Merrie Melodies - Have You Got Any Castles? (1938 cartoon)

06:13
Have You Got Any Castles? is a seven-minute animated short film released to theaters by Warner Bros. on June 25, 1938. Directed by Frank Tashlin, the film was a part of the Merrie Melodies series produced by Leon Schlesinger and distributed by Vitaphone. It was re-issued into the "Blue Ribbon Classics" series on February 1, 1947, with the question mark removed from the title. The plot of the film centers around characters from well-known works of fiction coming to life in a library whose owner has just closed the facility for the night. When the cartoon opens, the cuckoo clock in the library sounds, and the camera pans over the library, to the aforementioned Town Crier who gives a brief introduction. After this, we meet four monsters (Mr. Hyde, Fu Manchu, the Phantom of the Opera, and Frankenstein's monster) who introduce themselves roaring, but then dance briefly to Gossec's "Gavotte." As characters from other books cheer them on, the globe-shaped protagonist of The Good Earth prays by his bedside. The library is panned over to the right, revealing the books The Invisible Man with an invisible man dancing, Topper (a novel from a series by Thorne Smith, as well as a film series) with a similar theme, The Thirty-Nine Steps with a caricature of "Bojangles" Robinson dancing down the steps, So Big with a caricature of Greta Garbo, and The Green Pastures which turns out to feature a big band presentation of "Swing for Sale" led by a caricature of Cab Calloway. That clip was from the Friz Freleng short Clean Pastures. Merrie Melodies - The Fifth Column Mouse (Full Length Cartoon) HD

07:34
In this parable for the failure of appeasement before World War Two, house mice are targeted by a hungry cat, who intrudes upon their idyllic life. When all but one of the mice successfully take refuge in a wall hole, the cat promises to the one mouse who didn't manage to escape, that he won't hurt anyone, provided he's placated with pampering by every mouse in the pack. Acting as the cat's quisling, the mouse speaks to his rodent brothers, telling them to appease the cat, to give the cat all the comforts he wants, and in turn the cat will live in peace with them. The mice are wary of the cat but agree to his terms. Not surprisingly, the cat's appetite isn't assuaged, and he soon craves a mouse dinner. He chases the mice back into their hole, and the mice reject appeasement and decide to fight against the cat. They go through military prep and manufacture an ultimate weapon, a wooden dog with mechanical gears and biting teeth, to combat the cat. This cartoon (1943) is in the Public Domain. LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): Rookie Revue (1941) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

07:51
Random gags around military life, set on an army base. A bugler uses a jukebox to play reveille. In formation, one private has a great deal of trouble remembering what comes after "3"; after he gets it, he decides not to go for the $32 question. In the mess hall, the machine gunners machine gun their food while the bombers catch falling biscuits. The infantry marches for miles - past a "next time, take the train" billboard. The camouflage troops march by, invisibly. We see training substitutes: wooden guns, cars marked "tank" and, alas, a banner marked "parachute" deployed in mid-jump. More training: aerial games (of tic-tac-toe). The anti-aircraft division has target practice, on an aerial shooting gallery. Finally, in an elaborate process, a general provides firing instructions to a big gun; when it hits his own building, he says, "I'm a baaad general." 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2013 ComedyMX LLC. Coyote and many other cartoon characters. Looney Tunes' name was inspired by Walt Disney's musical series Silly Symphonies. They initially showcased musical compositions whose rights were held by Warner's music publishing interests through the adventures of cartoon characters such as Bosko and, after losing him, Buddy. The animation studio gained a higher profile, however, following their addition of directors Tex Avery and Chuck Jones and voice actor Mel Blanc. From 1942 to 1964, Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies were the most popular animated shorts in movie theaters.[3] Looney Tunes has since become a worldwide media franchise, spawning several television series, feature films, comic books, music albums, video games, and amusement park rides, as well as serving as Warner Bros.' flagship franchise. Many of the characters have made and continue to make cameo appearances in various other television shows, films, and advertisements. The most famous Looney Tunes character, Bugs Bunny, is regarded as a cultural icon and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.[4] Several Looney Tunes films are considered among the greatest animated cartoons of all time, and two (Knighty Knight Bugs and For Scent-imental Reasons) have won Academy Awards.[5] Owner Warner Bros. LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): Pigs in a Polka (1943) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

