CCO Online Medical Coding Courses Product Line Up

04:54
CCO Online Medical Coding Courses Product Line Up http://www.cco.us/medical-coding-training-certification-products-yt Laureen: This is just to give a quick outline for those who are new to the call, maybe you haven't really got a thorough search of our website, but basically we've got a great Medical Terminology & Anatomy Course. It's actually using a textbook written by a coder for coders, the title of it is Medical Terminology & Anatomy for ICD-10 Coding because it pulls in preview, getting you ready for the new ICD-10 coding system, but it's a typical medical terminology book grouped by organ systems. It's very good; we've got lots of great feedback on it. The course includes the textbook and lectures by me, tests, practice exercises. It's been very well received. We've got our flagship course, the Physician Based Medical Coding Course, PBC for short. That's the one that people take when they're preparing for the CPC course, and that you can work in a physician office, outpatient office. You will get a full CPT training and ICD-9 training and HCPCS. The Facility-Based Medical Coding Course is a fairly new offering that is for those who are preparing for the CPC-H. The "H" on that stands for "outpatient hospital." Not everyone knows that, they think inpatient and outpatient, but it's just outpatient. The AAPC isn't trying to get into the inpatient world, they're leaving that for AHIMA; so the CPC-H is outpatient. It's basically, everything that you learned in the Physician-Based Coding Course, in addition to reimbursement knowledge related to outpatient. The coding aspect chapters are a little more condensed than what you would get in the Physician-Based Coding Course. That's how that one works and we currently have that on sale, $300 off, because it's a new offering. We've got our famous Review Blitz Video Package. With that comes either on DVD or online. If you are a PBC student we bundle that in. We've got our new Mini-Mock Practice Exams. Thank you, Ruth. Those are great, they are just 50 questions each and you can do them like in two hours and get a score immediately online to know how you're doing. Our formula for success you'll hear us talk about is number one, a good course, like our PBC course. Number two, a good review like our Blitz. And number three, timed practice exams until you get an 85%. If you follow those three steps, you are sure to pass your exam the first time. But the practice exams are very key. Once you get your certification and you're looking for CEU classes besides what we offer here once a month we've got CEU Classes (On Demand). I just wanted to draw your attention to the Replay Club. What we've done is, we've broken up every single chapter from the courses and made them into (On Demand) CEU Classes. This might be new for a lot of people on the call even the groupies. So, if you're looking for CEU or if you just want to take one of our chapters, if you will, then this is a great way to do it. We've got Anesthesia, Business of Medicine, Cardiovascular, Digestive, E/M -- that's a popular one. So, check this out. We have got a nice long list now, CEUs, very reasonably priced. I do want to show you that. Then, we've got our ICD-10-CM Mini Course, that kind of helps you transition from your the ICD-9 knowledge to the new ICD-10 Coding system that will help you prepare for the proficiency exam if you're already certified. ICD-10 will not be tested on until January 2015. It goes into effect October 2014, but as far as CPC exam, it won't show up until January 2015. If you want to see a listing of all of our courses and products, just go to CodingCertification.Org/products. Product information management

09:06
Product Information Management or PIM refers to processes and technologies focused on centrally managing information about products, with a focus on the data required to market and sell the products through one or more distribution channels. A central set of product data can be used to feed consistent, accurate and up-to-date information to multiple output media such as web sites, print catalogs, ERP systems, and electronic data feeds to trading partners. PIM systems generally need to support multiple geographic locations, multi-lingual data, and maintenance and modification of product information within a centralized catalog to provide consistently accurate information to multiple channels in a cost-effective manner. The increasing number of channels for product data emphasized the need for product information management, as information kept by businesses is frequently scattered throughout disparate departments and held by certain employees or systems instead of being available centrally. Product data often exists in ERP systems, R&D PLM systems, spreadsheets and personal databases. Data are saved in various formats or are only available in hard copy form. Information is utilized in varying environments and contexts such as for detailed product descriptions with pricing info in product catalogs or for size and weight data for calculating freight costs in a logistics department. PIM in this example represents a solution for centralized, media-independent data maintenance for providing purchasing, production and communications data for repeated use on/in multiple IT systems, languages, output media and publications. It also provides a solution for efficient data collection, management, refinement and output. This video is targeted to blind users. ICD-10-PCS Coding for Measurement and Monitoring with Examples

