A Tale of Two Kitties (1942) - Merrie Melodies Classic Animated Cartoon

06:37
A Tale of Two Kitties is an American Merrie Melodies cartoon, released in 1942, notable for the first appearance of a flesh colored canary, who would come to be known as Tweety. It was directed by Bob Clampett, written by Warren Foster, and features music by Carl W. Stalling. It was also the first appearance of Babbit and Catstello, based on the popular comedy duo Abbott and Costello. The title is an obvious pun on the Charles Dickens classic, A Tale of Two Cities. It is one of many a.a.p.-owned cartoons to fall in the public domain, as United Artists did not renew the copyright in time. It was released to DVD commercially on Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume 5. Even in this initial appearance, Tweety reveals early on that his cute appearance masks a willingness to be merciless, even sadistic, towards anyone who threatens him. After slipping one of the cats a bomb which explodes (offscreen), the bird remarks, "Aw, da poor putty tat - he cwushed his widdow head!" Followed by a big grin. (This line was patterned after a catchphrase from a Red Skelton character, and would be used in other Warner cartoons, such as Easter Yeggs.) The bird was unnamed in the short, although at the time the staff called it "Orson".

LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): First Merrie Melodies - Lady, Play Your Mandolin! (1931) (Remastered)

07:34
Lady, Play Your Mandolin! is the first Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies title card cartoon, directed by Rudolf Ising of Harman and Ising. It was originally released in August 1931. The cartoon features Foxy as a gaucho who decides to visit a local saloon. His horse soon finds himself drunk on tequila and begins to hallucinate wildly. Similarly to Foxy, the cartoon features a female fox character that is very reminiscent of Minnie Mouse. As was typically the case with the early entries in the Merrie Melodies series, one purpose of the cartoon was to promote a Warner-owned popular song. The title theme, written by Oscar Levant with lyrics by Irving Caesar, was a 1930 #5 pop hit sung by Nick Lucas and released by Brunswick Records, which had been purchased by Warner Brothers the previous year (Another recording, by the Havana Novelty Orchestra was released the same year on RCA's Victor Records). In the short, it is sung by a female fox character who would later become Foxy's girlfriend, Roxy. The credited animators were Rollin "Ham" Hamilton and Norm Blackburn (plus uncredited animation by Isadore Freleng, Robert Clampett (his first cartoon at WB according to some sources) and Carman Maxwell) with a musical score and direction of the Brunswick Recording Orchestra by Frank Marsales. 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2015 ComedyMX LLC. Coyote and many other cartoon characters. Looney Tunes' name was inspired by Walt Disney's musical series Silly Symphonies. They initially showcased musical compositions whose rights were held by Warner's music publishing interests through the adventures of cartoon characters such as Bosko and, after losing him, Buddy. The animation studio gained a higher profile, however, following their addition of directors Tex Avery and Chuck Jones and voice actor Mel Blanc. From 1942 to 1964, Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies were the most popular animated shorts in movie theaters.[3] Looney Tunes has since become a worldwide media franchise, spawning several television series, feature films, comic books, music albums, video games, and amusement park rides, as well as serving as Warner Bros.' flagship franchise. Many of the characters have made and continue to make cameo appearances in various other television shows, films, and advertisements. The most famous Looney Tunes character, Bugs Bunny, is regarded as a cultural icon and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[4] Several Looney Tunes films are considered among the greatest animated cartoons of all time, and two (Knighty Knight Bugs and For Scent-imental Reasons) have won Academy Awards Owner Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies - Hamateur Night (1939 cartoon)

