Dulse is a red sea vegetable high in minerals, polysaccharides, carotenoids, amino acids and other nutrients helpful for iodine deficiency and thyroid dysfunction. Like other seaweeds, it can be enjoyed freshly harvested, eaten dried in whole pieces or as dulse flakes. Containing a much higher ratio of dietary minerals than land plants, consuming sea vegetables like Palmaria palmata helps to provide more essential mineral-rich nutrients to the body in and easily digested whole food format. Changing Habits All Natural Seaweed Salt: http://changinghabits.com.au/healthy-shopping/healthy-eating-1/all-natural-seaweed-salt When researching natural salt supplies to include in our real food range, Cyndi wanted to use a salt that hasn't been in the ocean for the last several hundred years as most of our oceans are polluted to some degree. Our Seaweed Salt is a land-based salt with no refining, bleaching or anti-caking agents added. Wanting to naturally idodise the salt using a real food rather than a man-made product, Cyndi researched and added organic Dulse (seaweed) Flakes to the salt.

100% Natural & Organic Okinawa Sea Grapes, now available on https://seagrapes24.com/shop/organic-umibudo-sea-grapes/ Sea grapes, also known as Umibudo, is highly regarded for its succulent appearance, refreshing taste and pleasing “pop” when you eat it. It’s a tropical aquatic vegetable that loves clean water and is very popular in Japan where it is considered a delicacy. Recommended as crunchy salad booster, snack, appetizer, canapé, antipasti, entrée, hors d’oeuvre or a decorative sideboard. Sea Grapes are a vibrant green seaweed that owes its name to its grape-like appearance. The taste is fresh, reminiscent of cucumber with a hint of salt water. For many, seagrapes are the vegetarian alternative to caviar and it lends itself to similar applications. It’s a popular seaweed in Okinawa, Japan, where it’s enjoying a reputation for increasing longevity. Our seagrapes are harvested in the clean waters of the Pacific Ocean (Okinawa) and are then dehydrated and packed in brine. Preparation is simple – just rinse in fresh water for a few minutes to get the sea grapes back to their original size and reduce salt content. Basically unknown outside of Japan sea grapes make an awesome addition to any salad! Have a look at our recipe book for inspiration. Music by: Philip E Morris - Sycamore Tree

Did you know you can use iodine to boost your thyroid? More health hacks located at http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com What is the Thyroid? 1. The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of the neck. (1) 2. Plays a role in metabolism, development, growth and body temperature. (1) 3. When not functioning properly, one can experience metabolism and weight problems, and even mood disorders, such as depression. (2) 4. How does the thyroid work? (3) a. The thyroid take iodine that you consume and combines it with the amino acid tryocine in order to convert it into the Thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). b. T4 and T3 and then transported via the bloodstream throughout your body, playing a key role in a properly functioning metabolism, which is the conversion of oxygen and calories into energy. c. T3 is four times as strong as t4 d. Another gland, the pituitary gland, is responsible for communicating with the thyroid, essentially telling it when to turn on and turn off the production of T3 and T4. The gland is in turn regulated by the region of the brain called the hypothalamus. e. You must have a proper amount of iodine consumption in order to feed the thyroid and ensure proper functioning - either too little or too much can lead to a slew of health problems. Essentially, without iodine, the thyroid cannot function. 5. Back in the early 1920s the US added iodine in salt due to a nutritional deficiency of iodine leading to diseases such as goiter. This was due to people not consuming enough iodine rich foods. (4) . The problem with this is that the iodine in the white table salts is not the naturally occurring iodine and contains chemicals that are bad for our health a. Naturally occurring salts, such as pink Himalayan sea salts, contain trace amounts of iodine and do not contain the chemicals that are bad for our health b. Other naturally occurring sources of iodine are sea vegetables such as seaweed and kelp, cranberries (eat actual berries, not juice due to sugar content), organic yogurt, organic navy beans, organic strawberries, organic, raw cheese and organic potatoes. (5) c. If you supplement, be sure not to exceed 500 mcg of iodine daily from all sources. You can take natural supplements, such as kelp supplements. Otherwise it is good to take potassium iodide, which can encourage proper thyroid functioning. (6) 6. It is a good idea to speak with your doctor prior to supplementation to be sure that you do not take in too much iodine. Taking too much iodine is dangerous just as not having enough in your diet is. A compilation study from the Best Practice and Research Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism discussed the importance of keeping iodine levels “within a relatively narrow interval where iodine deficiency disorders are prevented, but not higher. Monitoring and adjusting of iodine intake in a population is an important part of preventive medicine.” 1. WebMD: Picture of the Thyroid http://www.webmd.com/women/picture-of-the-thyroid 2. How to Make Korean Seaweed Soup (Miyeok-guk/미역국) aka the Birthday Soup Hey guys! I want to share with you the simplest way you can make Miyeok-guk. Make it for your Korean friend/boyfriend/girlfriend and believe me, they will be thoroughly impressed...they may even shed a tear! If you want to keep this soup completely vegetarian, just skip the meat and add a little more seaweed. Also, it's good to note that the longer you cook it, the better your soup will taste. So feel free to cook it a little longer than the recommended 15-20 minutes if you've got time. Enjoy!xx Ingredients - Handful of dried Korean seaweed - 120g of beef brisket chopped into bite-size pieces (optional) - 1 tbsp minced garlic - 1 tbsp sesame seed oil - 3 cups of water - 1/2 tablespoon of 국간장 (soup soy sauce) -- very strong, fermented, salty flavor and it comes from doenjang (fermented bean paste) -- don't have this, just skip it -- don't recommend using soy sauce, just use salt - Some sea salt to taste (1/2tsp and add more to your taste) Thanks for watching♥♥ You can also find me here: Instagram: http://instagram.com/serinaville Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/serinaville Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/serinaville