16:34
ICD-10-PCS Coding for Measurement and Monitoring with Examples http://go.cco.us/icd-10-pcs-procedural-coding-system-course Q: “Could you review how to code for measurement and monitoring in ICD-10-PCS with examples? A: The first thing you have to know about PCS when you’re working with ICD-10-PCS is that it is not like ICD-10-CM and it is not like CPT. What makes PCS different is that it’s not diagnosis coding, so when you see ICD-10 you just automatically think diagnosis. We’re talking about procedure codes, and so of course you think, “OK, CPT,” but we’re not talking about CPT codes. These are things still that you’re doing to a patient in an in-patient facility environment and there are not CPT codes that cover this. In the past with ICD-9, this was bundled in into Volume Three – some of you may remember that – but with ICD-10 now ICD-10-PCS has its own manual. So, you can now separate the way that works. You potentially have to get another manual though because you have ICD-10-CM, PCS and everything. The first thing I want to talk about is Measurement and Monitoring. Measurement – when you think of how to divide PCS, you always have to look for the key term, and the key term with PCS is a little different, a little more complicated than CPT or ICD, those are real straightforward, unlike PCS. So, when you’re looking to code something you have to think, “What am I doing?” and with Measurement, you’re determining the level of the physiological or physical function at a point in time – you’re measuring it. Mutations

07:03
Paul Andersen describes the major mutations found in the living world. He starts with an analogy comparing the information in DNA with the information in a recipe. Changes in the DNA can result in changes to the protein, like changes in the recipe can result in changes in the food. He describes the three major point mutations; substitutions, deletions and insertions. He also describes several chromosomal mutations. Hugh Raffles: "Amazonia" | Talks at Google

45:01
A stunningly original exploration of the ties that bind us to the beautiful, ancient, astoundingly accomplished, largely unknown, and unfathomably different species with whom we share the world. For as long as humans have existed, insects have existed, too. Wherever weve traveled, theyve traveled, too. Yet we hardly know them, not even the ones were closest to: those that eat our food, share our beds, and live in our homes. Organizing his book alphabetically with one entry for each letter, weaving together brief vignettes, meditations, and extended essays, Hugh Raffles embarks on a mesmerizing exploration of history and science, anthropology and travel, economics, philosophy, and popular culture to show us how insects have triggered our obsessions, stirred our passions, and beguiled our imaginations. Raffles offers us a glimpse into the high-stakes world of Chinese cricket fighting, the deceptive courtship rites of the dance fly, the intriguing possibilities of queer insect sex, the vital and vicious role locusts play in the famines of west Africa, how beetles deformed by Chernobyl inspired art, and how our desire and disgust for insects has prompted our own aberrant behavior. Deftly fusing the literary and the scientific, Hugh Raffles has given us an essential book of reference that is also a fascination of the highest order. HUGH RAFFLES teaches anthropology at The New School. He is the author of In Amazonia: A Natural History, which received the Victor Turner Prize in Ethnographic Writing. His essays have been published in Best American Essays, Granta, and Orion. He received a Whiting Writers Award in 2009. He lives in New York City.

Coding Metastatic Breast Cancer Diagnosis

05:09
Coding Metastatic Breast Cancer Diagnosis http://www.cco.us/hcc-coding-risk-adjustment-course-yt Q: [Coding Metastatic Breast Cancer Diagnosis] “If the only documentation is metastatic breast, how can I code it like a secondary, or do I code it as a secondary or primary side?” A: Well, it’s very easy to get confused, like I said, but you have two options with it just saying metastatic breast. You could go with C50.919 - malignant neoplasm of unspecified site, of unspecified female breast. That is an option but a better and the best option is C79.81 - secondary malignant neoplasm of the breast. I’m going to now explain why that’s the best choice. There’s a coding note that I found that’s really worded well, so I took it from that site. I noted it there. When neoplasms are malignant, you get to review the provider documentation to identify the primary site and any secondary, and notice I put in brackets here (metastatic) sites. Look for documentation that identifies the spread “from” the primary site “to” the secondary site. The reason this really popped for me is because they said secondary metastatic site. Now, let’s look into this a little bit more, again the footnote on there is a great site. That site is will be in the Replay Club and you can bookmark that site, http://ICD-10online.com which is fantastic. As we scroll down here’s a couple other things that I found on this website that again really, really popped for us. What is metastatic cancer? Now, as you’re coding, you learn this very quickly because you’re tested on it. So, one of the things that is covered frequently; however, the lingo and the verbiage sometimes you get kind of confused because they’re throwing all these stuff at you. To metastasize is to move from one place to another, so we’ve already know that. We’ll say that’s something that’s kind of easy to remember. Medical Coding Tutorial — How To Code Continuous Nerve Blocks

