9. Send app-specific error message with RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR.

02:26
If you execute a SELECT-INTO that does not identify any rows, the PL/SQL runtime engine raises: ORA-01403 and the error message (retrieved via SQLERRM or DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_ERROR_STACK) is simply "No data found". That may be exactly what you want your users to see. But there is a very good chance you'd like to offer something more informative, such as "An employee with that ID is not in the system." In this case, you can use RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR, as in: CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY employees_mgr IS FUNCTION onerow (employee_id_in IN hr.employees.employee_id%TYPE) RETURN hr.employees%ROWTYPE RESULT_CACHE IS l_employee hr.employees%ROWTYPE; BEGIN SELECT * INTO l_employee FROM hr.employees WHERE employee_id = employee_id_in; RETURN l_employee; EXCEPTION WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN raise_application_error ( -20000, 'An employee with that ID is not in the system.'); END; END; Related blog post: http://stevenfeuersteinonplsql.blogspot.com/2016/03/nine-good-to-knows-about-plsql-error.html ======================================== Practically Perfect PL/SQL with Steven Feuerstein Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Oracle Apex 5.1(36) Hide all type of reports when no data found In Oracle Apex By JavaInHand

06:31
Hi Friends, Here we are implementing Oracle Apex 5.1(36) Hide all type of reports when no data found In Oracle Apex By JavaInHand. I think so this video is helpful for you. Hide region if no data found I have a diagnostic page where I hide classic report regions that aren't relevant - ie, have no data returned. Here I create a dynamic action that executes After Refresh of the relevant region. The dynamic action then shows/hides the region, depending on the result of the JavaScript expression: $(this.triggeringElement).find('.nodatafound').length == 1 As Maxime pointed out in the comments, here I was focussing on classic report regions. The relevant classes you may be looking for include: Classic Report (versatile): nodatafound Interactive Report (IR): a-IRR-noDataMsg Interactive Grid (IG): a-GV-noDataMsg Don't forget Like, Share & Subscribe my channel Link (Blogger) : https://javainhand.blogspot.in/ Link (facebook Group ) https://www.facebook.com/groups/145218296146795/?ref=bookmarks Link (facebook Page) https://www.facebook.com/javainhand2017/ Thanks. Happy Oracle Apex :)

SQL Into - How to Copy Table Data with Select Into Statement - SQL Training Online

05:08
http://www.sqltrainingonline.com SQL Into - How to Copy Table Data with Select Into Statement - SQL Training Online In this video, I show you how to copy data using the SQL INTO statement. Including a trick to copy only a table schema in SQL Server. How do you copy a whole table in SQL Server? You often see the SQL INTO statement when you are using INSERT, but there is a special INTO statement in SQL Server that is used with the SELECT statement that allows you to make a copy of a table for development, testing, or whatever purpose you can think of. So, to start, let's take a look at the SQL Training Online Simple DB employee table. You can see that we have 14 records Now, all we have to do to make a copy of the table is to simply add the SQL INTO clause: SELECT * INTO EMPLOYEE_TEST FROM EMPLOYEE If we run that, you see that we made a copy of the table with all of the data. Now, I want to go ahead and empty the employee_test table and show you how to use the INSERT INTO. If you already have a copy of the table, (I will show you a shortcut in a minute on how to create a copy without data.) then you can use the following insert into statement: INSERT INTO EMPLOYEE_TEST SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEE After running that statement, you see that I have inserted data from the Employee table into the employee_test table. This is sometimes referred to as INSERT INTO SELECT. But, there is one trick that I have used throughout the years that is pretty cool. Sometimes, you want the table schema, but you don't want the data. Now, I know that you can use Management Studio to script out the table for you, but there is an easier way that is more flexible as far as I am concerned. That is to use the SELECT INTO FROM, but put the following in the WHERE clause: SELECT * INTO EMPLOYEE_TEST FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE 1=2 The 1=2 makes is so not data will come over, but you get the new table with the right column types. Is that pretty cool? I have found many uses for this over the years. Let me know what you think bellow. Let me know what you think by commenting or sharing on twitter, facebook, google+, etc. If you enjoy the video, please give it a like, comment, or subscribe to my channel. We have acquired contact with a former arch rival who will aid in our mission to redefine YouTube. Our secret partner has agreed to accept valuable information in exchange for trapping Project Zorgo's most wanted YouTube channels. It is an excellent trade. This collaboration will trap Matt and Rebecca Zamolo, Chad Wild Clay, Vy Qwaint, Grace and Stephen Sharer in one location for 24 hours where our plans, games, and challenges can succeed. Our hidden contact has established a meeting point in Florida at his top secret escape room mansion, and all assigned PZ hacker members must report to this mysterious rendezvous location. This has been assigned in your spy briefing document. Escape is not an option, and victory is our goal. Do not forget to bring your spy gadgets. And always remember, Project Zorgo is watching. Partner Webcast – Enterprise Mobility: Remote Data Synchronization in Oracle MAF