Stop buying all the pre-packaged seaweed and make your own at home! Ingredients: Unseasoned sheets of laver (dried seaweed) Sesame seed oil Fine sea salt Start with MEDIUM-LOW heat on an electric stove OR LOW heat on a gas stove. Holding one corner of the sheet, quickly graze the laver over the heat source until roasted or until it starts to crinkle. Repeat for as many sheets as desired. Place the roasted seaweed aside on a plate. Reserve a couple of tablespoons of sesame seed oil in a small bowl. With your fingers, apply a light coat of oil on each sheet of roasted seaweed. Sprinkle a light layer of salt. Repeat for the remaining sheets. With a pair of kitchen shears, cut the sheets into quarters. Store the seaweed in a Ziploc storage bag. It should keep for a few days. http://liverflushing.com How to harvest & dry your own seaweed instructional training tutorial video. Seaweed is a healthy source of vitamins & minerals. Seaweeds can provide all 72 known trace minerals, natural sea salt, electrolytes & cellular hydration. Seaweeds can expel dangerous heavy metals such as lead & mercury from the body. Eating bottom fish feeders & amalgam fillings can cause heavy metal buildup in the blood stream, Seaweeds can also rid the body of excess fluoride, chloride & bromide from tap water. Fluoride tends to build up in the endocrine system, specially the thyroid & pineal gland. The pineal gland (seat of the mind) is closely connected to the pituitary gland (seat of illumination), these two glands are the physical manifestation of the 6th and 7th chakra. Fluoride buildup in the pineal gland can decrease the production & secretion of serotonin, melatonin & tryptophan important hormones for healthy brain function and third eye activation. Seaweed contain a natural source of iodine one of the minerals that help pull fluoride, chloride & bromide out of the endocrine system as well as heavy metals such as lead and mercury. KELP - is the highest source of natural iodine than any other plant or sea vegetable on this planet. 1 tbsp of kelp provides approximately 2000 mg iodine Here are some other foods that help pull toxins and heavy metals from the body. 1) Chlorophyll 2) Chlorella 3) Spirulina (Blue Green Algae) 4) Phytoplankton 5) Iriss Moss 6) Cranberries 7) Strawberries 8) Himalayan Crystal Sea Salt 9) Celtic Sea Salt 10) Dead Sea Salt 11) Atlantic Sea Salt 12) All Raw Fruits & Vegetables Have Trace Amounts Of Natural Iodine INSTRUCTIONS: 1) Go to a clean beach & harvest fresh kelp living in the ocean. 2) Bring them home & put them in your bathtub with cold or luke warm water. 3) Grate off the skin with a kitchen grater. 4) Slice them down the center with a sharp knife. 5) Slice each half down the center. 6) Slice each half of the half down the center until you have 8 lengths of kelp. 7) Wash these lengths in clean water. 8) Hang them up to dry at room temperature. Depending on the moisture & temperature of the air of where you are drying them will determine how long it will take for them to cure. These kelp sticks are tasty & make excellent healthy snacks that provide vitamins, minerals, electrolytes & hydration for your body & cells. Sincerely, Jordan Blaikie | Liver Flush Man

