Keeping track of your life total, as well as the life total of your opponent, is a critically important task for Magic: The Gathering. So too is tracking power and toughness changes to any creatures under your control, as well as counters that may be placed on those creatures, or tokens put into play by spells you control. In order to facilitate this, there are many Magic: The Gathering life pads, tokens, counters and dice offered by many different companies. This video will examine some of the accessories from Turn 1 Games, the made for Magic Tarmogoyf Power/Toughness dice from both Chimera Craft and Tiny Tokens, as well as the LifeCalc from Legion. Which of these are high quality, which are low, which are needed and which aren’t? Let’s take a look! 5 Magic: The Gathering Life Hacks To Make Your MTG Life Easier!

You need these to indicate when your creatures gain +1+1 counters, or your planeswalkers change loyalty totals, or even as creature tokens. Don’t be that player who needs to put +1/+1 counters on their creature but has no way to indicate this. #5 - Use bath beads. Bath beads are cheap, pretty, and usually available at your local 0.99 cent or equivalent store. For about $1.00 you can get all the counters you’ll ever need. Use counters or dice for upkeep effects. Let’s say I have a Thassa in play… Never attack without first saying, move to declare attackers. This makes it very clear to your opponent that this is their last chance to cast any pre-combat spells. If you move to declare attacks and they decline to cast any spells or effects, then they can’t make you go back to let them do so after they see what you are attacking with. Retro MTG Reviews - Reaper Scrye Pewter Life Counter from 1994! Magic: The Gathering

05:37
Other RETRO MTG Reviews-- World Championship Decks: https://youtu.be/fvZ42zhtnhY Premium Deck Series: https://youtu.be/Wuv639K2m3g Support The Professor - Patreon -https://www.patreon.com/tolariancommunitycollege TCC Shirts! Playmats! - http://www.tolariancommunitycollege.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TolarianCollege FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/TolarianCommunityCollege Back in the glorious year of 1994, a company by the name of Reaper Miniatures, probably best known today for their Dungeons & Dragons pewter figurines, teamed up with the magazine Scrye and released a short lived but long remembered product for players of Magic: The Gathering. What was it they offered players of the MTG card game? Only one of the finest ways to keep track of your life total, the Reaper Scrye Life Counter. Originally released in 1994, these are very hard to come by these days, especially unused such as I am showing you here. The ones I am showing you here were exceptionally hard to come by, because here they are in their official boxes; the later releases were on blister cards. Crafted not of cardboard or plastic, but of actual pewter and a finer quality than perhaps anything you’ll find on the market today. These were made in each of the five mana colors, green, blue, white, black and red, as well as limited editions in bronze, silver and gold...yes they actually plated that rarest tier with 14 karrot gold. On each stands a wizards holding a crystal ball, and at his base is an arrow that points to your life total. One side can track from 1-20 life, and, in the event of going above 20 life… The dial can be flipped over to track from 21-40 life. Amazing how a product from 2 decades ago could be used and enjoyed by commander players today. The quality here is exceptional. Reaper knew how to just to make a solid product, and not just a highly functional one, but also a artistic and detailed one as well. Sadly, although many elderly players such as myself remember these from that distant, distant era of the mid-90’s, Reaper long since discontinued this product and, at least currently, has not given any indication that it shall return. Although maybe if we all ask them really, really nicely. Oh, wait...what’s this? It seems that classic design is alive again after all...not from Reaper, however, but instead from Ultra Pro. Yeah, you heard me, Ultra Pro. Cool, let’s compare. One can’t help but think of the Reaper Scrye counter as they examine the Ultra Pro Realms of Havoc life counter. Three designs are available, and this is crafted of actual...well, it isn’t cardboard or plastic, so that’s a plus. This is actually very solid, the packaging lists this as “Heavy Metal Material” so i doubt it is pewter. Just like the reaper scrye counter, the base contains an arrow to point to life total, and the bottom disk can flip for tracking between 1 and 40 life. My only criticism of the Ultra Pro version, other than of course not being crafted of a fine material such as pewter, is that it is only a limited collector’s edition. I hope very much Ultra Pro and other companies recognize that quality items such as this can be and are desired by a growing and maturing player base. Maybe we can return, step by step to that bygone era where our products were crafted with greater care and artistry. Until that time, I am going to enjoy my old Scrye Counter, and yeah, this Ultra Pro limited edition one as well! I hope this retro review has been of some interest to you. You can help me keep producing interesting content such as this simply by liking, subscribing, sharing with your friends, or just by leaving a comment. That’s why This video will compare and contrast the Tarmo-die from StarCity games, monster rocks from newport games, the zinc spin downs from kakapopo and the oracle inserts from oracle. which have true purpose and function and which are little more than empty fluff? Let’s take a look. Let’s begin with monster rocks from newport games. Sold in sets of 12, monster rocks are 6 sided die meant to represent magic the gathering creature tokens. On each side is both a creature emblem as well as numerical power/toughness from 1-6, in other words one side is a 1/1, another a 2/2, 3/3, 4/4, 5/5 and 6/6. This allows one d6 to act as one of 6 potential tokens you might utilyze during gameplay. Since these are essentially numbered 1-6, they can still be used to roll as a traditional D6. Because of the emblem and power/toughness marking, it is easier to indicate when a die is tapped than, say with just a regular d6. Being able to use one die for 6 potential tokens is also advantageous in terms of size and storage. Where do these fall on the function versus fluff scale? I’d say somewhat more towards function than just fluff. Yes, they look nice, can be seen as adding style to your gameplay, and of course there is always the reasonable argument of just using actual tokens during gameplay. But there’s a real function here as well, letting a handful of compact d6’s represent a host of potential creatures makes for both saving space and multi purpose. Anyone playing a massive token deck who has had to dig endlessly for the 5/5 when they have only 1/1 and 2/2 tokens in front of them can see the appeal. Each order contains 12 great looking 6 sided die Can be rolled as a normal D6 by using 1/1 as 1 and so on Fun way to represent tokens in games like Magic the Gathering Comes with dice cube Cost is 11.99 for 12. Grade: solid B. Next up from Kakapopo are designer dice, or more specifically, designer spindown dice.

