important one. Overall you will be using more classes then ids. id: think of element that is unique. there is only one id per element. your html validateor would throw and en error if you do use it which means you will not be reusing the same style anywhere else. all the main containers in your HTMLs you should use id because you are not going to repete them . That doesnt mean that you cant use class there. advantage of using is for is as your main namespace. for css this way you can segregate work so your css doesn't messup. for example #leftContainer .button { color:red} which mean all the botton in the left containers are red. class: you can used them freely. any common styles you can define as class. as you can have multiple classes for the same element. and mix and match of the classes will make your css small . for example you can create two divs with same color but diffrent font sizes. Dont forget the attributes. actually id and class are attributes wich special meaning. and you can create your own custome attributes. like myattr. Platforms like angularjs uses them freely. overall i thin its better to use classes then ids especially when you working in a team envirement where you are responsible for a partial html . using id can be riskier if someone else is using the same id in the other part of the html . in css id has higher priority than class for example .....

07 Web Designing - Block level elements vs Inline element

09:46
Web Designing - Block level elements vs Inline element HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) elements are usually either "block-level" elements or "inline" elements Block-level Elements --A block-level element always starts on a new line and takes up the full width available (stretches out to the left and right as far as it can). --By default, block-level elements begin on new lines, for example h1 - h6 p blockquote Inline Elements --An inline element does not start on a new line and only takes up as much width as necessary. --but inline elements can start anywhere in a line. a,img,i,b,strong,em,q

03 HTML5 - CSS3 - Styling your First HTML5 WebPage with CSS3

29:22
Want to learn HTML5 and CSS3? Over the course of 21 episodes, our friend Bob Tabor, from DevU.com, teaches you the fundamentals of HTML5 & CSS3 programming. Tune in to learn CSS3 styles, concepts about webpages, and HTML5 features. Explore HTML5 and get CSS3 training that includes web principles, writing code, and much more! Each concept is broken into its own video so you can search for and focus on the information you need to learn HTML5 and CSS3. Instructors: Bob Tabor, DevU.com Founder; Clint Rutkas, Microsoft Technical Evangelist; Dan Fernandez, Microsoft Senior Director 1 | Series Introduction Get course expectations and a brief overview of the CSS3 and HTML5 training to come. 2 | Creating Your First HTML5 Webpage Warm up your keyboard, and get ready to work. Get fully immersed in what it takes to build an HTML5 webpage. 3 | Styling Your First HTML5 Webpage with CSS3 Apply a CSS3 style sheet to give the new page a simple but attractive appearance. 4 | Understanding the HTML5 You Wrote Build on what you learned in Lesson 2, as you worked with Bob to create a semantically correct HTML5 page. Take a look at each individual element's purpose. 5 | Working with Paragraphs and Text Explore the various semantic meanings of popular HTML5 inline tags useful for marking up text inside of paragraphs, including b, i, small, em, mark, span, and much more. 6 | Defining the Structure of Your Document Moving beyond the text, learn how to give semantic meaning to the various elements of a webpage using header, footer, aside, nave, h1 through h2, article, section, and more. 7 | Working with Figures and Images See demonstrations on how to include images and whole figures with captions in your HTML5 webpages. 8 | Working with Lists In addition to the list style tags we used in our HTML5 pages, learn how to create a semantically rich set of lists for creating ordered and unordered lists, definitions of terms, and more. 9 | Creating Tables The oft-maligned table still has a semantic purpose in HTML5: to display tabular information. See the many different ways to structure tabular data in HTML5. 10 | Creating Forms See how to add a rudimentary level of interactivity to your webpages by allowing users to input information via forms. Look at more than a dozen examples. 11 | Form Validation and Other Future HTML5 Form Enhancements Look toward new HTML5 form features used in Internet Explorer 10 and later. Check out the use of new input elements and attributes for creating richer forms. 12 | Understanding Cascading Style Sheets In Lesson 3, you worked with Bob to create an external Cascading Style Sheet that provides a simple but attractive aesthetic improvement to the HTML5 webpage. In this module, take the next steps. 13 | CSS3 Font and Text Properties Focus on the CSS properties specific to modifying font and text properties on HTML5 webpages, and learn about font-family stacks. 14 | CSS3 Color and Background Properties Find out how to modify the colors and backgrounds of various HTML5 elements using CSS3. 15 | CSS3 List and Table Properties In Lessons 7 and 8 you learned about Lists and Tables. In this lesson, learn various properties exposed by CSS3 that allow you to add a professional style to your Lists and Tables. 16 | CSS3 Box Properties Explore the important distinction between inline-display and block-display in HTML5 elements. For block-style elements, it is vital to understand the box model. 17 | Working with CSS3 Font-Face Learn about working with CSS3 Font-Face. Designers rely on typography to communicate and emote, along with the message of the text itself. The font-face is one more tool that designers can use. 18 | Embedding Video in HTML5 Dive back into HTML5, and examine the basics of the video tag to add progressively downloaded / pseudo-streamed video to your webpages. Explore the various available options. 19 | Working with the HTML5 Canvas See a simple example of how the HTML5 Canvas works at a high level. The HTML5 Canvas allows JavaScript-savvy developers to draw bitmapped images directly into HTML5 webpages. 20 | Working with SVG in HTML5 Learn about Scalable Vector Graphics, or SVG, which has been a web standard for many years but has gained renewed interest after being included in the HTML5 specification. 21 | Where to Go From Here Watch as Bob provides a roadmap for topics that can help you take your newfound knowledge much further. Topics include a short history of laying out webpages in HTML and CSS.

Yo Ninjas, in this CSS tutorial we're going to rip down a website to the bare bones and leave only the default browser styles so we can take a closer look. Default browser styles are the basic CSS styles that all browsers impose on a raw HTML document.