04:20
Medical Coding Tutorial — How To Code Continuous Nerve Blocks http://www.cco.us/ceu-endocrine-nervous-system-on-demand-class-yt This nerve block follow up care, I had to call my friend Diana that went to Orlando with me just to confirm some information about this. Q: The question was: When coding continuous nerve blocks -- and that's the listing for different nerve blocks -- how do you code for the follow up when the patient is sent home with the catheter and the follow up is being done via telephone by the anesthesiologist? A: Now for one, in her background, she said she didn't think this was done very often but that doesn't mean, obviously, it [doesn't happen] because someone wouldn't be asking this question. For an answer, this is what information she had given me. She said, it all depends, and this is what you need to know. First of all, you don't have enough information given to just say if these nerve blocks are used. You need to know why the nerve block was being given. What you need to know is if there's a global period with the condition. Let's say someone had back surgery and they had spurs cut off of their spine and they more or less slit them from C1 to L5, and there's a lot of pain involved; but they don't necessarily need to be in the hospital, they just need pain control. So, they give him a pain pump and they send them home. That's kind of what I'm thinking that this is. Now, on that surgery if it's a major surgery, there's going to be a global period that goes along with that. Now, if it's not a major surgery, and for whatever reason, it's a pain control issue, maybe they have a little back pain and they're trying this, that's not going to have a global period with it. You need to know what was the procedure that was done to the patient that had them need this catheter to be placed and the pain to be taken care of. Now, that being said, now that you've got that information, let's say you do have a global period, you still need to check with the payer because if it's in the global period, then you're not going to get paid. Then, if you call the payer and they're on Medicare, chances are Medicare doesn't pay for telephone visits as far as I know. You can't use it. What you would do is, you would just document that the anesthesiologist called and did a check on the patient and you can't turn it in. If you can turn it in, you still have to document it and you would use a telephone E/M and I think I have those listed at the bottom. I don't know. I'm not sure. I think I did. No go up, go back up. I thought I listed them. Well, okay, it's true. I gave a range. Go down just a little bit. There it is, 99441-99443, those are E/M codes for telephone services. You could use one of those, but definitely check with the payer because most likely they're not going to pay for that. It still has to be documented. You aren't going to document it with a code, you're just going to document it. Definition and Types of Transformer || classification of transformers || transformer