01:01:01
Digital disruption – you have probably heard this concept quite many times recently and this is for a reason. Disruption means changing old ways of doing things, especially in business. Many enterprises (or at least their CIOs) found themselves lingering between the fears of losing control and being left behind the competition and hopes for substantially improving the way the company does its business. Enterprise Mobility is the area where both the hopes and fears rise particularly high, making the decision really hard without support from software vendors, who can provide technology, experience and confidence in taking the next big step. Oracle’s Mobile Application Framework (MAF) is one of those technologies which can make it easier to leverage apparently infinite potentials of enterprise mobility. In this webcast we would like to focus on one particular challenge you usually encounter when you build your enterprise mobile solution: data synchronization. Oracle 12c PL/SQL Security Enhancements - Session 2 of 8- Tutorial Agenda

04:11
What's in the SkillBuilders Oracle 12c PL/SQL Security New Features tutorial. John Watson: What I want to talk about today is some security issues with 11g PL/SQL and then moving on to Oracle Database 12c. [see how they've been addressed] In general previous releases of the database have had real problems with security particularly with PL/SQL. This does cause a bit of confusion out there when you read third party assessments contrasting Oracle security with say SQL server and so on. Some people will say that Oracle security is rubbish. Other people will say it's fantastic. What causes that paradox? It's because you can secure your database, but you have to do it. Out of the box the database is stuffed full of marvelous facilities - the developer's marvelous facilities for users - but many of them are potentially highly dangerous. So make no mistake. Oracle database can and should be totally secure, but if your DBAs and your programmers don't make it secure it may be wide open to abuse, wide open to hackers. This has always been a problem. With later releases 11 and now 12, the situation is improving. There are more and more things that one can do declaratively, more techniques for tightening up those wonderfully powerful facilities that can be open to abuse. So what I'm going to go through is spend some time with 11g. We have to. We have to understand what some of the problems are that are being addressed. Also, of course, 11g will be available to be useful for several years to come. I'll spend some time in 11g environment looking at some of the major issues in the PL/SQL environment. Then we will move on to 12c and see some of the new facilities and see how they tighten up the security issues that we see with 11g. If possible - I don't know if this will come true or not - I'll maybe have quick look at network access control list I completely re-implemented in 12c and maybe talk a bit about the advanced security option as well as that has changed somewhat too. That's the agenda I intend to follow. Beginning with 11g, we'll go through what are the definer's rights, what are invoker's rights for code, the relationship between roles and PL/SQL. These issues, definer's rights, invoker's rights and roles is potentially very useful but cause a lot of confusion. I remember when I installed PL/SQL, it first came when it was first introduced in version 7 many, many years ago I found this mind bogglingly confusing. Invoker's rights came in a couple of releases later and then died. That added to the confusion because invoker's rights attempted to fix the problem caused by definer's rights. Roles have always been confusing in the PL/SQL 11g environment. We then move on to the 12c techniques. It's a whole new privilege - inherit privileges or inherit any privileges. That tightens up some of the problems with both views and with PL/SQL. They're very nice facility indeed. We can now grow up roles to procedures, so the confusion of roles in PL/SQL, that is not removed, but we can use roles in a much more [03:31 inaudible] fashion with PL/SQL in 12c. Also, closer [03:35 inaudible], that's the concept of the bequeath view. Just as PL/SQL stored procedures they execute definer's rights to invoker's rights with the privileges of the person who owns the PL/SQL or with the privileges of the person who invokes the PL/SQL. It's the same with views. Historically views are always executed with the privileges of the owner. Now, to a certain extent we can have what I might always call an invoker's rights view. Then if we have time, a couple of other things as well.

