While not all of them are implemented at once (thank goodness!), I write all of them down (both ideas and projects that are currently being implemented) so I know what's going on at any given time. In this video, I show you my rainbow sticky note white board in my office that I use to track and manage all of the projects for Alejandra.tv. We call it our "Tetris Board" because, well, it kind of looks like a Tetris board if you stand back and look at it. I absolutely love this board because it's visual (I can SEE what's going on) and it's color-coded (I love things that are color-coded if you didn't know ;). FTC Disclaimer: The above link to the product is an affiliate link. The whiteboard shown in the video was given to me by the retailer after I asked them if I could do a video on their cool product after learning about it in 2009. The post-it notes I bought on my own (with the exception of the red and light pink ones (those came with the board!).
This is a first!!! After months and months of filming my life as an interior designer and entrepreneur, my clients are finally starting to expect to see a camera person with me everywhere I go!..and...I LOVE IT! Having our clients allow me to film our meetings means more opportunity for you guys to see even more of what I do and hopefully learn from! I really hope to let you guys in on EVERY aspect of my work life because I know it isn't easy deciding whether or not to become an entrepreneur, or take the plunge to enroll in design school and I figure the more insight you can get to help make that decision the better!! The Off Grid Project Cutting Fire Wood & Lumber Mill Work
Cutting fire wood for our off grid tiny house and working with the lumber mill today. Plus Melanie is painting the kitchen and working with our own garden harvest. I have a friend over to help at this time and the two of us went out into the woods to cut some trees for fire wood and lumber. We are first taking dead standing trees. Anything useful for lumber will go over to the mill to be processed. The rest goes to the fire wood pile for winter heat in our off grid tiny home. From one tree I hauled two wheelbarrow loads of logs over to the pile to be split. A load in the wheelbarrow is two days of burning in our tiny house. So that tree was worth four days of heat. The smaller stuff will go to the wood shop to heat that this winter. We also dropped a larger tree which has some useful lumber in it. One piece we took over to the chainsaw mill to be processed. The mill is cutting very good now that I sharpened the chain. The wood was sadly rotted pretty badly though and I am not sure what useful wood I will have until it cures and stops splitting. It is splitting already along the rotted areas. If nothing else I will use it for crafting. Melanie is harvesting garden herbs and vegetables. She is drying the herbs now for later winter use in the kitchen. Melanie is also painting the kitchen in our tiny house herself. She wanted to do this on her own so I got her the equipment and the paint needed and left her to it. She is painting the kitchen cabinets and off white which will brighten up the place nicely. I have a bunch of trees to finish processing. It was very hot so we had to take breaks. You can actually get dizzy from the heat out here sometimes. I have two trees that are processed into logs and need to be stacked. And I have three more to finish cutting and then stack them. Out in the forest we are looking for good trees for the lumber mill. Back inside Melanie had prepared our dinner containing all food from our own homestead. We had chickens we raised and processed ourselves along with summer squash and beans from our own garden. It really feels good to be using our own resources on our homestead. Thanks for watching. Please Subscribe & follow my daily videos. The Brutal Tattoo Ritual Built on Pain
Tattoos hurt, but for most people, the pain is just a means to an end. Tattoo artists are usually mindful of their client's pain threshold, catering for breaks and mitigating any unnecessary brutality. It's abnormal for tattoo artists to restrain people while they're getting tattooed, or for the tattooee to bolt upright in agony to escape the needle's unrelenting penetrations. Nor is it very common to see sadistic mirth occupying the faces of multiple tattoo artists as they inflict the unnaturally long, thick, shallow lines seemingly without pause. Enter Brutal Black. It's the tattoo project where mandalas come to die and where pain is prioritized over aesthetics. Ritual and rebirth are at the forefront of this project helmed by Valerio Cancellier and Cammy Stewart. They take those brave enough to be tattooed by them on one of the most brutal experiences one can imagine; far beyond one's threshold for pain to create an entirely new experience. selling woodworking projects at the fairgrounds