07:43
Hamateur Night is a 1938 seven-minute animated short film released to theaters by Warner Bros. on January 28, 1939. Directed by Tex Avery and written by Jack Miller, the film was a part of the Merrie Melodies series produced by Leon Schlesinger and distributed by The Vitaphone Corporation. The premise of the film is rather simple; it features a vaudeville-style amateur talent night (see, for example, the contemporary and still-ongoing "Amateur Night" competitions at the Apollo Theater) with a format that resembles the much later television program The Gong Show in that it features a judge who strikes a gong to stop the performance of any entertainer whom he deems bad. The primary character of this short is Egghead, a prototype of Elmer Fudd who lacks the speech impediment of the character he evolved into. Showing tonight at a theatre is "Four Daughters with Selected Shorts". Throughout the performance, members of the audience do some miscellaneous gags while Egghead keeps interrupting by singing "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain" and getting dragged offstage. After a brief orchestra played by the conductor rather than the musicians, comes talented pianist Maestro Palawitski, but he instead inserts a nickel in the piano to play for him. For that, the performance judge rejects him. Next up is a divo penguin, but he too is rejected. Next, Hindumystic Swamiriver has his sword-through-the-basket act with Egghead as the volunteer, but Egghead doesn't emerge after the act. Next is the ballerina flea, Teeny-Tiny-Teensy-Tinny-Tinny-Tin reciting "Mary Had a Little Lamb", but she as well is rejected. For the next act, Fleabag McFoodle gives instructions to his highly trained dog, but he is nevertheless rejected. Then there is a Hamlet acting fox who is shunned by a member of the audience who throws tomatoes and is thus rejected. The closing act is the balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet played by two chickens, to which Romeo knocks out an obnoxious audience member who was constantly laughing throughout most of the animated short. Finally, comes the final judging for the performers; to the announcer's surprise, it is Egghead himself who is picked by the audience, which (due apparently to the now-dispatched heckler driving out all the other audience members) is now composed of many Eggheads applauding. Merrie Melodies - Farm Frolics (1941 cartoon)

07:17
Farm Frolics is a 1941 Warner Bros. cartoon in the Merrie Melodies series. It was directed by Bob Clampett, animation by Rob Scribner, and musical direction by Carl Stalling. The vocal group heard at the beginning is the Sportsmen Quartet, who often harmonized in Warner Bros. cartoons of the period, later becoming the resident singing group on Jack Benny's radio and TV shows. The cartoon starts with the arm of an animator drawing a farm scene. The farm scene then colors itself, and the camera zooms in just as the plot follows: A realistic-looking horse is seen, whinnying (courtesy of Mel Blanc), and a comic triple plays out: The narrator asks the horse to do a trot; the horse obliges. The narrator asks for a gallop; the horse again obliges. The narrator then asks the horse to do a "canter". The horse turns from realistic to a cartoon horse, with the bugged eyes of, and singing "I'm Happy About the Whole Thing" (by Harry Warren and Johnny Mercer) in the style of, the vaudeville star Eddie Cantor, vocally impersonated by Kent Rogers. The narrator admonishes the horse, which grins sheepishly. The family dog is seen lazing on the porch, springing to alertness when the newspaper arrives. The dog makes a mad dash to the end of the driveway, gets the paper, comes back to the porch, and immediately starts to read the paper himself, starting with the Sunday comics. He turns to the audience, and says, "I can hardly wait to see what happened to Dick Tracy!" (This gag would be used by Clampett again in The Great Piggy Bank Robbery.) Directed by Robert Clampett Produced by Leon Schlesinger Narrated by Robert C. Bruce Voices by Mel Blanc Sara Berner Cliff Nazarro Kent Rogers Music by Carl W. LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): Jungle Jitters (1938) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