jQuery datatables stored procedure for paging sorting and searching

14:36
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/08/jquery-datatables-stored-procedure-for.html In this video we will discuss implementing a stored procedure that can perform paging sorting and searching. In our upcoming videos we will discuss writing a generic handler that calls this stored procedure. The generic handler will convert the data to JSON format. The JSON formatted data can then be consumed by the jQuery datatables plugin. All the processing, that is, paging, sorting and searching is done on the server side. If the dataset is small you can retrieve all the data at once and all the processing (i.e paging, searching, sorting) can be done on the client-side. We discussed this in Part 106 for jQuery tutorial. However, if the dataset is large (i.e if you have millions of records), loading all data at once is not the best thing to do from a performance standpoint. With large dataset, we only want to load the correct set of rows (sorted, paged and filtered data ) that want to display on the page. So all the processing ((i.e paging, searching and sorting) should be done by the server. So in this and our upcoming videos we will discuss performing server side processing. SQL Script to create the table and populate it with test data Create table tblEmployees ( ID int primary key identity, FirstName nvarchar(50), LastName nvarchar(50), Gender nvarchar(20), JobTitle nvarchar(20) ) Go Insert into tblEmployees values('Mark', 'Hastings','Male','Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Maria', 'Nicholas','Female','Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Robert', 'Stephenson','Male','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Mary', 'Quant','Female','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('John', 'Stenson','Male','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Gilbert', 'Sullivan','Male','Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Rob', 'Gerald','Male','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Ron', 'Simpson','Male','Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Sara', 'Solomon','Female','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Rad', 'Wicht','Male','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Julian', 'John','Male','Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('James', 'Bynes','Male','Sr. Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Mary', 'Ward','Female','Developer') Insert into tblEmployees values('Michael', 'Niron','Male','Sr. Developer') SQL Server stored procedure paging sorting and searching create proc spGetEmployees @DisplayLength int, @DisplayStart int, @SortCol int, @SortDir nvarchar(10), @Search nvarchar(255) = NULL as begin Declare @FirstRec int, @LastRec int Set @FirstRec = @DisplayStart; Set @LastRec = @DisplayStart + @DisplayLength; With CTE_Employees as ( Select ROW_NUMBER() over (order by case when (@SortCol = 0 and @SortDir='asc') then Id end asc, case when (@SortCol = 0 and @SortDir='desc') then Id end desc, case when (@SortCol = 1 and @SortDir='asc') then FirstName end asc, case when (@SortCol = 1 and @SortDir='desc') then FirstName end desc, case when (@SortCol = 2 and @SortDir='asc') then LastName end asc, case when (@SortCol = 2 and @SortDir='desc') then LastName end desc, case when (@SortCol = 3 and @SortDir='asc') then Gender end asc, case when (@SortCol = 3 and @SortDir='desc') then Gender end desc, case when (@SortCol = 4 and @SortDir='asc') then JobTitle end asc, case when (@SortCol = 4 and @SortDir='desc') then JobTitle end desc ) as RowNum, COUNT(*) over() as TotalCount, Id, FirstName, LastName, Gender, JobTitle from tblEmployees where (@Search IS NULL Or Id like '%' + @Search + '%' Or FirstName like '%' + @Search + '%' Or LastName like '%' + @Search + '%' Or Gender like '%' + @Search + '%' Or JobTitle like '%' + @Search + '%') ) Select * from CTE_Employees where RowNum ] @FirstRec and RowNum [= @LastRec end Finally test the stored procedure

Estes Oracle Rocket - Lost & Found

00:36
Bought this rocket because it has a camera built in. Unfortunately, I have not been able to have a WIndows nor Mac machine recognize the camera to pull images off of it. IT SUCKS! Plus if you turn the camera off...it loses the video. Now I know why Estes doesn't make it anymore. Anyway...using a D Engine (motor)...we taped our key-fob camera to it and launched. Unfortunately, we probably needed a more heavy duty launch rod as it shot out like a missile instead of straight up! Landed in a rye field. We looked for an hour with no luck. Oh yeah...the nose cone and the parachute broke off from the rocket. We found the nose cone and parachute.... NEW UPDATE! We FOUND the rocket and camera the next day! \o/

CAPTIONS AVAILABLE - I assume that it's the "I like!" votes that keep this video at or near the top when you search on "oracle". Thank you to all. S. Faroult View on www.konagora.com where Youtube is blocked. Full transcript (with some screenshots) available for a small fee at http://stores.lulu.com/konagora/. A pretty reckless description of what happens when you start Oracle and when you execute a statement. If you're a developer, it could influence how you code. If you're a junior DBA, or would be junior DBA, I hope it will help you make sense of some parts of the "Concepts" manual.

