Jim Hall/Bob Brookmeyer - Live at the North Sea Jazz Festival (1979 Album)
"Released for the first time on this 1999 Challenge CD, this live set features the unusual duo of guitarist Jim Hall and valve trombonist Bob Brookmeyer, two-thirds of the 1957 Jimmy Giuffre Three. Although there are occasions when one of the musicians accompanies the other one, much of the time Hall and Brookmeyer function as equals, improvising together on a set of standards plus an ad-lib blues called "Sweet Basil." Their ability to improvise while thinking of the whole picture and their knack for spontaneously harmonizing really come in handy during this intriguing and frequently exciting outing. Among the selections reborn in the playing of Hall and Brookmeyer are John Lewis' "Skating in Central Park," "Body and Soul," "Darn That Dream," and "St. Thomas." A successful effort that should not have taken 20 years to release." -AllMusic 1.Skating in Central Park 2. I Hear a Rhapsody 3. My Funny Valentine 4. Body and Soul 5. In a Sentimental Mood 6. Lary Graham with special guest Prince North Sea Jazz 2013
RIP Prince. I went to six concerts of PRINCE in Holland, the first in 1987, the last in 2011 (nightconcert at NSJ). In 2013 he appeared during the performance of Larry Graham, one of his inspirors. He was so humble during this performance. I'm glad I was there to see him for the last time (and to make this film). I'm sad I will never see him again. His music was and will remain so important to me.

Gas find in North Sea hailed as biggest in a decade - Risingus
Breaking News Gas find in North Sea hailed as biggest in a decade A significant gas discovery in the central North Sea is being described as the biggest find in more than a decade. The Chinese state-owned company CNOOC said it had discovered 250 million barrels of recoverable gas in its Glengorm project, east of Aberdeen. Further appraisal work is planned, but the company said it could be extracted using existing infrastructure. Friends of the Earth Scotland said the find was terrible news for the climate and that it should stay in the ground. Glengorm sits 118 miles (190km) east of Aberdeen, close to Total's Elgin-Franklin and Culzean fields, and could be tied back to one of their platforms. Total owns a 25% stake in the Glengorm field. Xie Yuhong, of CNOOC, said the company was "looking forward to further appraisal". Still life in mature waters Kevin McLachlan, of Total, added: "Glengorm is another great success for Total in the North Sea, with results at the top end of expectations and a high condensate yield in addition to the gas. "Our strong position in the region will enable us to leverage existing infrastructures nearby and optimise the development of this discovery. "Glengorm is an achievement that demonstrates our capacity to create value in a mature environment thanks to our in-depth understanding of the basin." Analysts Wood Mackenzie described the find as the largest in the North Sea since the Culzean field was discovered in 2008. Senior analyst Kevin Swann said: "There is a lot of hype around frontier areas like West of Shetland, where Total discovered the Glendronach field last year. But Glengorm is in the Central North Sea and this find shows there is still life in some of the more mature UK waters." Environmental groups have criticised the discovery which, they say, will further contribute to climate change. They want energy companies to leave oil and gas in the ground and focus instead on renewable sources. Climate destruction Caroline Rance, from Friends of the Earth Scotland, said: "It's a disgrace that oil and gas exploration is still going ahead in the seas off Scotland. "It's high time our governments stopped supporting fossil fuel development, and get serious about planning a just transition away from this industry. "These companies know all too well that their business is built on the destruction of the climate, which is devastating for millions of people around the world but they continue to seek profit from driving this catastrophe." The Oil and Gas Authority has welcomed the discover, and said it demonstrated the considerable potential the industry still had to offer. Chief executive Andy Samuel said: "This is very exciting news. Glengorm was first mapped as a prospect around 20 years ago and it is great to see CNOOC taking up the exploration opportunity and completing a difficult high-pressure, high-temperature exploration well. "Our official estimate is that there still remains between 10 and 20 billion barrels plus to be recovered, so there is every chance of yet more significant finds, provided industry can increase exploration drilling and capitalise on the real value to be had here in the UK."

TenneT North Sea Power Hub
By developing the North Sea Wind Power Hub, TenneT and Energinet.dk want to make the energy transition both feasible and affordable. Central to the plan is the construction of one or more islands, so called Power Link Islands with interconnections to surrounding countries, in the middle of the North Sea (Dogger Bank): to which many wind farms can be connected (possibly 70,000 MW to 100,000 MW); from where the generated wind energy can be distributed and transmitted over direct current lines to the North Sea countries of the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Norway and Belgium; where transmission cables will simultaneously function as interconnectors between the energy markets of the aforementioned countries. Besides transmitting wind electricity to the connected countries, these 'wind connectors' will enable the countries to trade electricity; where wind conditions are optimal.

Mulatu Astatke live at North Sea Jazz 2018
Mulatu Astatke WORLD FUSION SO 15 JULY 2018 MADEIRA 18:00 - 19:15 This concert has already taken place Line up About In the golden days of Ethiopian jazz, there was one name that was central: Mulatu Astatke. And actually that is still true. The keyboard player introduced instruments such as the congas and the vibraphone into the music of his homeland, but also brought the hypnotic Ethiopian melodies to American jazz. It was a small, funky revolution. His soul-oriented groove continued to inspire other musicians well beyond the seventies. His music is still eagerly sampled by DJs and producers. Astatke has been in the spotlight for several years now and he has lost nothing of his old gifts. If someone knows how to link American jazz and the deep East African mystical music, the so-called 'Éthiopiques', then it is Grand Master Mulatu Astatke.

North Atlantic Ocean Spawns Largest Wave Ever Recorded
Scientists from the World Meteorological Organization have measured the largest wave ever recorded: a six-story behemoth in the North Atlantic Ocean. The data was taken from a buoy located between Iceland and the U.K., and a committee has classified the the 62.3-foot wave as the highest ever measured by a buoy. The previous record of 59.96 feet was measured in 2007, and also occurred in the North Atlantic at around the same time of the year. Scientists attribute the swells to strong cold fronts, which may produce winds of up to 43.8 knots or 50.4 miles an hour in the area. These monster waves typically occur in the North Atlantic, where wind circulation patterns and atmospheric pressure in winter leads to intense extra-tropical storms. http://www.nbcnews.com/science/environment/world-s-largest-wave-was-62-3-foot-surge-atlantic-n695741?cid=public-rss_20161214 http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com