03:02
Definition and Types of Transformer Definition-Definition and Types of Transformer Definition :-A transformer is a static machine used for transforming power from one circuit to another without changing frequency. This is a very basic definition of transformer. Since there is no rotating or moving part so transformer is a static device. Transformer operates on ac supply. Transformer works on the principle of mutual induction. Types of Transformer Transformers can be categorized in different ways, depending upon their purpose, use, construction etc. The types of transformer are as follows, 1. Step Up Transformer & Step Down Transformer - Generally used for stepping up and down the voltage level of power in transmission and distribution power system network. 2. Three Phase Transformer & Single Phase Transformer - Former is generally used in three phase power system as it is cost effective than later. But when size matters, it is preferable to use a bank of three single phase transformer as it is easier to transport than one single three phase transformer unit. 3. Electrical Power Transformer, Distribution Transformer & Instrument Transformer - Power transformers are generally used in transmission network for stepping up or down the voltage level. It operates mainly during high or peak loads and has maximum efficiency at or near full load. Distribution transformer steps down the voltage for distribution purpose to domestic or commercial users. It has good voltage regulation and operates 24 hrs a day with maximum efficiency at 50% of full load. Instrument transformers include C.T & P.T which are used to reduce high voltages and current to lesser values which can be measured by conventional instruments. 4. Two Winding Transformer & Auto Transformer - Former is generally used where ratio between high voltage and low voltage is greater than 2. It is cost effective to use later where the ratio between high voltage and low voltage is less than 2. 5. Outdoor Transformer & Indoor Transformer - Transformers that are designed for installing at outdoor are outdoor transformers and transformers designed for installing at indoor are indoor transformers. 6. Oil Cooled & Dry Type Transformer - In oil cooled transformer the cooling medium is transformer oil whereas the dry type transformer is air cooled. 7. Core type, Shell type & Berry type transformer - In core type transformer it has two vertical legs or limbs with two horizontal sections named yoke. Core is rectangular in shape with a common magnetic circuit. Cylindrical coils (HV & LV) are placed on both the limbs. Shell type transformer: It has a central limb and two outer limbs. Both HV, LV coils are placed on the central limb. Double magnetic circuit is present. Berry type transformer: The core looks like spokes of wheels. Tightly fitted metal sheet tanks are used for housing this type of transformer with transformer oil filled inside. for more information please go to below links- http://upsystems1.clickforward.com/products/distribution-transformers?_vsrefdom=p.14906 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformer_types http://www.thomasnet.com/articles/electrical-power-generation/transformer-types http://www.electricaltechnology.org/2012/02/working-principle-of-transformer.html http://www.galco.com/comp/prod/trnsfmrs.htm Tags-Definition and Types of Transformer, definition and types of transformer, transformer definition, electrical transfomer, current transformer for control application hind, transformer, transformer animation, what is transformer, working principle of transformer, principle of transformer, transformers working principle, energy, engineering study, current transformer types, transformer (invention), current transformer, current transformer types, what is current transformer, please subscribe to my channel -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Introduction of Instrument Transformers | Instrument Transformers" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWUljK0YLsY -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Medical Coding Training — Difference Between Septicemia, SIRS and Sepsis

05:52
"From the August 2014 Coding Certification Q and A Webinar": Free for all! Get CEU's!" Medical Coding Training — Difference Between Septicemia, SIRS and Sepsis http://www.cco.us/medical-coding-training-certification-products-yt Q: Compare Septicemia, SIRS and Sepsis. What are the differences? A: Well, this gets very confusing. That little [star] up there, this will work for a specialty CEU, I believe. The American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine have established 4 different levels of sepsis. The levels and symptoms are as follows: 1. Systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) - you’ve probably heard of SIRS before? And this gives you a list of things that a person has SIRS, signs and symptoms that we have. You’ve got hypothermia (your temperature is below 97°F) or a fever (a temperature above 100°F), tachycardia (heart rate more than 100 beats per minute); tachypnea (rapid breath, more than 20 breaths per minute) or hypocapnia (arterial CO2 less than 32 mmHg); and leukopenia or leukocytosis (white blood count that is either too low or too high). There is no confirmed infectious process in SIRS. 2. What happens when you go to the next level? Well, you have sepsis. And sepsis is SIRS – everything that we just talked about before – in response to a confirmed infectious process. They see the infection; they know where it’s at. 3. Severe sepsis – what happens when it graduates, I guess, you can call it – it includes the dysfunction of one or more organs. You get hypotension, you get hypoperfusion, and it’s going to affect one or more organs. 4. It could turn into septic shock – sepsis with persistent arterial hypotension or hypoperfusion despite adequate fluid resuscitation. Last, septicemia, which is a serious, life-threatening infection that gets worse very quickly. It can arise from infections throughout the body, including infections in the lungs, abdomen, and urinary tract. It may come before or at the same time as the infection is found. What’s really scary is that older people sometimes suffer that and they’ll get like a urinary tract infection and it just goes through the body and their body starts shutting down organs. Areca nut plantation in South India

01:09
A bunch of Areca nut ready for harvest in South India. The pre-bearing age of the palm ranges from 5 to 8 years. Though inflorescence initiation has been observed in every leaf axil, there is absorption of inflorescences to about 5 per cent. The plant is monoecious, producing both male and female flowers on the same tree. The spadix of a grown-up palm produces on an average, 294 female flowers. The colour of the fruit during its growth changes from green to different shades of yellow and red during ripening. In some places, tender nuts are mature nuts are harvested. Tender nuts are harvested from July to December and ripe nuts from December to March or from May to July. Three or four plucking are done during the whole season. The areca nut palm is the source of common chewing nut, popularly known as betel nut or Supari. In India it is extensively used by large sections of people and is very much linked with religious practices. India is the largest producer of areca nut and at the same time largest consumer also.Major states cultivating this crop are Karnataka (40%), Kerala (25%), Assam (20%), Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya and West Bengal. Workshop on Abusive Language - 02 - Virtualpolitik