07:17
This cartoon is part of the "Censored Eleven" a group of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons that were withheld from syndication by United Artists (UA) in 1968. Jungle Jitters is a one-reel animated cartoon short subject in the Merrie Melodies series, produced in Technicolor and released to theatres on February 19, 1938 by Warner Bros. Pictures and The Vitaphone Corporation. It was produced by Leon Schlesinger and directed by Friz Freleng, with musical supervision by Carl W. Stalling and voices by Mel Blanc. The cartoon features a number of racial stereotypes throughout the short (such as people in blackface), which prompted United Artists to withhold this cartoon from syndication in 1968, making it one of the Censored Eleven. Plot In an African jungle, the natives are going about their day, with the jungle elements being intertwined with modern-day elements; for example, the people dancing around a tent when it turns into a makeshift merry-go-round, to the tune of The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down which has since become the longtime Looney Tunes theme song. A traveling salesman whose name was Manny (a parody of Al Pearce's character Elmer Blurt) comes by to offer them the latest in "assorted useful, useless, utensils". The natives capture him, throw him into a pot of boiling water, and ransack his goods. They proceed to familiarize themselves with vacuum cleaners, batteries, light bulbs, etc. When the salesman is introduced to the village queen (depicted as a white woman, possibly to avoid any problems with the Hays code over the issue of miscegenation), she takes a liking to him, imagining Manny the salesman as none other than Clark Gable and Robert Taylor. The salesman finds himself with the choice between a forced marriage with the homely queen, or the boiling pot of water. He chooses the pot, and in a closing shot as he sinks into the broth, hopes "they all get indigestion, I hope, I hope, I hope." LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): I Wanna Be a Sailor (1937) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

07:10
I Wanna Be a Sailor is a 1937 Merrie Melodies cartoon directed by Tex Avery. Plot A mother parrot is teaching her children to say, "Polly want a cracker". The first two kids, Patrick and Patricia, do so after some effort, but Peter doesn't want to say cracker, he wants to be a sailor like his dad. His mother refuses, telling him that his dad had really set sail for Catalina, after he and the others were born. Peter is not impressed and runs off. He takes a barrel and joins forces with a rather annoying duck, and the two set sail on the lake. They eventually find trouble in a thunderstorm, and Peter calls his "Momma". She comes running, but he is already saved by the duck, despite it all he still wants to be a sailor. Trivia The duck in this cartoon is theorized by some people as being the same duck that appeared in the cartoons It's an Ill Wind, Porky's Hotel, and She Was an Acrobat's Daughter. The voice of Peter Parrot was done by prolific child actor Robert "Bobby" Winckler, who had worked in over 80 films and over 200 radio shows with most of the stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood. His IMDB page is listed under his often credited name Robert Winkler. 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2015 ComedyMX LLC. All rights reserved. Unauthorized use is prohibited. After Daisy is carted away in a truck marked "Scrap Metal for Victory" to contribute to the American effort in World War II, Willoughby runs frantically to the munitions depot, calling Daisy's name, only to find a bomb labelled "Daisy". LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): Tokio Jokio (WW2) (1943) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

07:24
Tokio Jokio is a 1943 Looney Tunes short directed by Norman McCabe (Cpl. was added after the film finished production, as McCabe was drafted into the Armed Forces before its release). It is a propaganda film made during World War II mocking Japan in the style of a supposed Japanese film journal broadcast. Mel Blanc supplied all the voices. **Controversy over stereotypes:** The cartoon was intended as an American propaganda film against Japan while the two countries were at war. The depiction of the Japanese would generally be considered unsavory by today's standards. All the Japanese are shown wearing big glasses, having buck teeth and grinning and rubbing their hands in a very sinister way. Their stereotypical politeness is mocked by their continuous use of the words: "please", "regrettable" and "honorable". Also, their language is spoofed by adding many "Ooo's" at the start of every sentence and replacing the letter "l" with the letter "r" and vice versa. Furthermore, the Japanese are represented as being incompetent, weak, cowardly, and primitive. Although the jokes are generally aimed at Japan, the cartoon also pokes fun at Lord Haw Haw, Rudolph Hess, Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. As with a lot of World War II cartoons in America, this hasn't aired on any network, syndicated, or cable channel due to its offensive content. However, the Cartoon Network animation history show ToonHeads once showed clips of this cartoon during a special episode about World War II-era cartoons, with a voiceover explaining that the cartoon, like many others at the time, had very cruel depictions of the Japanese. 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2015 ComedyMX LLC. Bugs Bunny - Wackiki Wabbit (1943) - Looney Tunes Classic Animated Cartoon

