Dairy products are food produced from the milk of mammals Butter, cheese, yogurt, sour cream, ice cream, milk, and whey protein are the most common examples of dairy products. EGGS ARE NOT DAIRY Eggs come from chickens and are a bird– therefore are not dairy. Now let’s look at 6 facts and studies about dairy for your health. Fact #1. 65-75% of People in the World Are Lactose Intolerant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactose_intolerance We’ve only been consuming diary for around 7,500 years starting in Northern Europe. Since modern humans have been around for roughly 200,000 years, we can see that dairy consumption is a relatively new thing to our species. This is why certain parts of Africa and East Asia are up to 95% lactose intolerant. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0002822300001620 Some of you may develop severe acne while others may just feel a little gassey after consuming dairy. Fact #2. There’s Lots of Nutrition in Dairy Products A single cup of milk contains 30% of your RDA in Calcium 24% of your RDA in Vitamin D 26% of you RDA in Riboflavin And has plenty of potassium, protein, vitamin B12, and various other nutrients your body needs. http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/dairy-and-egg-products/69/2 There’s no denying that dairy provides a unique source of nutrients important to our body. Fact #3. Dairy is Associated with Acne Dairy increases the production mTORC1. This increases the bodies sebum production and sizes of sebaceous glands which increases your risk of acne. https://nutritionandmetabolism.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1743-7075-9-74 http://www.karger.com/Article/FullText/325580 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3141390/ Fact #4. Not All Dairy Seems to Be Equal Fermented dairy products like yogurt and keifer contain probiotics which are excellent for your gut microbiome. Also, the quality of the cow’s life and what it’s fed effects the nutrition of the dairy product produced. Pasture raised grass fed cows have more Omega 3s and have up to 500% more CLA in their products. http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0082429 http://www.csuchico.edu/grassfedbeef/research/health-benefits.shtml Not shockingly happy cows leading happy lives produce better dairy products. Fact #5. There’s A Lot of Sugar Content in Dairy Products Dairy contains a naturally occurring sugar called lactose that is in EVERY dairy product you consume. Fact #6. Dairy’s increases IGF-1 IGF-1 (or Insulin-like Growth Factor), is statistically increased from the consumption of dairy. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2715202/ IGF-1 production increases your risk of acne and developing cancer. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15562834 That being said, not all IGF-1 is bad. For instance, it has clear benefits to those of you trying to build muscle and gain strength. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2439518/ Why are there lots of recent studies out there praising dairy? Dalla dolla bill yall The diary industry alone spent 6.4 million dollars lobbying last year. Food for thought. Is Dairy Bad for You? It depends on the person. If you’re lactose intolerant, suffer with acne, or have any reason you think your body doesn’t process dairy perfectly - I would avoid it. However, it if you really enjoy it as a source of nutrition in your diet, and don’t suffer from the side effects. It’s ok to have. Which leads to the next question… Do you need dairy in your diet? Absolutely not. While diary does have lots of important nutrition like calcium, protein, and Vitamin B12, you can easily get those from other sources. Leafy greens, lean meats, and whole foods have all those nutrients WITHOUT all the sugar or hormone increases dairy. I personally don’t consume dairy for this reason. Does Dairy Help You Lose Weight? No. Weight loss is about having two things working correctly. Eating the Right Amount of Calories AND Having Properly Functioning Hormones. Dairy provides no advantage to losing weight and if you have an intolerance could impede some weight loss progress. What are the best kinds of dairy to consume? If you’re going to get your dairy on, Low-fat unflavored greek yogurt, keifer, and grass fed whey protein are the best. If you’re going to drink milk, make sure it’s organic. What kind of dairy should you never consume? Anything non-organic I’d avoid. Because dairy is already shown to raise IGF-1, avoiding any extra chemicals pumped into cows is a good idea.

The Truth About Dairy Products - Is Dairy Good Or Bad For You?

