Crazy DANGERS Of Deep Sea Diving
Of course, there are a ton of reasons to go for an adventure far under the surface of the ocean, but do you know all of the potential risks that accompany each and every dive? If you didn’t, here they are, these are the 15 Dangers Of Deep Sea Diving. #7 - Nitrogen Narcosis Nitrogen Narcosis is yet another serious issue divers need to be aware of. When the human body gets too much nitrogen in their system, it creates a kind of narcotic effect. It would feel like the nitrous-oxide gas given to you at the dentist’s office. While you might enjoy that woozy feeling when you’re inside a dentist’s office on dry land, this is not a feeling you would want to experience when you are far under water. Nitrogen narcosis damages both sensory perception and judgment making each decision the affected diver makes a potentially dire one. #6 - Gaps In Actual Experience If you are an experienced diver, you know that there is a rule that states you have to take a refresher course every six months that you haven’t been actively diving. Although you, being a diver, might laugh because you believe that the course really isn’t all that big of a deal, it really is very important. After not diving for just a few months, some of the very minor but incredibly important and vital details of the preparation or procedure of diving could be forgotten. Depending on which part you forget, that tiny sliver of information might just cost you your life. Just take the refresher course to get back in the loop. #5 - Losing Your “Buddy” It might seem silly but the “Buddy System” is really important when it comes to dives and swimming out in the ocean. If you have a buddy, there should always be at least one other person in the water that is concerned with your safety and survival. The ocean is not a place to lose your buddy. #4 - “The Bends” Decompression sickness is most often referred to as “the bends” and it is caused by increased pressure which makes the tissues in a body absorb more nitrogen. When that fierce pressure is suddenly reduced, the extra nitrogen can form tiny nitrogen bubbles that can kill. When deep sea divers want to return to the ocean’s surface, they must do so in distinct stages that are carefully monitored so that they can best control the rate of which the absorbed nitrogen is released. The bends can range from the affected having aching joints, a creepy skin rash, or paralysis and even possibly death. Do NOT go diving without being properly trained. It is not a hobby that you can just pick up an afternoon. #3 - Not Wearing Adequate Protection We aren’t just talking about wearing durable gloves while checking out a sunken shipwreck, although if you do get cut without wearing protective gloves, you can get tetanus, which doesn’t sound like fun. We’re talking about wearing gear that is suited to the climate and temperatures of the weather and the ocean you are diving into. When you are wearing a short wetsuit, don’t go play around in some coral where you can easily get cut up, which could lead to even more danger. Also, the temperature of the water gets colder the further down you get, so make sure you dress appropriately, it’s not like you can just put on a jacket once you’re underwater. #2 - Oxygen Toxicity Oxygen toxicity happens only when the person is deep sea diving and goes more than 135 feet below the surface. Just like nitrogen, which caused a lot of problems for divers earlier, the body absorbs more oxygen when the body finds itself underneath increased water pressure. Experienced divers know how to deal with the increase of oxygen but as the pressure and depth increase, the body absorbs more and more oxygen and too much can become toxic. The symptoms start with tunnel vision and nausea and then switch to loss of consciousness and seizures. If either one of the last things happens while you’re underwater, you’re most likely never making it to the surface again. #1 - Mask Squeeze The woman in this picture looks like she is about to start bleeding from her eyeballs which is a rather frightening thing to see. However, she isn’t a lead role in an up and coming horror film, she’s suffering from a diver’s condition called “mask squeeze.” When the pressure of the air inside the mask isn’t equalized correctly, the outside pressure causes the scuba mask to be pushed on the diver’s face resulting in this scary painful look. The small blood vessels surrounding and in the eyes burst, which leads to the bloody eyeballs you see here. This is not the look she was going for, we’re sure of that.