06:41
Wackiki Wabbit is a 1943 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies cartoon, starring Bugs Bunny. It was written by Tedd Pierce and directed by Chuck Jones. Voices were provided by Mel Blanc (Bugs), Tedd Pierce (the tall, thin man), and Michael Maltese (the short, fat man - the two men's appearances are rough caricatures of the actual men). The musical score was conducted by Carl Stalling. Wackiki Wabbit contains an experimental use of strongly graphic, nearly abstract backgrounds. The title is a double play on words, with "Wackiki" suggesting both the island setting (as in "Waikiki") as well as suggesting "wacky" (crazy) along with the usual Elmer Fudd speech pronunciation of "rabbit", although Elmer does not appear in this picture. This cartoon has fallen to the public domain after United Artists (successor to Associated Artists Productions) failed to renew the copyright on time. The cartoon opens with two castaways adrift on a small raft in the middle of the ocean, underscored with "Asleep in the Deep". Delirious from hunger, they start imagining each other (or even their own limbs) as food. They spot an island in the distance and rush ashore, underscored by "Down Where the Trade Winds Play", a song used several times in the cartoon (and in others, such as Gorilla My Dreams), where they meet Bugs Bunny, who is munching on his carrot as usual. To his friendly, "What's the good word, strangers?" they answer "FOOD!" and start after Bugs, who leaps away on a vine with a Tarzan yell. Chasing Bugs through the jungle, they spy him, semi-disguised as one of the natives, dancing. Bugs welcomes them, "Ah! White Men! Welcome to Humuhumunukunukuapua'a'a'a Island." He then speaks in Polynesian-accented nonsense, a long stretch of which is subtitled simply, "What's up Doc?" and a very short segment is subtitled, "Now is the time for every good man to come to the aid of his party." The tall, skinny man says, "Well, thanks!" which the subtitles translate to "Ofa eno maua te ofe popaa." The short, fat man, who can actually see the subtitles, comments, "Gee, did you say that?" The skinny man shrugs. Bugs and the two men prepare the feast as they sing "We're gonna have roast rabbit". Bugs realizes he's the roast rabbit and climbs back up the tree. Bugs then tricks them by substituting a skinned chicken for himself in the large cooking pot. He taunts them with the chicken, using it as a marionette in order to make the two men think the chicken is possessed by a ghost, until the strings become tangled and he has to make a quick escape. As the castaways wail in frustration, they hear a steam whistle from a ship. As the men leap for joy at the prospect of being saved and trot toward the gangplank, Bugs kisses them goodbye and presents them with leis, then pulls his time-honored switcheroo trick and boards the ship himself. The boat pulls out, leaving the two men on the island, still waving goodbye to Bugs. Realizing they've been tricked, the Skinny Man slaps the Fat Man (off-camera, following the Hays Office rules) for still yelling "Goodbye!" The two at once imagine each other as a hot dog and a hamburger, chasing each other into the distance as "Aloha Oe" plays on the underscore, and the cartoon irises out.

Merrie Melodies - Rookie Revue (1941 cartoon)

07:41
Merrie Melodies - Rookie Revue 1941 Merrie Melodies is an American animated series of comedy short films produced by Warner Bros. between 1931 and 1969, during the golden age of American animation. As with its parent series, Looney Tunes, Merrie Melodies featured some of the most famous cartoon characters ever created; including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and Elmer Fudd. Merrie Melodies was originally produced by Harman-Ising Pictures from 1931 to 1933, and then Leon Schlesinger Productions from 1933 to 1944. Schlesinger sold his studio to Warner Bros. in 1944, and the newly renamed Warner Bros. Cartoons continued production until 1963. Merrie Melodies was outsourced to DePatie-Freleng Enterprises and Format Films from 1964 to 1967, and Warner Bros. Cartoons resumed production for the series' final two years.[1] Three of the Merrie Melodies films (Tweetie Pie, Speedy Gonzales and Birds Anonymous) won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and another three (Duck Amuck, One Froggy Evening and What's Opera, Doc?) have been inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress
The Wabbit Who Came to Supper 1942 - Warner Brothers - Merrie Melodies cartoon