In this episode we're selling woodworking projects at the fairgrounds. Javi from Javi's Wood Shop called me up and asked if I'd like to join him at Santa's Enchanted Forrest. That's a fair here in Miami. It's all Christmas themed with rides, food and all that goes with places like this. This was a last minute thing and we had 2 weeks to prep for the booth. So we batched out a lot of wooden items leading up to the day. We also had to build a display to enclose our area at the fair. So we used trellises to accomplish that task. There's a lot that went into it. Anyhow, check out the video and the links below if you'd like to support our efforts. Lulu Chen: How Fashion Advertising and Editorial Projects Differ
In Chapter 7 of 10 in her 2011 Capture Your Flag interview with host Erik Michielsen, fashion stylist Lulu Chen answers "How do Ad or Commercial Jobs Compare and Contrast with Editorial Magazine Jobs?" She finds magazine jobs are more aspirational and offer greater creative freedom compared to advertising and catalog work. They also have more freedom to incorporate a wide array of brands. However, Chen notes how catalogs are catching up creatively, progressively turning to a "magalogue" focus that, while covering only one brand, integrates more of the creative and story elements seen traditionally in editorial or magazine work. Lulu Chen is a New York City based fashion stylist. Chen earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree studying design and art history from the University of Michigan. View more Near Peer career videos from the Capture Your Flag documentary series at http://www.captureyourflag.com Follow us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/captureyourflag Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/captureyourflag Transcript: Erik Michielsen: How do ad or commercial jobs compare and contrast with editorial or magazine jobs? Lulu Chen: It’s usually more creative freedom with editorial jobs, and it’s a bit more aspirational, but I find that lately, you know – magazines are a brand as well, so you have to adhere to what they’re trying to convey for their target audience as well, so there’s still that creativity whereas advertising and catalogue, it’s more pointed. But, right now, catalogues are trying to be more aspirational, and actually some of them are looking more like magazines. Or they call it ‘magalogues’. It has more of a magazine feel. There's models. There's models with, you know, their significant others. There's some families, and actually, it reminds me of when we did Cargo magazine for men. We used a lot of – we would scout real people off the street. Erik Michielsen: Yeah. Lulu Chen: Or use friends. So they had that, and I loved it. I thought that was really interesting. So I think some catalogues are going in that direction. Technically, it’s different because magazines they’re trying to cover all the different designers and all the different brands, whereas when you work for one company, you know, when you do advertising and catalogue you’re working on one specific brand. Erik Michielsen: That’s right. Lulu Chen: In terms of merchandise.

Hard At Work On The Off Grid Project
In the morning my neighbor helped me pull my Ford tractor off the heavy equipment trailer so I could get the trailer ready for sale. His truck only had 2 wheel drive and dug itself into the ground so I had to bring over my 4 wheel drive truck to pull the tractor off the trailer. With my neighbor's help we got the tractor off the trailer with no problem. I started painting the trailer. We put a new jack on the trailer because the old one was damaged. I also painted the heavy equipment hauler to get it ready for sale. I let the baby chickens out of their little pen so that they could mingle with the bigger birds and they all got along well just as I had hoped. I had the chicks in a smaller pen inside the larger free range chicken area for the past week so all the birds could get used to each other. The larger birds accepted the young birds with no problem. All the chickens are getting along well. The large roosters even try to protect the little ones when I pick one up and it chirps in fear. That is exactly what I had hoped for. Now the larger roosters will protect and watch over the little ones. Later I worked on the old camper a bit and hauled a load of batteries over to the solar workshop on wheels. 87 - Boat Work at The Boat Works