Shocking Events at Sea You Never Hear About Carnival Cruises
Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com 1. Woman Sentenced for Bomb Threat After a night of reveling over a few cocktails, while on a cruise in the Caribbean 31-year-old Sarah Kirby lost her balance, managed to flop over the regulation 42-inch-high railings of her balcony and plunged about 100 feet into the dark waters below. Don't worry, she actually lived to tell the tale, and was rescued after spending two hours adrift at sea. Rather than offering kudos to Carnival for saving her life, Kirby turned around and sued them for the incident, claiming that they not only took too long finding her, but they were also somehow responsible for pushing Long Island ice-teas on her by offering $5 casino incentives per drink purchase. She lost. One spokesman said, “personal responsibility has to enter into the picture." 2. Passenger Evicted As Bio-Terrorism Suspect Bar tabs are a big profit center for the cruise industry, and lots of passengers in holiday mode tend to overindulge without much monitoring from the crew. Sadly 18-year-old high school senior Seth Younes imbibed so much that he was found unresponsive in his cabin by his 14-year-old brother, while on an eight-day spring break Caribbean cruise with his family The autopsy confirmed his death was due to accidental acute alcohol poisoning. Perhaps this tragedy can serve as a cautionary tale for parents not to let their guards down on vacations like this. 3. Death by Alcohol Poisoning Waking up to a fire alarm and smoke in the hallways was just the first part of this nightmare cruise back in February 2013 (a bad month for Carnival). After diesel generator No. 6 ignited into flames that fateful morning, the ship's power was compromised to the point that over 4000 passengers and crew sat adrift 150 miles off the Yucatan coast for four days before they could be towed to Mobile, Alabama. There was no air conditioning. Lights, food and water were limited. Perhaps most significantly, toilets overflowed and it became known as the "poop cruise". 4. Fire Left Carnival Triumph Dead in the Water On the Carnival Victory a few years back, a Massachusetts couple woke in the middle of the night and found "40, 50, 60 bugs just crawling all over the top half of the bed." Carnival acknowledged the infestation and said they suspected a previous guest brought them onboard. 5. Bed Bugs on the Carnival Victory A 17-year-old passenger on the Carnival Sensation claimed she was subjected to an aggressive strip search and other humiliations when she was suspected of being in possession of marijuana in April 2011. She says she was forced to take off her clothes, remove a tampon, urinate, and undergo a genital cavity examination by security staff. She said she wasn't informed of her rights and couldn't have her mother present during the interrogation. During the trial, it came to light that the girl had embellished her story (she admitted that she voluntarily took off her underwear and tampon just to get things over with) Carnival won the case. 6. Unwarranted Cavity Search Linda Gayle Wilson made repeated phone calls to authorities claiming there was a female terrorist carrying a bomb on board the Carnival Dream in October 2012. A ship-wide search was conducted but, thankfully, no explosives were found. She was later sentenced to 12 months in a federal prison for the hoax. Sadly, bomb scares are a frequent occurrence on cruise ships. 7. Lawsuit for Falling Overboard In May 2012, a Nashville neurosurgeon named Dr. Jack Kruse was to give a speech on the Carnival Magic about his diet plan. Then found himself a suspect of bio-terrorism. "I had no idea what I was being accused of. They went out of their way not to tell me," said Kruse. Apparently somebody had sent a tweet using Kruse's name that mentioned he had a vial of something for a "bio hack" on the ship. When this suspicious tweet was brought to Carnival's attention, they notified the FBI, who proceeded to question the good doctor then escorted him off the ship. Upon further investigation, the tweet was found to be on a parody account under Kruse's name, and he was cleared. Carnival stands by its protocol and take all threats to security seriously.

SCARED FOR MY LIFE! Sailing at 22 knots boat speed down HUGE waves (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 105
Yep, La Vagabonde reached 22.7 knots boat speed. We couldn’t believe it. With a max of 28 knots wind behind us from about 120 degrees, we surfed down one wave and then caught the next one in front of that. Before we knew it we were all looking at a 22.7 on the nav gear. I had a close eye on the bows making sure they weren't going to bury, they looked like they might but Riley "promised" me that it was normal and fine!! Matthieu says we could have got 25 knots so looks like Riley will be aiming for that next time… I never thought I’d go this fast on a sail boat. Still in recovery from this wild experience. Very happy to still be here to tell you this tale, to be alive and writing this very description is a miracle. I love you guys, Elayna. In late November 2010 I took my family on a 9 day cruise. It left from Baltimore, Maryland and sailed to the Caribbean. Here’s what happened during the 9 day cruise: As we left a Low Pressure System was moving eastwards, out so sea. This was bringing the rain we were experiencing as we drove to the port. This low