08:03
Pigs in a Polka is a one-reel animated cartoon short subject in the Merrie Melodies series, produced in Technicolor and released to theaters on February 6, 1943 by Warner Bros. Pictures. It was produced by Leon Schlesinger and directed by Friz Freleng, with musical supervision by Carl W. Stalling. There is very little dialogue in the cartoon aside from the Big Bad Wolf's introduction of the story and the pigs introducing themselves. The film is a parody of two Walt Disney films: 1933 Three Little Pigs and 1940 Fantasia. The familiar story of the Three Little Pigs is set in this film to several of Brahms' "Hungarian Dances", specifically No.5, No.7, No.6 and No.17 which appear in that order. It is also part of a light-hearted, culturally subversive Merrie Melodies running joke. It was nominated for the 1942 Academy Award for Best Short Subject: Cartoons. 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2013 ComedyMX LLC. All rights reserved. Unauthorized use is prohibited. Merrie Melodies - Hamateur Night (1939 cartoon)

07:43
Hamateur Night is a 1938 seven-minute animated short film released to theaters by Warner Bros. on January 28, 1939. Directed by Tex Avery and written by Jack Miller, the film was a part of the Merrie Melodies series produced by Leon Schlesinger and distributed by The Vitaphone Corporation. The premise of the film is rather simple; it features a vaudeville-style amateur talent night (see, for example, the contemporary and still-ongoing "Amateur Night" competitions at the Apollo Theater) with a format that resembles the much later television program The Gong Show in that it features a judge who strikes a gong to stop the performance of any entertainer whom he deems bad. The primary character of this short is Egghead, a prototype of Elmer Fudd who lacks the speech impediment of the character he evolved into. Showing tonight at a theatre is "Four Daughters with Selected Shorts". Throughout the performance, members of the audience do some miscellaneous gags while Egghead keeps interrupting by singing "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain" and getting dragged offstage. After a brief orchestra played by the conductor rather than the musicians, comes talented pianist Maestro Palawitski, but he instead inserts a nickel in the piano to play for him. For that, the performance judge rejects him. Next up is a divo penguin, but he too is rejected. Next, Hindumystic Swamiriver has his sword-through-the-basket act with Egghead as the volunteer, but Egghead doesn't emerge after the act. Next is the ballerina flea, Teeny-Tiny-Teensy-Tinny-Tinny-Tin reciting "Mary Had a Little Lamb", but she as well is rejected. For the next act, Fleabag McFoodle gives instructions to his highly trained dog, but he is nevertheless rejected. Then there is a Hamlet acting fox who is shunned by a member of the audience who throws tomatoes and is thus rejected. The closing act is the balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet played by two chickens, to which Romeo knocks out an obnoxious audience member who was constantly laughing throughout most of the animated short. Finally, comes the final judging for the performers; to the announcer's surprise, it is Egghead himself who is picked by the audience, which (due apparently to the now-dispatched heckler driving out all the other audience members) is now composed of many Eggheads applauding. LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): The Best Of Censored Eleven Banned Cartoons (Remastered HD)

20:58
The "Censored Eleven" is a group of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons that were withheld from syndication by United Artists (UA) in 1968. UA owned the distribution rights to the Associated Artists Productions library at that time, and decided to pull these eleven cartoons from broadcast because the use of ethnic stereotypes in the cartoons were deemed too offensive for contemporary audiences. The ban has been upheld by UA and the successive owners of the pre-August 1948 Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies[1] catalog to this day, which reverted to Warner Bros. in 1996 with Time Warner's purchase of Turner Broadcasting. These shorts have not been officially broadcast on television since 1968 and have only been exhibited once theatrically by Warner Bros in Spring 2010. 0:10 Hittin' the Trail for Hallelujah Land (1931) (Black Stereotype) 7:06 Jungle Jitters (1938) (Multiple Racial Stereotypes) 14:04 All This and Rabbit Stew (Bugs Bunny) (1941) (Black Stereotype) 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2015 ComedyMX LLC. LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): The Dover Boys at Pimento University (1942) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

09:08

Animated Short Film - Have You Got Any Castles?