44:20
The last few years have seen a surge in abusive online behavior, with governments, social media platforms, and individuals struggling to cope with the consequences and to produce effective methods to combat it. In many cases, online forums, comment sections, and social media interaction have become sites of bullying, scapegoating, and hate speech. These forms of online aggression not only poison the social climate of the online communities that experience it, but can also provoke physical violence and harm. Addressing abusive language necessitates a multi-disciplinary approach that requires knowledge from several fields, including (but not limited to): media studies, natural language processing (NLP), psychology, sociology, law, gender studies, communications, and critical race theory. NLP, as a field that directly works with computationally analyzing language, is in a unique position to develop automated methods to analyse, detect, and filter abusive language. By working across disciplinary divides, researchers in all these fields can produce a comprehensive approach to abusive language that blends together computational, social and legal methods. In this one-day workshop, we therefore want to bring researchers of various disciplines together to discuss approaches to abusive language. The workshop will include invited speakers and panelists from fields within and outside of NLP, as well as submitted papers from researchers across all areas. In addition, the workshop will host an “unshared task”. SPONSERS: Malcolm S. Forbes Center for Culture and Media Studies, StainTek, Amazon, Google, The New York Times & Bloomberg

The Great Gildersleeve: Town Is Talking / Leila's Party for Joanne / Great Tchaikovsky Love Story

01:29:30
The Great Gildersleeve (1941--1957), initially written by Leonard Lewis Levinson, was one of broadcast history's earliest spin-off programs. Built around Throckmorton Philharmonic Gildersleeve, a character who had been a staple on the classic radio situation comedy Fibber McGee and Molly, first introduced on Oct. 3, 1939, ep. #216. The Great Gildersleeve enjoyed its greatest success in the 1940s. Actor Harold Peary played the character during its transition from the parent show into the spin-off and later in a quartet of feature films released at the height of the show's popularity. On Fibber McGee and Molly, Peary's Gildersleeve was a pompous windbag who became a consistent McGee nemesis. "You're a haa-aa-aa-aard man, McGee!" became a Gildersleeve catchphrase. The character was given several conflicting first names on Fibber McGee and Molly, and on one episode his middle name was revealed as Philharmonic. Gildy admits as much at the end of "Gildersleeve's Diary" on the Fibber McGee and Molly series (Oct. 22, 1940). He soon became so popular that Kraft Foods—looking primarily to promote its Parkay margarine spread — sponsored a new series with Peary's Gildersleeve as the central, slightly softened and slightly befuddled focus of a lively new family. Premiering on August 31, 1941, The Great Gildersleeve moved the title character from the McGees' Wistful Vista to Summerfield, where Gildersleeve now oversaw his late brother-in-law's estate and took on the rearing of his orphaned niece and nephew, Marjorie (originally played by Lurene Tuttle and followed by Louise Erickson and Mary Lee Robb) and Leroy Forester (Walter Tetley). The household also included a cook named Birdie. Curiously, while Gildersleeve had occasionally spoken of his (never-present) wife in some Fibber episodes, in his own series the character was a confirmed bachelor. In a striking forerunner to such later television hits as Bachelor Father and Family Affair, both of which are centered on well-to-do uncles taking in their deceased siblings' children, Gildersleeve was a bachelor raising two children while, at first, administering a girdle manufacturing company ("If you want a better corset, of course, it's a Gildersleeve") and then for the bulk of the show's run, serving as Summerfield's water commissioner, between time with the ladies and nights with the boys. The Great Gildersleeve may have been the first broadcast show to be centered on a single parent balancing child-rearing, work, and a social life, done with taste and genuine wit, often at the expense of Gildersleeve's now slightly understated pomposity. Many of the original episodes were co-written by John Whedon, father of Tom Whedon (who wrote The Golden Girls), and grandfather of Deadwood scripter Zack Whedon and Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). The key to the show was Peary, whose booming voice and facility with moans, groans, laughs, shudders and inflection was as close to body language and facial suggestion as a voice could get. Peary was so effective, and Gildersleeve became so familiar a character, that he was referenced and satirized periodically in other comedies and in a few cartoons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Gildersleeve