Starry Horizons needed a bit of TLC so we headed up to The Boat Works in Coomera for a spa day/weeks. Tops on the to-do list was a mini electrical refit to replace our AGM batteries with Lithium. This was a complicated project that was beyond our comfort level so we brought in a few experts. Jack from Outback Marine supplied the lithium batteries, BMS, distribution control panel, Victron Solar Controllers and a more powerful Victron inverter/charger while Jim from Odyssey Electrical supplied new Balmar alternators and wired in the whole system. While the battery replacement work was going on, we managed to complete a few projects of our own. We pickled watermaker, re-sealed the windows in the hulls, troubleshooted a pesky water leak, serviced our davits, re-galvanized our anchor chain, repainted the anchor locker AND serviced the winches. Whew!! It makes me tired again just writing all that out! Once all that was completed, Starry Horizons got hauled out of the water so we could store her on the hard while we went and did a six week tour of Australia. Thanks for watching! Back To Work On The Off Grid Project
Well after a weekend off while figuring things out here at The Off Grid Project, I am back to work again full blast. I still have a lot of red tape to go through and no place to lay my head legally but this will not stop me from working on my off grid homestead. They have beaten me down but I am not finished yet. The batteries are looking good with the warmer weather. Even on cloudy days I have no worries about my batteries when it is warmer outside. I am packing up the contents of the old camper so that I can gut it out and build my tiny home on the frame this year. I hope to have a fully insulated and cozy shelter for next winter. I hope to be prepared for any sort of weather this time and not be freezing anymore in winter. A neighbor has been helping me cut down some dead standing trees. I can handle the smaller ones but I will not cut any larger trees alone. It is just too dangerous and I am too inexperienced to be cutting down larger trees alone. Even with the two of us it is a serious job and a lot of hard work. We were both hurting badly by the end of the afternoon. I have great respect for the pioneers who build log cabins on their own with no power tools. Work will continue on the off grid homestead as planned. Stay tuned. Collage Art Journal Page | A World Away
After a long and crazy day at work, I worked out my stress with another easy magazine collage page in my composition book journal. I love the way it turned out. I used magazine cut outs, glue, and a white gel pen. That's it! As always, you don't need any fancy techniques, supplies, etc to have fun with art journaling. Main Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/spakewithtwang Blog: http://jennswt.com Instagram: http://instagram.com/jennswt (pics of me, my cats, and my craziness) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/msjennswt/ (channel and blog updates with the occassional bts pics) Jenn Swt PO Box 485 Rocky Top, TN 37769 ---- All music or sounds effects are from youtube audio creator library or freesounds.org unless otherwise stated. - --- This video is not sponsored in anyway nor was I given any product for free in exchange for a review. --- Hi, I'm Jenn. I live in a tiny town in Tennessee. I love doing fun and easy art --especially collage and mixed media journal pages-- as a way to relieve stress and give me an escape from my daily grind. I work in a very conservative and rule driven environment. So, these little art projects of mine have become my form of therapy. There's little better to me than sitting down and ripping up a bunch of magazine pages, getting covered in glue, and splattering some paint and seeing where it takes me. There's no worrying about rules, terms, judgments, or anything like that. I just go with it and have a good time.