07:12
The truth about dairy products/is dairy bad for you? The short answer is that it depends, firstly on you, what dairy you're consuming and how much of it you are consuming. A common argument against dairy products is that they’re “unnatural” because we are the only animals to drink the milk from other animals long-term. This is true, but it doesn’t change whether something is nutritionally valuable. Around 75% of people in the world have a slight-severe Another common point is that areas of the world with the least consumption of dairy, have the lowest rates of osteoporosis. This is interesting, but only a correlation. However, dairy is not all good and there are various reasons why I never drink milk A 2016 meta analysis gathered information from all previous years best randomised controlled trials and observational studies and looked at the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, cancer, and all-cause mortality. The conclusion was that; “An intake of milk and dairy products contribute to meet nutrient recommendations, and may protect against the most prevalent chronic diseases, whereas very few adverse effects have been reported” This review of 10 studies found the consumption of milk is associated with a statistically significant reduction of the risk for heart disease as well as stroke risk. Dairy increases insulin and IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1). This is a potential reason why dairy is associated with acne. Insulin and IGF-1 aren’t bad all the time. For example, they are important for muscle growth. However, with excess, these increases could become potential problems. Some research suggests that dairy reduces the risk for colorectal cancer, but increases the risk for prostate cancer. I think determining whether dairy is good or bad comes down to looking at how you personally respond to it. If you are intolerant to gluten then you’re likely intolerant to pasteurised milk. If so, grass-fed butter, high in vitamin k-2, CLA and omega-3 can be a potential substitute for more potent lactose containing dairy products like milk. Aim for goat and sheep dairy products over cows and try to buy things such as probiotic yogurt instead of flavoured chocolate yogurt (which has added sugar). Dairy in general is not the most gut-friendly food, and a lot of our health is defined by the state of the microbiome and microbiome diversity in our gut. Too much dairy for many people can cause discomfort, stomach aches and has nutrients which can be consumed elsewhere without these unwanted effects. The best move is to try and eliminate dairy for 20-30 days, or reduce it and keep all variables the same. If you feel a difference, then you know that dairy wasn’t suited for your body i the amount you were consuming it. Diet & Dairy Nutrition: "Whenever You Eat" ~ 1947 National Dairy Council

Food & Beverage playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL12ED9F0F94A97DA0 more at http://food.quickfound.net/ Why you should drink milk, and eat cheese & butter, combined with other foods. Produced by the Atlas Educational Film Co. for the National Dairy Council. Reupload of a previously uploaded film with improved video & sound. Originally a public domain film from the Library of Congress Prelinger Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dairy_product Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Dairy products are generally defined as food produced from the milk of mammals (the Food Standards Agency of the United Kingdom defines dairy as "foodstuffs made from mammalian milk"). They are usually high energy-yielding food products. A production plant for the processing of milk is called a dairy or a dairy factory. Apart from breastfed infants, the human consumption of dairy products is sourced primarily from the milk of cows, yet goats, sheep, yaks, camels, and other mammals are other sources of dairy products consumed by humans. Dairy products are commonly found in European, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine, whereas aside from Mongolian cuisine they are little-known in traditional East Asian cuisine... Types of dairy products - Milk after optional homogenization, pasteurization, in several grades after standardization of the fat level, and possible addition of bacteria Streptococcus lactis and Leuconostoc citrovorum - Crème fraîche, slightly fermented cream - Clotted cream, thick, spoonable cream made by heating - Smetana, Central and Eastern European variety of sour cream - Cultured milk resembling buttermilk, but uses different yeast and bacterial cultures - Kefir, fermented milk drink from the Northern Caucasus - Kumis/Airag, slightly fermented mares' milk popular in Central Asia - Powdered milk (or milk powder), produced by removing the water from (usually skim) milk - Whole milk products - Buttermilk products - Skim milk - Whey products - Ice cream... Concerns Health Dairy products can cause health issues for individuals who have lactose intolerance or a milk allergy. Some dairy products such as blue cheese may become contaminated with the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus during ripening, which can trigger asthma and other respiratory problems in susceptible individuals. Dairy products if consumed after the expiry date can cause serious heart problems. Vegan advocates, such as John A. McDougall, Caldwell Esselstyn, Neal D. Barnard, Dean Ornish, Michael Greger, and T. Colin Campbell, have argued that high animal fat and protein diets, such as the standard American diet, are detrimental to health, and that a low-fat vegan diet may both prevent and reverse degenerative diseases such as coronary artery disease and diabetes. Avoidance of Dairy Products Some groups avoid dairy products for non-health related reasons: - Religious - Some religions restrict or do not allow for the consumption of dairy products. For example, some scholars of Jainism advocate not consuming any dairy products because dairy is perceived to involve violence against cows. Strict Judism requires that meat and dairy products are not served at the same meal, served or cooked in the same utensils, or stored together as prescribed in Deuteronomy 14:21. - Ethical - Veganism is the avoidance of all animal products, including dairy products, most often due to the ethics regarding how dairy products are produced. The ethical reasons for avoiding dairy include how dairy is produced, how the animals are handled, and the environmental effect of dairy production...

SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ?sub_confirmation=1 Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A dairy mix is the blend of milk, cream, sugar, stabilizers, and vanilla packaged by a dairy for commercial use. This mix can either be made directly into ice cream or placed into containers for the use in soft serve, frozen custard, or ice cream machines. Dairy mix used in restaurants can be also used to make frozen drinks or smoothies. Producers of dairy mix range from large scale dairies, down to independent dairy companies looking to provide a niche product. The ease of purchasing these products from dairy companies have helped spread frozen custard to nearly all parts of the country. In the Midwest, frozen custard is a household name. Ted Drewes spread the popularity of frozen custard around from St. Louis to Kansas City and beyond. There are schools designed especially to teach pupils how to run their frozen dessert businesses. Dairy mix is typically packaged in 2.5-US-gallon (9.5 L) bags, 1-US-gallon (3.8 L) jugs or half gallon cartons. Most dairies place these in milk crates or boxes, depending on where or how they ship their product. These products are pasteurized under State and Federal guidelines.

What is NON-DAIRY CREAMER? What does NON-DAIRY CREAMER mean? NON-DAIRY CREAMER meaning

What is NON-DAIRY CREAMER? What does NON-DAIRY CREAMER mean? NON-DAIRY CREAMER meaning - NON-DAIRY CREAMER definition - NON-DAIRY CREAMER explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Non-dairy creamers or coffee whiteners are liquid or granular substances intended to substitute for milk or cream as an additive to coffee, tea, hot chocolate or other beverages. They do not contain lactose and therefore are commonly described as not being dairy products, although many contain casein, a milk-derived protein. Dry granular products do not need to be refrigerated and can be used and stored in locations which do not have a refrigerator. Liquid non-dairy creamers should be tightly capped and refrigerated after opening. Some non-dairy creamers contain sweeteners and flavours, such as vanilla, hazelnut or Irish cream. As with other processed food products, low calorie and low fat versions are available for non-dairy creamers. To replicate the mouthfeel of milk fats, nondairy creamers often contain hydrogenated vegetable-based fats, although nonfat nondairy creamers/whiteners also exist. Other common ingredients include solidified corn syrup and other sweeteners or/and flavourings (such as French vanilla, hazelnut and Irish cream); as well as sodium caseinate, a milk protein derivative (from casein) that does not contain lactose. The use of a milk derivative prompts some individuals and organisations - such as vegans and Jewish dietary law authorities - to classify the product as "dairy" rather than nondairy. Those who rely on this classification will either not consume the product (e.g. vegans) or will not use or consume it in conjunction with any meat products (e.g. observant Jews). As with other processed food products, low calorie and low fat versions are available for non-dairy creamers. The FDA has stated that products with sodium caseinate may contain low levels of lactose. As with many other powders, large amounts of powdered non-dairy creamer powder are susceptible to dust explosion when suspended in air. Amateur filmmakers and pyrotechnicians have taken advantage of this property to produce several types of fireball effects. Individuals using powdered non-dairy creamer in the ordinary amounts used in a cup of coffee do not face a risk of dust explosion. Coffee creamer powder has also been used for creating fake snow in television and movies.