07:28
A collection of songs and visual gags based on book titles. Originally released in 1938, this film features many snippets of songs from the Warner Brothers music publishing division, which was a requirement of the Merrie Melodies cartoons at that time (Looney Tunes cartoons of the same era did not have this rule but were often made in black and white as well). Among the songs featured in this cartoon are "Old King Cole" and "Have You Got Any Castles, Baby" which were written by composer Richard A Whiting, who is best known for the song "Good Ship Lollipop", among others. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_A._Whiting and https://www.facebook.com/myidealmusic According to Wikipedia, it was re-issued in 1947 as a "Blue Ribbon Merrie Melodies" with some edits made, all of which have now been restored excepting for the original title cards. No onscreen credits are given for writer, director, singers, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Have_You_Got_Any_Castles%3F This film is in the public domain. It was originally released by Warner Brothers. The video used for this upload was taken from the DVD set "Looney Tunes Golden Collection Volume 2"

07:16
SUBSCRIBE: http://youtube.com/c/Quotesyesofficial The first Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies cartoon, 'Lady, Play Your Mandolin!' Directed by Rudolph Ising, of the animation team Harman and Ising. Foxy stars as a gaucho. He goes to a saloon and his horse gets drunk on tequila. A female fox character sings the song that the short is in part made to promote, the title theme, written by Oscar Levant with lyrics by Irving Caesar. Ising worked at Disney and created a mouse character that went on to become Mickey Mouse. Ising went on to create Foxy, based on the same creation that led to Mickey Mouse. The female fox bears a resemblance to Minnie Mouse, and she later becomes known as Roxy, Foxy's girlfriend. LOONEY TUNES (Looney Toons): Ding Dog Daddy (1942) (Remastered) (HD 1080p)

08:32
Ding Dog Daddy was a 1942 color Merrie Melodies cartoon, directed by Friz Freleng and written by Tedd Pierce, Willoughby (voiced by Pinto Colvig), who falls in love with a metal statue of a female dog in a garden, failing to realize that "Daisy" is indeed a sculpture. Whenever Willoughby kisses Daisy, lightning strikes and sends a shock through his system, which he takes as a sign of her passionate love for him. The hero constantly has to contend with a vicious bulldog who is guarding the gate to the garden. After Daisy is carted away in a truck marked "Scrap Metal for Victory" to contribute to the American effort in World War II, Willoughby runs frantically to the munitions depot, calling Daisy's name, only to find a bomb labelled "Daisy". As he cries, "Oh, what have they done to you? They've changed you!", the bomb explodes in his face, leading him to cry out happily, "WWWWWOOOOWWWWW! Huh Huh! She hasn't changed a bit!" 8thManDVD.com and all content © 2015 ComedyMX LLC. All rights reserved. Unauthorized use is prohibited. Bugs Bunny ft Elmer Fudd - The Wacky Wabbit - Merrie Melodies - Looney Tunes Cartoon

07:21
The Wacky Wabbit is a Warner Bros. cartoon in the Merrie Melodies series. It was released on May 2, 1942. It was directed by Robert Clampett. It stars Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd (both are voiced by Mel Blanc and Arthur Q. Bryan). Plot summary The cartoon begins with the fattened version of Elmer Fudd prospecting for gold, singing "Oh! Susanna", except that instead of 1849, the cartoon is set during World War II, with the implication that Elmer hopes to donate the gold to the war effort: "Oh, Susanna, don't you cwy for me, I'm gonna get me wots of gold, "V for Victowy!", not to mention a "Buy US Savings Bonds and Stamps" sign shown early into the short. Bugs Bunny appears during the second verse and finishes it with Elmer, singing harmony. From that point on, in a role change from the usual, Bugs pesters Elmer without apparent provocation, as he did in Wabbit Twouble, from burying Elmer in the hole he was digging to cutting off Elmer's suspenders and revealing the girdle he's wearing: "Don't waugh. I'll bet pwenty of you men wear one of these." Instead of fleeing, this time Elmer turns toward revenge, especially when he observes that Bugs has a gold-filled tooth: "I'm came hewe for gold, and I'm gonna get it!" A furious fight ensues, and Elmer comes up the apparent "winner", holding up a gold tooth, saying, "Euweka! Gold at wast! Heh-heh-heh-heh!" Elmer grins and laughs his usual laugh, and at the same time Bugs mocks Elmer with the same words, dropped-"r" and laugh, revealing that his tooth is intact and that Elmer is holding his own knocked-out gold tooth. So now it turns out that Bugs is the actual winner. Iris out.