pressure system was supposed to move out to sea and then northeast into the Atlantic. Upon waking on Day 2 we went up to the deck and experienced incredible winds. These winds were strong enough to blow people off their feet. Seems awesome but after sitting down for breakfast in the Windjammer Cafe on the 9th level, nausea set in from the constant rocking. Dramamine helped but did not alleviate all symptoms. Day 3 was exactly like Day 2 except they closed off the outside upper deck because of the intense wind. Waking on Day 4 we were in the Caribbean. The sailing was smooth and the sea sickness was gone. However, it was raining and sometimes pouring. We were in beautiful Puerto Rico though, so we went out and made the best of it, always hopeful that the rain would cease. Day 5 we were at St Thomas and even though it was still raining we decided to go to Megan’s Bay. Normally smooth as glass, we experienced crushing waves that were powerful enough that I eventually had to tell my kids they couldn't go into the water anymore. The video doesn't really demonstrate how powerful and exhausting those waves were. Day 6 we arrived at the Dominican Republic with beautiful sunny skies. This was the first day that Splash Zone was open for the kids so we chose to stay on the boat, let the kids play and enjoy drinks on the deck. It was true bliss and this was what I had spent $4800 for! Day 7 we arrived at Labadee and the rain had returned! Regardless, we ventured out and spent the day in the rain, on the beach, getting wet and cold. Eventually though we were all so cold and shivering we had to call it quits and get back on the boat. At least we weren't sea sick anymore. Days 8 and 9. By this point we were eager to just set sail for home. The wind, sea sickness and rain had dampened our spirits. The sailing home would be a time to relax and just sit on the deck and drink. But it got worse! That Low Pressure System had stalled right off the coast and strengthened. Now here's something everyone should know. If there are white caps in the middle of the ocean, they will rock any boat a lot more than you might expect. So when we woke on Day 8 the sea sickness was back in full force. All of the decks were closed and the doors were locked. Sea sickness bags were hanging at every elevator, stairwell and doorway. The store sold out of Dramamine. Luckily I had bought more in Puerto Rico. So my family spent the last 2 days, laying in our room, puking while I found solitude in filming the massive splashes caused by the ship crashing into the waves. One last thing, on day 8, maybe around 2 PM the ship got hit by a rogue wave which tipped us very far to the left then back to the right. There was smashing of glass coming from throughout the ship and upon investigation, the windjammer cafe was destroyed, along with all of the stores - all of the stuff came crashing off of the shelves. Anything not bolted down was on its side. So they closed the Windjammer and stores for the remainder of the cruise - which was just 1 day. They also would not allow any video to be taken of the destruction. Upon arriving home many people dropped down and kissed the ground - no lie. Since this cruise my kids have expressed to me that they would never want to cruise again and we haven't.

The Best Sea to Sky Experience (Bungee + Wake Surfing)
It's a completely action packed episode today with two adrenaline pumping activities; bungee jumping in Whistler, and wake surfing at Deep Cove in North Vancouver. And coincidentally, we celebrated one of our good friends, Zachary Moxley. The Sea To Sky Highway is an iconic and a must do for those who want to experience Vancouver. It just begins to scratch the surface of what British Columbia has to offer. The province is extremely vast, after all. We found ourselves at Whistler to experience an incredible bungee jump (look at the location!), before hitting up a Mexican restaurant for some lunch. Be sure to see Zach scarf down that burrito. It's a hilarious sight. And to top off the day, we spent our time wake surfing down in Deep Cove! And of course we had to fit in some of those classic HoL backflips and gainers 💁🏼‍♂️ --------------------- SPECIAL THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING: • Zach • http://instagram.com/downtofilm • Kyle • http://instagram.com/kyleslee • Jacob • http://instagram.com/jacobcrawfordfilm --------------------- FOLLOW US: • Parker • http://instagram.com/parkerheuser • Dan • http://instagram.com/photosbyusher • Justis • http://instagram.com/justis • Kenzo • http://instagram.com/kenzokiren • Josh • http://instagram.com/joshua.laplap • Arjun • http://instagram.com/badtothebone • Instagram • https://www.instagram.com/Highonlife • Facebook • https://www.facebook.com/Sundayfundayz • Twitter • https://www.twitter.com/Sundayfundayz GET OUR PODCAST ON AUDIO: https://anchor.fm/highonlife/episodes... I Had A Bad Experience With Drugs