08:07
The Wabbit Who Came to Supper is a 1942 American Warner Brothers Merrie Melodies cartoon featuring early appearances by Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd. The Elmer character is in a transitional state from his earliest appearances in Bob Clampett's shorts and the appearance which he adopted around 1943. This short is one of several pre-August 1948[1] WB cartoon shorts that lapsed into the public domain due to United Artists failing to renew the copyright in time. The title of the short is a reference to the 1942 Warner Brothers film version of the 1939 George S. Kaufman Broadway comedy The Man Who Came to Dinner, in which an overbearing house-guest threatens to take over the lives of a small-town family. As Elmer has Bugs Bunny cornered on his hunting trip, Elmer receives a telegram from his Uncle Louie who leaves him $3 million in his will, as long as he doesn't harm any animals, especially rabbits. Elmer changes his tune to one of uncharacteristic niceness and sets Bugs free. Bugs, with characteristic élan, takes full advantage of the situation by sneaking into Elmer's house before Elmer returned and making himself at home. As Elmer returns, he hears Bugs singing "Angel in Disguise", while taking a shower and later shaving; Bugs uses the opportunity to purposely aggravate Elmer, knowing that he has Uncle Louie as blackmail and because of this Elmer cannot effectively punish Bugs in any way at the risk of losing his inheritance. Elmer tries to coax Bugs into leaving, gently patting him on the head, which Bugs claims that he is hurting him and threatens to call Uncle Louie. Elmer apologizes to Bugs then tricks him into walking out of the house. Bugs resorts to faking a serious illness, prompting Elmer to take him back in, afraid he may have lost the inheritance for good. Later a special delivery letter arrives for Elmer, which informs him that Uncle Louie has "kicked the bucket" and that he now inherits the $3 million. However, the amount of the various estate taxes, including a $2 million inheritance tax, claims the entirety of the inheritance and leaves Elmer owing Louie's lawyer $1.98. Furious at Bugs' torment and intrusion for all that, Elmer, at his wits' end, is finally free to vent his anger on Bugs and chases him around the house until Bugs escapes out the front door, to which Elmer slams shut. Elmer, briefly relieved that he is finally rid of Bugs, then receives a large Easter egg delivery from a postman. Upon opening it, an impossibly large litter of baby Bugs Bunnies who say "Eh, what's up Doc?" in unison begin to leap around the house. merrie melodies looney tunes, merrie melodies all this and rabbit stew, merrie melodies ants, merrie melodies a tale of two kitties, merrie melodies bugs bunny intro, merrie melodies bird, merrie melodies compilation, merrie melodies cartoon, merrie melodies cat, merrie melodies chicken, merrie melodies crows, merrie melodies daffy duck, merrie melodies dog, merrie melodies daffy duck in hollywood, merrie melodies daffy duck and egghead, merrie melodies daffy duck the wizard, merrie melodies double pitched, merrie melodies daffy duck and the dinosaur, mickey mouse, mickey mouse cartoon, mickey mouse videos, mickey mouse movie, mickey mouse and donald duck, mickey mouse animation, a mickey mouse cartoon, mickey mouse baby, mickey mouse dog, cartoon shows, cartoon shows list, cartoon shows for kids, cartoon shows from the 80s, cartoon shows to watch, cartoon shows and movies, cartoon shows best, cartoon shows cartoon network, cartoon shows comedy, cartoon shows disney, cartoon shows download, cartoon shows download free, cartoon shows during the 90's, cartoon shows episodes, walt disney, walt disney movies, walt disney animated movies, walt disney and mickey mouse, a walt disney production, a walt disney christmas one upon a wintertime, walt disney birthday, walt disney dinosaur, walt disney early life, walt disney entertainment, tom and jerry, tom and jerry kids, tom and jerry dog, tom and jerry cartoons, tom and jerry all episodes, tom and jerry a mouse in the house, a tom and jerry cartoon, tom a jerry online, tom a jerry youtube, tom a jerry video, the tom & jerry show, tom and jerry baby, tom and jerry cowboy, tom and jerry episode 1, tom and jerry episodes full, tom e jerry youtube, warner bros, warner bros animation, warner bro cartoon, warner bro cartoons, a warner bros cartoon, a warner bros, warner bros batman, warner bros bugs bunny, warner bros duck, warner bros disney, warner bros dc movies, warner bros dc comics, warner bros family entertainment, looney tunes, looney tunes show, looney tunes golden collection, looney tunes dog, looney tunes episodes, looney tunes cartoons, a looney tunes movie, looney tunes chicken, looney tunes cowboy, looney tunes coyote, looney tunes duck, looney tunes daffy duck, looney tunes wile e coyote, looney tunes show wile e coyote, looney tunes wile e coyote episodes, looney tunes full episodes,

