If You See Square Waves In The Ocean, Get Out Of The Water Immediately

03:40
Watch The Best Story On Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlp659DiW3g If You See Square Waves In The Ocean, Get Out Of The Water Immediately We’re used to the relaxing sounds of gentle waves hitting the shoreline, but did you know that there are different types of waves? I’m not talking about big waves like tsunamis, but a natural phenomenon known as square waves. These waves are called a “cross sea,” which forms when waves collide from different angles and form squares in the ocean. You might have never heard of or even seen waves like this, but they do exist, and they’re very dangerous. The pictures of square waves are enchanting. It almost feels these waves are inspired from a science fiction tale like the Matrix, in which the pieces of the world are about to fall apart. In areas where “cross seas” are common, residents would beg to differ. Île de Ré, an island off the west coast of France, experiencing square waves. When waves from one weather system continue to move in the same direction, even though there has been a shift in wind, it causes waves made by the new wind to run at an angle, creating a dangerous pattern. It looks harmless on the surface, but underwater, there are powerful currents that can capsize and throw large ships up in the air. The reason why is because boats are made to hit currents head on, but if waves are coming from all different angles, there’s no escape. Rare image of square waves. Cross seas also create extremely dangerous riptides, so make sure you’re not anywhere close to the water when this natural phenomenon occurs. Luckily, square waves don’t happen often, but it’s important to know what they mean and how to stay safe. A cross sea covering as far as the eye can see. 1. The convergence of the Baltic and North Seas This ocean phenomenon is believed to even be mentioned in the Quran. In Denmark, there’s a clear line that separates the Baltic and North Seas because these waters never mix together. The reason is because of the difference in densities in the two seas. Think of it like this: Why doesn’t oil and water mix? 2. Red Tide The Red Tide is also called “Algal Blooming.” Not all red tides are harmful to humans and marine life, but it’s best to stay out of these waters just in case. 3. Bioluminescent shores This mesmerizing display of bioluminescence was found in Tathra, New South Wales. These gorgeous nighttime beaches that can be found on every adventurer’s bucket list is caused by bioluminescent plankton in warm coastal waters. When these plankton are under stress, they make the water glow as a defence mechanism, attracting predators to eat the predator trying to eat them. Some people believe underwater circles were created by aliens. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding underwater crop circles after they were found near the waters of a Japanese island. Some think these intricate underwater sand designs were created by an extraterrestrial being, while others think this is the work of puffer fish. It’s more widely believed that these fish draw these circles and decorate them with shells to attract a mate. Did you know square waves exist? Mark and Heather are at the BEST Swim Centre in Mallorca and bring your their top tips for beginning your open water journey. Here are their 9 top tips for open water swimming: - Equipment: Buy a wetsuit that fits well to prevent fighting it or carrying lots of water in it. Make sure you can be seen with a bright coloured hat and ensure you have a good set of googles to be able to see the course and any dangers ahead. - Safety: This is paramount in open water swimming. Swim at a proper venue with water testing and make sure to swim with someone else or have a spotter on the side. Also, familiarise yourself with the course entry and exit point before jumping in. - Warm up: It can be difficult to warm up when the water is cold so limbering up before can make a big difference. A few press ups and arm swings will suffice. - Climatization: Sit on the edge with your feet in the water and splash some on your face to get your body used to the cold water. - Lie on your back: Enter the water slowly to allow your body to get used to the temperature change. A good way to relax is lie on your back and take several deep breaths to control your breathing. - Rescue: Should you find yourself in difficulty in deep water then roll on to your back and wave to catch someone attention. - Confidence: Build confidence by taking it one step at a time. Step one is to fully submerge whilst blowing bubbles do ensure you can control your breathing. - Start slowly: Don't rush in to a long swim, especially if you are new to the open water. Swim to a buoy a short distance away, then take a break before continuing. - Finally.... ENJOY IT! DVD Available on Amazon: http://goo.gl/CZ8zIs The wild and mesmerizing waves of the rugged California coast- endlessly crashing and surging over rocks and shoreline. Zen Ocean. Recent British studies have confirmed that views of the ocean and other blue spaces make us happier than other landscapes. Perhaps it's the feelings of awe and wonder when we look out upon oceans and blue water. Gazing at the ocean is theorized to release a mix of dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins. Enjoy one hour of deep aquatic relaxation therapy - no music, just the calming sounds of surf and crashing waves. Available on Amazon.com DVD titled "Waves of California's Rugged Coast" DVD Available on Amazon: http://goo.gl/CZ8zIs Caution: May cause drowsiness or deep relaxation. Not to be watched while operating dangerous machinery. For use without a prescription. May be combined with other medications or alcohol. Side effects may include peacefulness, tranquility and feelings of bliss leading to introspection, meditation and/or ultimately deep sleep or serenity. Could become addictive. Use with care. Zenchantment brings you the Zen Garden series, and other popular landscape "tonal poems" for deep relaxation, inner peace, mindfulness, and meditation. Experience the ever changing scenery of a Zen Garden, the mesmerizing power of the waves along the Northern Pacific Coast, the transient moment of a cumulus cloud passing overhead, the fragile fluttering of ginkgo leaves on a summer breeze. Escape to uncharted and enchanted vistas of infinite serenity and bliss. Director Milos Kuhlman has been accumulating footage throughout destinations East and West since before the new millennium. Now focusing on visual tone poems and long form music art pieces, he seeks out scenic inspiration as a form of meditational reverie, equally found in the slow deliberate liberation of a leaf on a koi pond, or the sweeping vista of an ocean riding on a storm. "The visual journey all about being present in between the random moments of beauty, while the soundtrack is the soul..." Ambient Soundtracks- Underscored by original soundtracks, Zenchantment takes ambient soundscapes into a decidedly hypnotic, meditational direction; fusing quiet, mood induced textures into a visual sound collage. Together, the minimal soundtracks and sublime scenery convey the fragile and temporal beauty of nature's handiwork in flux. Experience transcendent moments of nature that evoke the reverential and the serene. Experience the visual poetry of life. Experience Zenchantment... Works better than Zoloft, Xanax or any anti-depressant, and no prescription necessary!