By Kassandra | Ready to "wear it out loud?” Merch store open, SHOP NOW: http://bit.ly/storybooth-merch | Subscribe: http://bit.ly/sub2storybooth | Record your story @ https://storybooth.com or our iPhone app for a chance to get animated. Comment, like, share this story. Kassandra isn't a bad kid at all, and neither is her boyfriend who she has been with for a while, and so it was maybe a little bit weird that one morning on their way into school her boyfriend showed her that he had a weed brownie with him - an edible pot brownie that his cousin had given him - but that didn't bother her much. They felt like they were old enough to make their own decisions - sophomores in high school - and they were both up for trying new things - but having it at school was a little odd. But, on their way into school her boyfriend freaked out because, like so many schools now, they had heightened security and there was a K-9 unit, and he was sure that the dog would sniff out the pot brownie and that would be the end of his high school career. So, Kassandra - to her boyfriend's surprise, said - "okay, let's eat it now!" before we go in." Neither of them had ever tried anything like that before, and so they didn't really know how much to eat, or how it would feel, or how long it would take to start working. So they just pretty much split the brownie in half and ate it all up. Kassandra thought it would be like an instant change, and that she would feel the weed right away, and after she ate it she felt totally normal. She kind of forgot about it and they went off to first period, gym, where they were all playing tennis. And that's when it started - the weed brownie started to work. She began to feel a little bit woozy and shaky, and she was laughing at absolutely everything, everything was funny to her. After first period - gym - when she got into the girl's locker room was when things really stated getting weird. The room started spinning in circles and she got really dizzy - it felt like she was on a boat drifting through the sea. She grabbed her friend and told her what happened, how they had eaten the weed brownie before school started and how now, she really felt like it was kicking in. She walked down the hall to her second period and her mouth got so dry. She felt like it was made of sand paper. Right when she sat down in her second period class the room started spinning around again but this time it all felt like it was moving in slow motion - even her teacher seemed to moving slowly as he approached her and asked if she was okay. She had to deal with the reality that she really didn't feel okay and so she asked if she could go to the nurse. She was freaking out all the way to the nurse's office - dreamy and weird feeling, it was a bad experience. They gave her water and sat her down and asked her what was going on, was she on any medication or anything and she didn't know what to say so she just blurted out that she had taken a weed brownie that morning, and they totally freaked out about it - called the vice principal in who was also freaked out about it, and really mad too. She had a really stern look on her face and went on and on, but Kassandra doesn't remember a thing she said. All she can remember is that she held the principal's hand so tight because she was somehow convinced that she was about to fall off the chair and that somehow that would be an awful thing to happen. She was having a real out of body experience - too much. It was a bad experience with drugs. Finally her mom got there to pick her up and when she found out what had happened she was so mad and on the way home Kassandra was crying and sobbing and still everything was going in slow motion. Now, the one good thing that came out of all of this is that she and her grandma were in a real feud at the time, not talking at all and angry at each other, but, on weed for some reason, all Kassandra could do was hug her grandma and tell her how much she loved and appreciated her - mended! Still, Kassandra does not recommend that anyone do drugs, especially at school where you are almost guaranteed to have a very bad time. She doesn't regret it, but, she wouldn't do it over again if given the choice. In this case she had a bad experience with drugs. - - - We love this true story. 10 Worst Cruise Cabins on a Ship ~ How to Avoid Bad Staterooms
There are 10 cabins on a cruise you might want to stay away from. We are going through the 10 worst cabins on a cruise ship. To read more on why you should avoid these cabins check out our post here: https://cruisefever.net/1021-cabins-on-cruises-that-should-be-avoided/ If you’re living on a cruise ship for a few days you’re already doing pretty good in life, but not all staterooms are created equal. Before you book your cruise, make sure you know what kind of stateroom you’re getting. We recommend you stay away from these 10 cabins on a cruise ship. Related: How to make the most of interior cabins on a cruise: https://cruisefever.net/how-to-make-the-most-of-inside-cabins-on-cruises/ 1.Cabins directly above or below clubs and lounges. Unless you plan on heading to your cabin after 1 a.m. each night for sleep, you should try to avoid cabins that are directly over or below the ship’s clubs and bars. The bass of the subwoofers in the clubs can easily be heard in these staterooms. 2. Cabins above the theater. Unfortunately, the cabin walls on cruise ships are not sound proof. While they do block a fair amount of noise, you will still be able to hear music in the staterooms directly above the theater. If shows are over by 11pm this may not be much of an issue. 