Magic The Gathering Life Counter

02:26
I re-purposed a old project of mine (an Arduino based reaction timer) in to a game box for magic the gathering. It has a player selector (random, as if you were flipping a coin) and the basic life counters. I might make something else out of it later, but right now I think it looks really nice and will add a little technical flair to your traditional trading card game.

Poker Chips For Counters In MTG | Kickstarter Campaign | Action Chips

01:45
Poker Chips For Counters In MTG | Kickstarter Campaign | Action Chips To view or back the campaign visit http://kck.st/1yRAJcl My name is Michael Kimble and I am the owner of a new product for MTG. They're called Action Chips! I used to be a poker dealer so I love poker chips. I was introduced to MTG in March 2014. I fell in love with it. Reason being because I also play Chess and it is like combining poker and chess into one game. I can't get enough of Magic!! After playing MTG for a while I noticed that most people use dice to add counters to their permanents. After several times of turning the die to find my next number I found that I sometimes had to turn it 4 times before I found my desired number to place back on my Magic card. It was getting annoying. So I thought of a different way to add counters to permanents in MTG by using poker chips instead of dice. I have created a Kickstarter for these chips so that I can make these chips double sided. For each $4,000 I can make one kind of chip double sided. The first $4,000 will be going towards the +1/+1 Counter Chip being double sided. The second $4,000 will go towards the +5/+5 Counter Chip and the last $4,000 will go towards the Do Not Untap Chip. Information about what these chips do are described below. Action Chips was originally going to be called Mimble Chips. After a few business calls I found out that it is hard to understand when someone says Mimble. Not only was it hard to understand it was also not very informative as to what purpose they serve. Since placing a counter on a permanent was considered "action" I thought Action Chips was perfect since it wouldn't be conflicting on any MTG Trademarks or Copyrights. +1/+1 Counter Chip The +1/+1 Counter chip is used for keeping track of how many +1/+1 counters are on a specific permanent in Magic™. Most people currently use dice or post it notes for counters. These chips can be used in Magic™ for anything that the dice are used for. Even for deciding on who goes first! Since the chips are one sided you can use the +1/+1 counter side as heads and the blank side as tails! So go ahead and SLICE YOUR DICE, because we have created a new WAY to PLAY Magic: The Gathering™. These chips are also good for playing poker with your friends. Wouldn’t it be sweet to play a 10 handed poker game with these Action Chips? +5/+5 Counter Chip The +5/+5 Counter chip is used for keeping track of how many +1/+1 counters are on a specific permanent in Magic™. Once you need to place a fifth counter on that permanent you can either place another +1/+1 Counter on it or REMOVE the others currently on and place this +5/+5 Counter chip on that permanent instead. Once you have more than five +1/+1 counters on a permanent it gets hard to keep track of how many counters are on the permanent so we advise you to place the +5/+5 counter on. Anything more than five Action Chips on a permanent makes it hard to move when you go to block your opponents attacking creature. Most people currently use dice or post it notes for counters. These chips can be used in Magic™ for anything that the dice are used for. Even for deciding on who goes first! Since the chips are one sided you can use the +5/+5 counter side as heads and the blank side as tails! So go ahead and SLICE YOUR DICE, because we have created a new WAY to PLAY Magic: The Gathering™. These chips are also good for playing poker with your friends. Wouldn’t it be sweet to play a 10 handed poker game with these Action Chips? Do Not Untap Chip The Do Not Untap chip is used when your opponent casts a spell that has a “when this permanent enters the battlefield” ability that taps your permanent until your opponent’s permanent has left the battlefield. This chip will remind you in your next untap step not to untap that permanent. We all know how many times we have done this and how annoying it is when you try to attack with someone that was supposed to be tapped. This chip allows for a more consistent game to be played. How To Play Magic The Gathering With MTG 20 Sided Dice