NASA | The Ocean: A Driving Force for Weather and Climate

06:01
The Ocean is essential to life on Earth. Most of Earth's water is stored in the ocean. Although 40 percent of Earth's population lives within, or near coastal regions- the ocean impacts people everywhere. Without the ocean, our planet would be uninhabitable. This animation helps to convey the importance of Earth's oceanic processes as one component of Earth's interrelated systems. This animation uses Earth science data from a variety of sensors on NASA Earth observing satellites to measure physical oceanography parameters such as ocean currents, ocean winds, sea surface height and sea surface temperature. These measurements, in combination with atmospheric measurements such as surface air temperature, precipitation and clouds can help scientists understand the ocean's impact on weather and climate and what this means for life here on Earth. NASA satellites and their unique view from space are helping to unveil the vast... and largely unexplored.... OCEAN. NASA Earth Observing System Data and Information Systems (EOSDIS) EOSDIS is a distributed system of twelve data centers and science investigator processing systems. EOSDIS processes, archives, and distributes data from Earth observing satellites, field campaigns, airborne sensors, and related Earth science programs. These data enable the study of Earth from space to advance scientific understanding. There is so many exciting things that I am working on at the moment that I will be sharing with you next month! So stay tuned! But for today I decided to show you guys how to create wave, volume and texture when your hair starts getting longer. The products I used in this video are listed below. Please like and subscribe! Thanks! So I started off with my hair wet. I then got a little bit of Dynamite Clay ByVilain and mixed it with some water in my hands. This enabled the clay to go in my hair very easily. I then applied Sidekick byVilain to my hair. I brushed it all in then after that, I blow dried my hair on the heat setting. While blow drying, I blow dried it up and in the opposite direction for volume. I also created waves with my hands and blow dried the waves to keep my hair wavy. After my hair was dry I then applied some more Dynamite Clay to hold it all together. Song: Oh Wonder - Technicolor Beat