Leveraging Oracle Multitenant from Visual Studio and .NET

10:08
.NET developers: Watch this video to learn how to take advantage of Oracle Multitenant, a new feature of Oracle Database 12c, while using Visual Studio. Oracle Multitenant makes it easy for developers to quickly make copies of existing databases, create/destroy new test databases quickly, and to share databases with other developers. If you would like to try out what you see in this video you will need access to an Oracle Database version 12.1 or later that was configured to use a container database. You will also need to download and install: 1) Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio version 12.1 or higher 2) Oracle Data Provider for .NET version 12.1 or higher This software can be found on the .NET Developer center (http://otn.oracle.com/dotnet) as part of the "ODTwithODAC" download packaging. For instructions on how to install this, see the Quick Start Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrzDOk8gg5A Visual Studio 2012 and 2013 is supported - any edition except Express Edition (Community Edition is supported). Oracle Multitenant, introduced in Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1), enables an Oracle database to function as a multitenant container database (CDB) that includes zero, one, or many customer-created pluggable databases (PDBs). A PDB is a portable collection of schemas, schema objects, and nonschema objects that appears to any Oracle client application as a non-CDB. Note: all Oracle database versions prior to Oracle Database 12c Release 1 (12.1) are known as non-CDBs. A CDB contains one seed database, which is a system-supplied template that the CDB can use to create new PDBs. The seed PDB is named PDB$SEED. You cannot add or modify objects in PDB$SEED. Because new PDBs are essentially copied from the seed rather than created from scratch, PDB creation time is generally much faster than creating a non-CDB. PDBs can also be cloned from other PDBs in a similarly fast amount of time. PDBs can be unplugged, which means they are removed from the CDB, and exist on the database server simply as a set of files: a metadata XML file along with some database files (.DBFs). This combination of metadata file and database files can then be easily plugged into any other CDB that is compatible with the PDB. From the point of view of .NET developers who have SYSDBA privileges, this makes testing a database configuration with your application as simple as cloning an existing PDB, or plugging in a PDB in the form of some provided database files. Similarly, a database configuration can be shared with other developers, either by cloning or through unplugging and sharing the database files. If a user with SYSDBA privileges makes a connection to a CDB in Visual Studio Server Explorer, a Pluggable Databases Node appears in the tree control. When that node is expanded, the seed PDB, along with any other available PDBs, appear as child nodes. From there, operations such as Create New, Plug, Unplug, Clone, Delete, Open, and Close can all be easily achieved.

Interactive Reports using View and Column Selector

13:09
In this episode of my Oracle BI Video Tutorial, I make a simple report and then make it interactive using a view and a column selector I first build a basic table, add a graph and then show the power of view and column selectors. To finish off, I show how to make a rollup report, by using column selectors in a creative way. Everything I talk about is applicable to building reports for Oracle Sales Cloud or any other applications that uses this reporting tool. Other applications like: - Oracle CRM On Demand - Oracle HCM Cloud - Oracle ERP Cloud - Peoplesoft - e-Business Suite - or even custom built applications Sometimes the user interface might be slightly different though. This video is part of my Oracle BI Video Tutorial that can be found on my blog: Edward's Oracle Blog: http://www.dewolf.net Let me know how you liked it and if it was usefull! Mike Olson | Oracle OpenWorld 2013

25:06
In their ongoing coverage of Oracle Open World 2013, John Furrier and Dave Vellante spoke with Mike Olson, Chairman of the board of Cloudera and Chief Strategy Officer in theCUBE. The three discuss changes in the industry that now make it easy for Cloudera to simply offer their solutions without having to explain the significance of big data and the cloud. As Joe Tucci mentioned in his keynote, we now live in the "Cloud era;" Given the company's growth, expertise and strategy, Olson argues that it belongs to Cloudera. Cloudera began working with Oracle about two years ago on the big data appliance. Olson suggests the partnership seemed natural given that both had made impressive gains in the market. As he puts, it "Our vision was, leaders should do business with leaders." The partnership was mutually beneficial given that Oracle's global reach and account integration lent credibility to Cloudera's expertise. Olson notes that Cloudera has seen "real uptake in new deployments" as a result. Olson notes that Oracle has received some criticism for having a closed as opposed to collaborative approach. Yet, he thinks this perception may be a bit exaggerated. Olson points to Oracle's perspective on Open Source as an example, noting the company's relationship with Linux as an example. A key offering for Cloudera customers is integration. Olson explains, "None of our customers stands up a new Cloudera installation by itself. Our customers need to be sure that our products integrate well with their existing infrastructure." Furrier asks about the state of entrepreneurship in this modern era of cloud and big data. He suggests that what it takes to be an enterprise player and build a successful durable company has changed since the era of the Linux style revolutions. Olson believes the competitive edge is straightforward: don't worry about the competition. More specifically, he says "In this hyper-competitive market it's our job to stay focused on our strategy, which is to build the best product for our customers. Concentrating on delivering customer value and worrying about competitors second, third or fourth is a winning customer strategy." He also adds that Cloudera has made a point of hiring and executing well. When it comes to trends that will continue to take off, Olson calls high performance in-memory databases "a no-brainer." Furrier agrees that handling persistent data will continue to prove relevant. Olson argues that what matters most going forward is solving business and social problems. He believes Cloudera will make a huge impact, "If we can apply [data] to designing better drugs, better crops, attacking meaningful problems -- I think we can." Olson is confident in Cloudera's continued momentum, noting: "We are fortunate to have found a market that is enormous and exploding."
