Yet another Savage Child K!lling as the body of a 14-year-old girl was found burnt and dumped in Arnett Gardens
When Latoya Riley smelled smoke coming from a nearby open lot in Arnett Gardens, she thought it was from a [email protected]
animal being burned. She never imagined that it was from the body of her 14-year-old daughter who would have to celebrated her birthday next month
Yetanya Francis, otherwise called 'Princess' a student of Kingston Technical High School, was found late Friday Morning August 24, after she went missing at about 9:00 pm on Thursday.
Her mother said that she left their home on 12th Street in the south St Andrew community to purchase food from a popular cook shop in the area but never returned. That set off an alarm, and residents began searching for the girl.
The teen's charred remains were found in an open lot at the Inner-city for Christ Ministry, metres from her home. Her k!ller(s) allegedly [email protected]
her, chopped her in the head, and then set her lifeless body on fire.
The incident has left the entire community in mourning as residents bemoaned a string of [email protected]
and mvrders between 10th and 12th streets in the community in recent months.
This latest incident follows the [email protected]
of an eight-year-old girl two weeks ago in the neighboring Trench Town community.
“Thursday night, I was inside dozing off, and is like I just saw (Yetanya) come in front of me, and I jump up. Is when I jump up now I smell something burning, and I ask, 'Who could a burn dog dem hours here?' I never know that is my pickney a burn," said Riley.
"Me never know this would come at my foot. I see them things here on Facebook and news. I never know this would come at my foot."
"I called her phone. It rang, and then it stop ringing about after 10 p.m. From she leave out, she don't return," said the mother, who collapsed upon discovery of her daughter's body.
"Dem [email protected]
her and burn her like a dog. But Father God, you see and know you are going to answer my prayer," she said, bursting into a fresh bout of tears.
Some persons said that they heard shouts of [email protected]
and cries for help coming from the open lot but said that the shouts quickly dissipated in the darkness of 12th Street, which they claimed has been without street lights for many months.
Such reports angered one pastor from the church near where Francis' body was found, who lambasted residents for not investigating the screams.
“We were called to the community by residents who made the gruesome discovery early Friday,” said Superintendent Howard Chambers, head of the West Kingston Police Division in which the section of Arnett Gardens is located.
A large contingent of police officers and members of the Jamaica Defence Force is still in the area in response to the gruesome find.
Police have vowed to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to bring the person(s) responsible for the attack to justice.
The brutal attack on the teenager comes a year to the month after another child was sh0t and k!lled at her home in the same community.
Last August, 17-year-old Mickolle Moulton of Tenth Street, Zimbabwe in the Arnett Gardens community, which is widely known as 'Jungle', was sh0t through her bedroom window along with her 12-year-old sister.
They were taken to hospital, where Mickolle was pronounced [email protected]
and her sister was treated for her injuries.
It was alleged that Mickolle was k!lled because she had refused s3xual advances from men in the area.