Claude Debussy - La Mer

23:09
"La Mer" L.109, (The Sea), is an orchestral composition by Claude Debussy. It was started in 1903 in France and completed in 1905 on the English Channel coast in Eastbourne. The premiere was given by the Lamoureux Orchestra under the direction of Camille Chevillard on 15 October 1905 in Paris. "La Mer" is a composition of huge suggestion and subtlety in its rich depiction of the ocean, which combines unusual orchestration with daring impressionistic harmonies. The work has proven very influential, and its use of sensuous tonal colours and its orchestration methods have influenced many later film scores. While the structure of the work places it outside of both absolute music and programme music as those terms were understood in the early 20th century, it obviously uses descriptive devices to suggest wind, waves and the ambience of the sea. But structuring a piece around a nature subject without any literary or human element to it - neither people, nor mythology, nor ships are suggested in the piece - also was highly unusual at the time. Debussy called his work "three symphonic sketches," avoiding the loaded term symphony; yet the work is sometimes called a symphony; it consists of two powerful outer movements framing a lighter, faster piece which acts as a type of scherzo. "La Mer" is divided inot three movements: 1. "De l'aube à midi sur la mer" (from dawn to midday on the sea); 2. "Jeux de vagues" (Play of the Waves); 3. "Dialogue du vent et de la mer" (Dialogue of the wind and the sea). Conductor: Vladimir Ashkenazy & Cleveland Orchestra

Review: Sea-Doo Spark - a new direction in the PWC market

Full review/photos: http://www.gizmag.com/seadoo-sea-doo-spark-review/34832/ The Spark is by far the cheapest and least powerful jet ski you can buy. It's also nearly twice as light as the competition, and burns a *tenth* of the fuel some of the big boys do - and it's still a ton of fun to ride. Loz Blain and Noel McKeegan take it out for a run.

Surface Gravity Wave Lensing

00:31
Proper architecture of the seabed enables us to change the direction of incident waves. The initially parallel wave rays therefore can be re-directed toward a focal point creating a high-energy zone, leaving the rest of the sea (shadow zone) energy-less. The idea, hence, has applications in creating both high-energy and/or quiet zones, whichever is needed. The video shows direct simulation of a monochromatic incident surface wave over a region of carefully designed bottom corrugations aiming to focus the energy at the middle location of the simulation domain. Over time energy of the incident wave is focused at focal point (large amplitude nearly-standing waves) and clearly a shadow zone is formed behind (downstream) the focal point.

Your target is a small island thousands of kilometers away in the middle of the Pacific Ocean — a body of water that covers more than 160 million square kilometers. For thousands of years, Polynesian navigators managed voyages like this without the help of modern navigational aids. How did they do it? Alan Tamayose and Shantell De Silva explain. SCCF RECON Wave Buoy Deployment

03:30
The SCCF RECON Wave Buoy provides near real-time wave data for the coastal Gulf of Mexico waters off of Sanibel Fl. The data can be viewed at http://recon.sccf.org/waves/. The buoy is located 2.5 miles west of Blind Pass in the Gulf of Mexico. This offshore site is capable of measuring, wave height and period, wind speed and direction, surface current speed and direction, as well as air temperature and barometric pressure. Data collected here is important for monitoring events such as red tide or other harmful algae blooms. By knowing the wind speed/direction in combination with surface current speed and direction, scientists can forecast and track where the blooms may be going. Wave height and period will be helpful in terms of organisms washing up on our beaches: when the wave action is heavy, things that are normally attached to the bottom - such as red drift algae or pen shells - can break loose and wash ashore.

Hundreds of baby sea turtles crawling through waves, going back to ocean!

03:58
On our last night together, Mayu and I had the amazing experience of being part of a group release of baby sea turtles going back to the ocean. They all know precisely which direction to start their long journey back to the great big ocean; every single one makes a bee-line back to the surf. They all seem so tiny compared to the crashing waves that continue to wash them backwards and roll them over and over before grabbing them once and for all to mother ocean.

