It has been said that trust is the glue that holds people, organizations and societies together. Without trust, relationships become rigid, less efficient and economies are slowed. Yet, despite all the studies and platitudes, trust may be one of the most misunderstood, misinterpreted and misapplied aspects of human and organizational relationships. Based upon years of his award-winning research in psychology and business, Jim Davis explains what trust is along with its associated risks. He will explain what can be done to influence how people trust you by nurturing three traits others perceive about you. Davis describes how he has worked with organizations and individuals throughout the world to improve trusting relationships. James H. Davis is a professor of strategic management and the chairman of the Management Department at Utah State University. Prior to USU, he was the John F. O’Shaughnessy Professor of Family Enterprises and professor of strategic management at the University of Notre Dame. He earned his PhD in corporate strategy from the University of Iowa. He has worked with many major national and multinational corporations on strategic planning and company positioning. His research was recognized by The Academy of Management Review as the most influential theory of the decade of the 1990s. He is the author of two books: Social Capital: Multidisciplinary Perspectives and Growth Simply: The three-circle model. He has been a secondary education teacher, a school psychologist, private therapist and a regional mental health coordinator for the Head Start Program. Jim also plays woodwinds and has performed in many of the great concert halls and cathedrals in Europe and North America. He loves hiking, fishing and running—recently completing a 200+ mile Ragnar relay— and enjoys spending time his children and the love of his life, Jennifer. Make sure you are properly diagnosed because the symptoms can be something more serious and dangerous if not properly diagnosed. The first exercises are called Brandt-Daroff exercises. Start in an upright, seated position. Then move into a lying position on one side with your nose pointed up at about a 45-degree angle. Stay in this position for about 30 seconds (or until the vertigo subsides, whichever is longer). Then move back to the seated position and stay for 30 seconds. Repeat on the other side. This should be done 5 times, 2 times a day holding each position for 30 seconds. The next set of exercises are called Gaze Stabilization exercises. Keeping your head in one spot, move your eyes side to side as smoothly as you can 10 times. Then move them up and down 10 times. Next move them at a diagonal 10 times one way, and then 10 times the other way. You might get some symptoms while doing this, but if you can keep moving them, the symptoms should go away. Finally, you are going to move your head, but keep your eyes focused on one spot. Hold out your finger in front of you, or put an X or A, or any letter on a piece of paper on the wall. While focusing on the one spot, move your head side to side as smoothly as you can 10 times. Then move it up and down 10 times. The Prusa i3 MK3 seems to have an extrusion issue. When my Prusa i3 mk3 was brand new it gave out some great prints with excellent surface quality, but in the last few months that quality has dramatically decreased and now it looks terrible as a result of what looks like extrusion inconsistencies. The amount of plastic coming out of the hot end onto the bed seems to change over time when it should be consistent. I should have mentioned Linear Advance. I think this might actually be causing the issue. This is a software feature that modifies the extrusion over time to coincide with acceleration and deceleration of the print head and provide a more consistent line.