Now you know what yummy things are lurking in my refrigerator. Click here to watch me cook this: https://goo.gl/3A96Zs Bon appétit! 😋 Ingredients (makes 16 rolls) (adapted from https://goo.gl/qRAuEq) 8 seaweed sheets, cut into halves 1 fistful Korean glass noodles, boiled and cut into little finger size 1/3 carrot (small size), julienned 10 stalks garlic chives, chopped in little finger lengths Cooking oil for deep frying Sauce (mix in separate bowl) 1 TB soy sauce 1 tsp fine sea salt 1/4 tsp sesame oil A few sprinkles of ground black pepper Batter for frying (mix in separate bowl) 1/2 cup all purpose flour, sifted 1/2 cup potato starch or corn starch 1/4 tsp fine sea salt, sifted 3/4 cup water Directions 1) Put the noodles, carrots and garlic chives into a mixing bowl. Add the sauce and mix it well with your hands. 2) Place a small amount of glass noodle and vegetable mixture (from step 1) onto a seaweed sheet. Roll the seaweed up. (If you brush some water on the edge of the seaweed after rolling it, it will stick better.) Repeat this step for the remaining ingredients. 3) Put the rolled seaweed into the batter bowl to coat. (I put 4 rolls at a time. If you put too many in at the same time, they can squash each other. 4) Pour some oil into a wok. Once it starts to boil, add the battered seaweed rolls. Fry them until fully cooked (about 2 to 3 mins). Take them out and put them onto a kitchen paper towel to soak off any excess oil. Connect with me! In this experiment, you will learn how to turn a few pinches of salt into a chemical garden! A similar experiment is included in the “Artificial sea” set from the MEL Chemistry subscription. Safety precautions * Put on protective gloves and eyewear * Conduct the experiment on the tray. Reagents and equipment: * sodium silicate solution (1 L); * copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate (1 g); * copper(II) chloride dihydrate (1 g); * manganese(II) sulfate (1 g); * cobalt (II) nitrate hexahydrate (1 g); * iron(III) chloride, a small vessel (1 g). Step-by-step instructions Add a pinch of each salt to the sodium silicate solution: copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate, copper(II) chloride dihydrate, manganese(II) sulfate, cobalt (II) nitrate hexahydrate, and iron(III) chloride. Try to pour the salts in different areas of the cup so as to keep them from mixing. Watch as beautiful multicolored “seaweed” gradually grows from the salt crystals. Processes description The sodium silicate solution can be prepared by combining ordinary silicate glue and water in a 1:1 ratio. When the metal salts are introduced to the solution, an exchange reaction begins, and a film of insoluble silicates forms around the salt crystals. This film is not 100% impermeable–it does allow water through. The higher concentration of salt within the film than outside it causes a difference in osmotic pressure and draws water into the silicate shell. This causes the shell to widen and break. When this happens, the salts are again brought into contact with the silicate solution and a new silicate film forms. This process creates the chemical seaweed we observe. The seaweed’s color depends on its metal foundation: copper is light blue and green, manganese is pink, cobalt is dark blue, and iron is brown.

Irish moss (Chondrus crispus or gracilaria) is not actually a "moss" but a type of seaweed that has been used for centuries in Ireland as a healing sea vegetable used in soup broths to fortify and strengthen malnourished individuals. It is a natural source of various nutrients and polysaccharides, like carrageenan, known for its usefulness as a nutritious thickening agent. There is a big difference however between "food grade" carrageenan extract and the naturally dried irish moss. The whole soaked gracilaria variety is commonly used today as a blended gel that can be added to a variety of drinks, desserts and condiments. Learn how to make your own homemade gel using our basic recipe. Ingredients 20 drops of essential oils such as eucalyptus, rosemary, lavender, peppermint. 1 cup epsoms salt 3/4 cup sea salt 3 TBSP powdered kelp Mix to combine. Store in an airtight container. Use 1/4 to 1/2 cup in a nice warm bath. My blog: http://blossomsandbundles.blogspot.com/ Previous Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo-tBC97m_Q