It's because your mental picture of the tides is probably WRONG!!! Join Gabe on this week’s episode of PBS Space Time as he sets the record straight on tidal force, gravitational differential and what role the moon actually plays in tides. Marvel of the Sea - Featuring Music by Enya

01:49
http://www.berrytimebooks.com With music by Enya. The successor to "Grey", here is the next poetry film from BerryTime Books. I have always been fascinated by the sea - it has often spurred me to write, be it poetry or a short story. The sea is just so grand and mysterious. It makes you think. The song is Caribbean Blue by Enya. Nearly all of Enya's music makes me feel like I'm by the sea, particularly this one. Hope you enjoy! Also be sure to check out "Grey" on my channel. Go to www.berrytimebooks.com for more poetry and short stories - free to download! MARVEL OF THE SEA A great rock, a steady rock face of silver-grey lines the coastal edge, where I stand anywhere, and touch the little water - a grand little mollusc resides on a throne of seaweed, keeps on going anywhere. I follow the silver sparkle, climb around, hear the gentle splash, drops, drops, as the tiny tassel touches the rocky edge - tassel of the torrential colder curtain of the sea. Take your own direction; just begin and wave your fierce fabric far -- I'm only here to see, finding shells, within the grander nooks. Here to hear, believe -- anywhere is here. May the arm of the ocean drum, may the finger patter. Under the rain, I'll stay here, leave my tread in the sandy nook. This is my direction. © 2003 Christopher Berry

(C) 2016 Universal Music Australia Pty Ltd. Lyrics to Waves There is a swelling storm, and i'm caught up in the middle of it all. And it takes control, of the person that I thought I was, the boy I used to know. But there, Is a light, In the dark, and I feel its warmth. In my hands, and my heart, Why can't I hold on? It comes and goes in waves, It always does, it always does. We watch as our young hearts fade, Into the flood, into the flood The Freedom, of falling, a feeling I thought was set in stone. It slips through, my fingers, I'm trying hard to let go, but it comes and goes in waves, It comes and goes in waves, and carries us away. Through the wind, down to the place we used to lay when we were kids. Memories, of a stolen place, Caught in the silence, an echo lost in space. It comes and goes in waves, It always does, it always does. We watch as our young hearts fade, Into the flood, into the flood. The Freedom, of falling, a feeling I thought was set in stone. It slips through, my fingers, I'm trying hard to let go, but it comes and goes in waves, It comes and goes in waves, and carries us away. I watched my wild youth, disappear in front of my eyes. Moments of magic and wonder, seem so hard to find. Is it ever coming back again? Is it ever coming back again? Take me back to the feeling when, everything was left to find. It comes and goes in waves, It always does, ow it always does. The Freedom, of falling, a feeling I thought was set in stone. It slips through, my fingers, I'm trying hard to let go, It comes and goes in waves, It comes and goes in waves, and carries us away.

One Direction - "Drag Me Down" SCIENCE PARODY - "Speed of Sound"

03:12
A Science Parody of One Direction's "Drag Me Down". Original music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwgf3wmiA04 Full lyrics below: "Speed of Sound" We hear it everyday, disturbances in waves, moving through the air around us. Though waveforms seem alike, sound is slower than light, we see it in the world around us. Like when you see lightning flash across the sky. And it takes a minute for thunder to reply. Or jets that qualify as Mach II avionics we call them Supersonic. Ohhh, temperature, sea level, and molecular composition of solids, gas and liquids, these are things that affect the speed of - The average, speed of sound is, 761mph, In the sea, and on mountains, molecules will affect the speed of sound. Varying conditions... Will affect the speed of sound. Varying conditions... Will affect the speed of sound. When whales communicate, sound travels at a rate 4.3x faster than in air. And when you're somewhere cold, then sound will travel slow, and up in space it travels nowhere. 'Cause sound changes the pressure of a medium, whether oxygen, hydrogen even calcium. It needs molecules around it to vibrate, to travel to any place. Ohhh, temperature, sea level, and molecular composition of solids, gas and liquids, these are things that affect the speed of sound. Varying conditions... Will affect the speed of sound. Varying conditions... Will affect the speed of - The average, speed of sound is, 761mph, In the sea, and on mountains, molecules will affect the speed of sound. Varying conditions... Will affect the speed of sound.
