The film industry today | Frank Smith | TEDxChapmanU

12:31
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The ways that people are consuming films has changed radically especially over the last decade, but has the Hollywood business model kept pace? Frank Smith shares his ideas on the nature of change in the movie industry and its value in a personal sense and a business dynamic. Frank Smith is chief operating officer of Anschutz Film Group (AFG) and Walden Media. Smith has been with AFG since 2003, but currently oversees all aspects of AFG's operations (development, physical production, publishing, marketing and outreach, finance, legal and business affairs). He also works directly with The Anschutz Corporation on strategic planning and general operational issues. During his tenure with AFG, Smith has been lead counsel overseeing large budget motion picture franchise projects, co-production finance and distribution deals with major studios, as well as structuring foreign corporations for multijurisdictional film production tax incentives. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

As we discussed in our video about 9 Incredibly Hard To Shoot Movie Scenes https://youtu.be/GfdM03JpK4M, getting the perfect action shot can sometimes mean pulling off very risky stunts that have the potential to go disastrously wrong. Fortunately most productions will have plenty of precautions and safeguards in place, which means that on-set deaths are very rare, but there are still some famous cases of actors who died while filming, and others who died before they could finish their current projects. Los Angeles: Hollywood Universal Studiofahrt Studio Tour film studio and theme park

10:09
Universal Studios Hollywood is a film studio and theme park in the Universal City community of the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is one of the oldest and most famous Hollywood film studios still in use. Its official marketing headline is "The Entertainment Capital of LA". It was initially created to offer tours of the real Universal Studios sets and is the first of many full-fledged Universal Studios Theme Parks located across the world. Woody Woodpecker is the mascot for Universal Studios Hollywood. Outside the theme park, a new, all-digital facility near the Universal Studios backlot was built in an effort to merge all of NBCUniversal's West Coast operations into one area. As a result, the current home for KNBC, KVEA and NBC News with Telemundo Los Angeles Bureaus with new digital facility is on the Universal lot formerly occupied by Technicolor SA. Universal City includes hotels Universal Hilton & Towers, the Sheraton Universal Hotel, the multi-screen Globe Theatre, often used for banquets and receptions and Universal CityWalk, which offers a collection of shops and restaurants. In 2013, the park hosted 6,148,000 guests, placing it 17th in the world and 9th among North American parks. Source: Wikipedia

15 Richest Producers In Hollywood

02:29
# 15 Richest Producers In Hollywood : Producers are often misunderstood and underrated in the public’s image of the movie industry. In fact, producers run the show. When a film wins Best Picture at the Oscars, it’s the producer who takes home the trophy. They are responsible for choosing the films that get made, for raising the money, for hiring the director, and often the cast and writers as well. During filming, producers make sure that the shooting doesn’t go over the budget, and in post-production they oversee the editing and musical accompaniment. In a nutshell, the producer is the person that a film’s life hinges upon. Like the distribution of wealth and power all over America, there are a few producers who control the majority of the power in Hollywood. If your film gets picked up by one of these fifteen producers, you’re almost sure to find success, and possibly a career in film. Keep in mind, however, that they hear thousands of pitches every year – from directors and industry people with years of experience – and they usually only choose a handful of projects to get made. These are the movie producers who hold the most power, wealth, and influence in Hollywood today. 15. Kevin Feige – $50 Million 14. Martin Scorsese – $70 Million 13. Judd Apatow – $90 Million 12. John Lasseter – $100 Million 11. Ridley Scott – $140 Million 10. Kathleen Kennedy – $150 Million 9. Harvey Weinstein – $200 Million 8. Brian Grazer – $200 Million 7. Joel Silver – $300 Million 6. Michael Bay – $430 Million 5. Peter Jackson – $450 Million 4. James Cameron – $700 Million 3. Jerry Bruckheimer – $850 Million 2. Steven Spielberg – $3.5 Billion 1. George Lucas – $4.3 Billion Source Staff : therichest

(30 Facts You Won't Believe!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuDAj1-XhRc Description: Serving as role models, inspirational figures or simply beloved for the characters they portray, losing a Hollywood star is a tragedy. While they live on in their films and television shows, some actors are taken far too soon by circumstances beyond anyone’s control. Accidents on set, natural causes or mishaps in life can have terrible results. When the untimely death of a Hollywood actor or actress occurs before a film is complete, sometimes drastic measures need to be taken to carry on. While some may never see the light of day, others refuse to let their stars fade and find a way around it. Scripts re-written, body doubles employed and even special effects can help give that star one last performance. A Day in the Life of a Production Assistant

12:19
If you're planning on working your way up into the film industry, PAing is a rite of passage. Production Assistants (P.A.'s) are often overlooked, but are a crucial part of any production. They work as a team, have their eyes on everything, facilitate communication across the entire set, and keep everything running smoothly. On the set of RocketJump: The Show, we gave production assistant Colin West McDonald a go pro and followed him as he went about his day on the short "Tip Jar." Learn about set protocol and lingo, what exactly is said on all the walkies, lock ups, what a "last man" is, and general production assistant duties... as well as what to do to guarantee you'll get hired again! Questions about PAing? Ask us directly in our forums: http://j.mp/DayLifePADiscussion Big thanks to Colin West McDonald for sitting down with us, sharing his knowledge, and for wearing a camera on his head all day. Also, a million thanks to Nathan Koepp, story producer and shooter/editor for RocketJump: The Show, and Armeen Monahan and Allen Chodakowski, camera operators for the show, for giving us such amazing footage. Even after the Code came into effect, however, the occasional naughty moment slipped through... Turn on subtitles to find out the film names.