Dairy cows reared for milk production in India

01:39
Dairy cows at Adayana farm, Punjab. Dairy activities have traditionally been integral to India's rural economy. The country is the world's largest producer of dairy products and also their largest consumer. Almost its entire produce is consumed in the domestic market and the country is neither an importer nor an exporter, except in a marginal sense. Despite being the world's largest producer, the dairy sector is by and large in the primitive stage of development and modernization. Though India may boast of a 200 million cattle population, the average output of an Indian cow is only one seventh of its American counterpart. Indian breeds of cows are considered inferior in terms of productivity. Moreover, the sector is plagued with various other impediments like shortage of fodder, its poor quality, dismal transportation facilities and a poorly developed cold chain infrastructure. As a result, the supply side lacks in elasticity that is expected of it. On the demand side, the situation is buoyant. With the sustained growth of the Indian economy and a consequent rise in the purchasing power during the last two decades, more and more people today are able to afford milk and various other dairy products. This trend is expected to continue with the sector experiencing a robust growth in demand in the short and medium run. If the impediments in the way of growth and development are left unaddressed, India is likely to face a serious supply - demand mismatch and it may gradually turn into a substantial importer of milk and milk products. Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about keto and dairy. The ketogenic diet requires you keep your carb low and especially sugars down to zero. Yogurts are out - because they contains lots of sugar, even the plain has 10 grams of sugar. Milk is pretty high - 12 grams sugar, but cheese, certain cheeses are zero sugars, but in general cheese is okay because it has very low sugar except for processed cheese, which is crazy high - 19 grams. Half and half is fairly low and whole cream is even better. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional and natural methods. How do dairy producers test for aflatoxins in milk? | Behind the Science

05:25
How do dairy farms test milk's safety? One of the tests performed on milk before it’s brought to market is for aflatoxins, a family of toxins produced by certain fungi that are found on agricultural crops such as corn, peanuts, and tree nuts. The concern is that aflatoxins – which are human carcinogens – may be present in grains that are used as feed for cows, and that they may pass on to milk. Dairy producers can use a rapid, simple kit designed by VICAM, a Waters Business, to test milk. Elise Palmer, a research scientist at VICAM, shows Jen how the test works in #BehindtheScience. Just don’t go beyond the limit of your daily calorie intake. -If you don't wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly, the remaining pesticides can slow down your metabolism and cause weight gain. -Adding olive oil to food can leave you feeling fuller much more quickly. As it turns out, the smell of olive oil has its own set of benefits too, extending the period when the sugar level is stable. -If you truly enjoy your meal, you won’t feel hungry any time soon. However, if you hardly eat and feel pressured to eat less, you’ll find yourself standing in front of an open fridge much sooner. -Foods with a low glycemic index are better for people trying to lose weight. Contaminated dairy products can damage the liver

01:48
A type of disease primarily infecting animals may transfer to humans through consumption of contaminated dairy products, experts say. Brucellosis, a disease caused by bacteria under the genus Brucella, often infects domesticated livestock such cattle, swine, goats, and sheep. But despite primarily affecting animals, the bacteria can potentially infect humans through direct contact with or ingestion of contaminated materials and animal products. Dairy products such as milk and cheese are known sources of the bacteria as these products are obtained directly from cattle. Animal meat, if not cooked thoroughly, may contain bacteria. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) infected individuals may experience a wide range of symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle and back pain or fatigue. Symptoms of the disease typically last from 5 days to a month. Experts add, beyond these usual symptoms, brucellosis could pose more harmful risks if not immediately treated. "Kapag hindi naagapan, pwedeng magka-abcess o infection ng mga organs like the liver, the other type naman could lead to disability (If not immediately treated, a person may suffer having an abscess, or the disease can infect organs like the liver. The other type could even lead to disability)," says microbiologist Dr. Windell Rivera. The World Health Organization (WHO) says complications brought by brucellosis could be more dangerous because of its ability to affect almost any organ system in the body. Experts however assure the public that the disease can be treated. According to CDC, generally the antibiotics doxycycline and rifampin are administered. But the public is warned to first consult medical experts. Beyond merely treating the disease, experts also advise undertaking precautionary measures. As much as possible, pasteurized milk or cheeses are to be preferred over raw counterparts in order to lessen the possibility of the disease. Further, experts say washing raw meat, fruits, and vegetables is will help minimize the germs. Ingredients must be cooked thoroughly so that most germs would be destroyed. Lastly, overall sanitary maintenance of kitchens could lessen the possibility of further contamination and contracting further harmful diseases.