3. Cabins directly below the pool deck. Each morning, staff members will begin to rearrange and organize the pool deck loungers getting the lido deck ready for the day. While some crew members will lift and move the loungers, many will drag them across the lido deck floor waking up passengers who are sleeping directly below. See unique cabins found on Carnival cruise ships: https://cruisefever.net/unique-cabins-found-on-carnival-cruise-ships/ 4. Obstructed view cabins. Not everyone loves the idea of having a bright orange lifeboat as their view outside their ocean view cabin. While I still think that’s better than having no view at all, it’s something to keep in mind when booking a stateroom. 5. Adjoining Cabins. Adjoining cabins are great for larger families as many staterooms only hold a maximum of 4-5 passengers. However, due to the extra door between the cabins, you can often hear conversations from louder neighbors in the adjoining cabin next to you. The door is not as soundproof as the walls. 6. Cabins with little privacy. Remember that some balcony cabins face inward and so will have views of a promenade or passengers right across the way. While curtains are there for a reason, there’s little point in having a balcony if you don’t use it. Just remember that privacy will not be a premium in these cabins. 7. Balcony cabins directly below public areas. On some ships there are balconies that are perfectly visible from the pool deck or other public areas as they jut out from the ship slightly. So, if you are enjoying your balcony on a beautiful day you may turn around and look up to see another passenger. This can be an awkward moment. This goes along with the lack of privacy, but not everyone may mind this. 8. Cabins prone to motion. I personally don’t mind cabins in the very front or back of the ship, (in fact I prefer that wonderful aft view) but for those who are worried about motion sickness, you might want to choose a cabin somewhere in the middle, where a rocking ship isn’t as noticeable. 9. Cabins near the anchor. Early birds won’t be affected by this one, but for those who want to sleep-in, steer clear of cabins near the anchor. You will hear quite the clanging noise when the ship is dropping anchor at port. 10. Cabins on the lower decks. Yes, these cabins are often the cheapest on the ship, but they more affordable for a reason. Cabins on deck 1 or 2 are further away from all the activities on the ship and elevators are often crowded. On the plus side, you will save money and can get a great work out if you plan on taking the stairs. Hope this list helps you plan your next cruise cabin location. Be sure to study those deck plans before reserving your stateroom. Are there certain cabins you try to avoid? Any stateroom nightmares you care to share? Let us know in the comments below…

If You Ever See This on the Beach, Cry for Help!
How do you recognize something that you can touch and something you have to run away from as fast as possible? Here is a list of the most dangerous sea creatures you can meet and how to recognize them! There are so many different species living in the ocean! Some of them are beautiful, some are deadly, and some are both. TIMESTAMPS Fire Coral 0:40 Flower Urchin 1:20 Cone Snail 1:50 Portuguese Man-of-War 2:32 Snea snakes 3:54 Lionfish 4:51 Chironex 5:39 Surgeonfish 6:15 Indonesian needlefish 6:59 Triggerfish 7:34 SUMMARY - Fire Coral. These small organisms can sting, and the effect can be not very serious and it can be quite bad. A stung person may have severe pains, feel nauseated and even vomit, which is not the best thing to do when you are underwater. - Flower Urchin is both very beautiful and very deadly. It contains toxins that can cause anaphylactic shock, convulsions and finally death. You can get poisoned if you step on it when you are in the sea or the ocean. - Scientists say that just one drop of the cone snail’s poison is enough to kill 20 people! Just one drop! - The most mind-blowing fact about Man-of-War is that technically we should call it Men-of-War, and refer to it not as «it», but «they», and here is why: it’s an animal that is made up of a colony of organisms cooperating together. Man-of-war has tentacles that can be 30 feet long, which it uses to paralyze and kill fish and other small creatures. - Sea snakes are much more venomous than their land-living friends. As it turns out, they have to be like that because they hunt fish, so what they need to do is immobilize their prey very quickly not to let it escape. - Many people call the lionfish the most beautiful sea creature in the world. You can find them in the Caribbean and Eastern Atlantic. Lionfishes are not deadly — they do have a venom, but it’s not lethal. However, the pain you will experience if you get stung is so severe that people say you might wish you were dead. - Chironex doesn’t have any teeth, but it’s dangerous as hell. If a person gets stung, they will have excruciating pain, red inflammation in the stung area and heart dysfunction. - Surgeonfish are easily spooked, so you should be extra careful if you see one of them. Don’t make any unexpected fast moves. The good news is, surgeonfish are not aggressive unless, of course, you provoke them. - Indonesian needlefish live in tropical and subtropical waters of the oceans. They, as the name suggests, have a very sharp, needle-like beak, and they are especially dangerous when they hurl themselves out of the water. - Triggerfish is mostly friendly, but only until you are a threat to its nest. The most dangerous are females — if you approach its nest even accidentally, it will bite you. Thankfully, the bites aren’t poisonous, but triggerfish have extremely sharp teeth, so the injuries it can cause need serious medical attention.