Hi everyone, I wanted to share how I use dry seaweed to make a salt substitute. I use this powder in lots of vegan recipe to add in sea flavor like anchovy. Enjoy the recipe! Recipe for my homemade no salt season salt: Combine it with roasted seaweed powder, roasted Dried shitake mushroom powder, garlic powder, green onion powder, onion powder, hint of ginger powder and ground black or white pepper powder. Seaweed powder should be 50 to 75 percent and the other ingredients are 25 to 50 percent. I'm adding other vegetable powders to enhance the flavor. This powder also works as a thickener for stew or soup so it's a perfect for vegans to know about not to mention how good the seaweed is for you. :)

http://www.ThomasDeLauer.com Thyroid and Metabolism | The Truth about Kelp and Thyroid Hormone: Thomas DeLauer Kelp, a kind of seaweed, has been an integral part of the diet in Asia for centuries Many nutritional benefits ● Bone health ○ Due to high vitamin K ● Weight loss/maintenance ● Thyroid health ● Anticarcinogenic ● Antiinflammatory Iodine and Thyroid Health Thyroid health benefits are due to the high amount of iodine found in kelp The thyroid: ● a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of the neck ● plays a role in metabolism, development, growth and body temperature. An improperly functioning thyroid can cause: ● metabolism and weight problems ● mood disorders, such as depression Iodine is an essential trace element that many of us are deficient in Iodine is necessary for the production of thyroid hormone. Insufficient iodine can lead to: ● Hypothyroidism ● Enlargement of the thyroid ● Mental disabilities ○ Especially for infants and children of mothers who were iodine deficient during pregnancy This deficiency became understood in the early 1900s and iodine was added to table salt ● Not the best solution ● Iodized salt contains chemicals harmful to health Sources of iodine: ● Sea vegetables ● Fresh cranberries ● Many beans - organic navy beans are one of the highest ● Organic strawberries ● Organic potatoes ● Organic dairy, meat and eggs ● Seafood ● Shellfish ● Pink himalayan sea salt Recommended daily amount is 158 - 175 micrograms Best to obtain from foods as excess iodine is dangerous You can find kelp in dried form, noodles and even kelp sprinkles that you can use in dishes alongside pink himalayan sea salt ● Limit yourself to 1 serving per day to avoid excess iodine or heavy metals Do not exceed 500 mcg iodine daily from all sources ● Kelp supplements are natural supplements ● Potassium iodine supplements are a good option as well ● Speak with your doctor if you decide to supplement 1. Drop anchor and feel serene among softening strands of seaweed and an effervescent sea mist. It's all hands on deck as five types of seaweed (kombu, sea lettuce, kelp, dulse and bladderwrack for the curious) fill your tub, along with sodium alginate for a slippy, softening effect. A delicate blend of citrusy mandarin and orange flower meets comforting vanilla absolute to create a gentle wave of seaside refreshment that works to brighten skin too. www.lush.com

LaLune Naturals Organic Seaweed (Kelp) Powder is perfect for your natural skincare treatments. Here is a recipe I made for an organic anti-cellulite body scrub. 3 tablespoons of seaweed powder 1/4 cup sea salt 1/4 cup olive oil (or you could use almond oil) 3 drops lavender essential oil 5 leaves of dried white sage mix, apply to skin (neck down) in a circular massaging motion, then rinse off. The powder is USDA certified organic, vegan, and cruelty free. It is high quality and has a very durable shelf life. It smells like the ocean, which is very calming, and it feels great on the skin, whether you mix it for a facial mask or body treatment. You can get the seaweed powder at http://amzn.to/2yfvLi7

Kelps are highly nutritious edible seaweed varieties, containing a wide range of concentrated phytonutrients, including polysaccharides and mineral content, particularly iodine. Kelp is a general term used to describe a broad range of over 300 species of brown marine algae that grow wild in shallow open ocean waters all over the world. Kelps are particularly known for their efficient ability to absorb and condense a high amount of minerals and other micronutrients from seawater into their multicellular, thick leaf-like blades. Powders and whole seaweeds are nutritionally fortifying to the diet and can also be consumed in capsule form.