06:17
How many 20 sided dice and counters should I buy for Magic: The Gathering? Here is how i play with various methods on my playing field mat with 20 sided MTG dice. I think it would be fun to read is what kind of dice that you use; as in color, size, number of sides etc. It just would seem fun to find out about others' way of using them and how they are making the game look different? Please comment. I use a set my 3 6-dot medium sized dice, that are Dark Blue w/ White dots; and many 6-dot small dice, that are Black w/ Bronze dots. For the rest of the collection there are just the 20 sided roll down that you can get from Fat Packs. How do you like the triangle dice?

Magic the Gathering Dice Counters -12 Pack - By SkullSplitter Dice

00:29
Having trouble keeping track of game stats while playing MTG or other Collectible Card Games? MTG and other collectible card games are a lot of fun when you are in the throes of feverish gameplay. Many things happen and the status of the game - and your cards can change quickly. Keeping track of the “mana” you have in your pool when casting spells and other game stats can get pretty challenging if you are using a pencil and paper; you forget a certain detail, a power shift, a levelling up or down of weapons etc. Using coins as counters can work too but can get complicated and might take up too much space. It gets hard to track and worse, you lose focus on the game. Make your next MTG session fun and stress free by using SkullSplitter’s Dice Counters especially made for all collectible card games. This set of 6 beautifully crafted white and black polyresin dice counters will allow you to focus on your strategy and the game since they will make it easier for you to keep track of all your game stats and creature powers etc. Simply turn the dice and choose between +1/+1 to +6/+6 or -1/-1 to -6/-6 and place on your card. They are slightly larger than regular dice, which makes it easier for you to monitor your progress with just a glance. Those you are playing with won’t have to lean over the gaming table so much since they’ll be able to see it just as well. Acquiring this set is even considered as a step up in gaming vs. using coins or anything else you have on hand. Once you’ve finished your game, save and store your dice counters in their velvet carrying case so they don’t get lost. Enjoy playing with these game-worthy dice counters! Here’s what’s included in every set: ✅ 6 pcs. 16mm. Polyresin dice +1/+1 to +6/+6 dice counters ✅ 6 pcs. 16mm. Polyresin dice -1/-1 to -6/-6 dice counters ✅ Small Velvet bag for carrying in between games ✅ Awesome SkullSplitter Dice Logo Sticker Get Yours Today Here: https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/products/12-pack-counters-for-magic-the-gathering-six-white-plus-one-1-to-plus-six-1-and-six-black-minus-one-1-to-minus-six-6-counters