The Goofy Gophers (1947) - Looney Tunes Cartoon

06:53
The Goofy Gophers are animated cartoon characters in the Warner Brothers, Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons. The gophers, named Mac and Tosh, are small and brown with tan bellies and buck teeth. They both have British accents. Their names are puns on the surname "Macintosh." They are characterized by an abnormally high level of politeness. The Goofy Gophers were created by Warners animator Robert Clampett for the 1947 short film The Goofy Gophers. Norm McCabe had previously used a pair of gophers in his 1942 short Gopher Goofy, but they bear little resemblance to Clampett's characters. Clampett left the studio before the short went to production, so Arthur Davis took over as director. The cartoon features the gophers' repeated incursions into a vegetable garden guarded by an unnamed dog whom they relentlessly, though politely, torment. Voice actor Mel Blanc plays Mac and Stan Freberg plays Tosh. Both speak with high-pitched British accents like those used in upper-class stereotypes around at the time. After classic cartoons, Joe Alaskey plays Mac. Some sources claim Clampett intended the Goofy Gophers to be a spoof of Disney's chipmunk characters, Chip 'n' Dale, with whom they are sometimes confused. Others, however, point out that this seems unlikely given the two pairs of characters are so different in characterization. The only real similarities are the fact that the characters are rodents, are paired up, and have puns for names. The gophers' mannerisms and speech were patterned after Frederick Burr Opper's comics characters Alphonse and Gaston, which in the early 1900s engendered a "good honest laugh". The crux of each four-frame strip was the ridiculousness of the characters' over-politeness preventing their ability to get on with the task at hand. The gophers' mannerisms may be styled on performances from the British film Great Expectations directed by David Lean and released in 1946, one year before Clampett's restyled 1947 version. The gophers' speech and affectations closely mirror the enthusiastic deferential relationship between Pip, played by actor John Mills, and Mr. Pocket played by actor Alec Guinness. The pair's dialogue is peppered with such over politeness as "Indubitably!", "You first, my dear," and "But, no, no, no. It must be you who goes first!" The two often also tend to quote Shakespeare and use unnecessarily long words; for example, in Lumber Jerks, instead of "We gotta get our tree back", they say "We must take vital steps to reclaim our property."[3] Clampett later stated that the gophers' mannerisms were derived from character actors Franklin Pangborn and Edward Everett Horton. Davis would direct one other Goofy Gophers short, 1948's Two Gophers from Texas. The unnamed dog from the first cartoon returns as their nemesis in this cartoon, this time aiming to eat like an animal in the wild as he pursues the gophers with a gopher cookbook in hand. Robert McKimson was the next Warners director to utilize the characters. He pitted them against Clampett and Arthur's dog once again in the 1949 film A Ham in a Role wherein the dog's efforts to become a Shakespearean actor are foiled by the rambunctious rodents.