Work order and shop floor status
From http://www.stdtime.com I’m going to show you the best tool for manufacturing, shop floor, service organizations, consulting, engineering; where you need to see the up to the minute project status for work orders, service orders, jobs, projects. You will see a list of your projects, the last time those projects were worked on, the last employee who worked on them and whether the timer is running. Let’s go ahead and take a look. Here in Standard Time® I will choose view-work in progress. Up pops what I call the airport window, actually this is just a status of all your jobs, work orders, service orders, projects that you’re working on right now. You’re going to see the top 15 or 20 projects here that are going on right now and the status of those. You can see listed here the job, the last time something happened on that job. Some of these have status on them; finished, funded, active, waiting, completed and so on. Hours that have been logged to them, the cost of that project that has been earned so far and then the last employee who has touched it. Of course you can tell if the timer is running right now. You can bring this window up and you will see the status of your jobs. Whether they’re out on the shop floor, people are scanning barcodes, RFID’s, out in the field with consultants who are using the mobile apps; iPhone, Android. Entering in time, up to the minute status; actually this updates every 15 seconds and you can see the status of every job that is going on right now. Most important of course is the number of hours, who’s working on it and whether the timer is running. Down in the lower left (if have this set to the last 30 days but if I went down to the last 7 days) there’s fewer jobs that have had some new activity in the last 7 days. You can adjust the activity there. You can also take a look at the organization. You may have lower administrators who may have access to smaller parts of the organization or fewer projects. So their screen would be adjusted according to those user rights. In the lower right you see a control panel here for setting how the fields are shown. Whether using project name, work order, text, that’s configuring those jobs so that the screen displays properly. You’ll also notice this can be resized. You can also maximize the screen for the entire screen and be able to see this at distance by using large fonts. I’ve enlarged the fonts, enlarged the size of the window and now you have a nice airport status. You know those baggage claim windows that you see when you walk into the airport. This is the status there of what’s going on with your jobs. And you’re able to update it and resize it to the size you like. You’ll also notice that if you right click on these headers, you can insert columns; the started date of the project, the percent complete, the department, the activity last occurred in, last employee to work on it, whether the timer is running, number of hours, the cost, the status and last the activity. I’m displaying many of these columns right now. If I don’t want to see a certain column I can right click on it and hide that column. This is very configurable, allows you to see the status of all your jobs. This may be one of best tools for manufacturing, consulting, service type organizations. Where you just need to see the status of your jobs. You may have noticed also if you go to the view menu, you have employee status. That window is going to show you the status of all of your employees and what they are working on now. The last activity, whether the timer is running, the number of hours today and this week. That’s a similar screen but you’re probably want to go to view-work in progress to see the status of those jobs at any given time. See more at: http://www.stdtime.com LET'S CONNECT! Project Management Presentations: How to Present a Project Plan
Read our project management guide: http://bit.ly/2e1tegp Presenting your project plan to a client can seem like a daunting thing, but it doesn’t have to. In this video, we show you some simple things you can do to make the project management presentation process nice and smooth for everyone. When you’re working on a project with a client or a product owner, it’s critical to be 100% sure they understand all the details your team has discussed. Your clients may not be familiar with your processes or deliverables so a project plan presentation is your chance to enlighten them. The more you can educate your clients early in the process, the easier time your team will have at winning them over when presenting your work. After all, a client who is invested in, and truly understands your work is not just a client—they’re a partner. Also, it’s never just about the work—it’s about the people doing the work. Be sure to communicate that the team has reviewed the project plan and mention some of the items you discussed and how you arrived at those decisions. There’s a lot of value in showing your clients the human side of your process and your team because it’s often easy for them to think of you as just a shop who just gets the work done. They don’t know all the details, and maybe they don’t want to, but if you share some details about who’s doing what and key things they’re working on, it’ll help them to relate to it a bit more. You’ve put a lot of work into creating this project plan, so talking through the details to make sure that everyone is comfortable with it should be pretty important to you. If this means giving your client and team some extra time to think things through on their own, that’s fine. Of course, you never want this process to take so much time that it delays any of the real project work. You can create the plan while work is underway—but don’t let it go unconfirmed for long. You want to be sure that you have an agreement because the details in your plan will dictate SO much, including your immediate next steps. The chances that you’ll have to make adjustments to your project timeline here or there are pretty significant. It’s uncommon for every project to stick to its plan 100%. Life happens, ideas change, deadlines are missed, and plans change. That may mean that your deadline has to shift, or maybe your process won’t work for this project anymore. As long as you’re flexible and can adapt to the revolving door of changes, so can your project plan. Be sure to give updates to your team and your clients as plans change, or stay on track, and keep your plan in an accessible place. You’ll always come out on top if you’ve communicated or resolved an issue early on, or even just paid a compliment on a job well done.

I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.
