Lots of people on certain parts of continents don’t have access to fresh water from rivers or lakes, and this crisis is getting more and more serious each year. Every 7th person on the planet suffers from a lack of access to clean drinkable water right now. And some experts say that as the world population doubles by 2030, that statistic will skyrocket to one-half! Actually, 97% of all the water on the planet has always been briny, and you can safely assume that it’s this way for a reason. …So magically pushing a button to make it fresh water in this hypothetical situation would be devastating for life on this planet. And here's why. You’d think these sources would dilute the sea and decrease the salt content. But in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Water in rivers is also brackish – it’s just 70 times less salty than in the ocean. - Each year 4 billion tons of salt are carried into the ocean just from rivers alone. If you keep doing that for the billions of years this planet has been in existence, you can imagine how much salt would gather there. - Sea salt derives from a hydrochloric acid, while river salts are from carbonic acid. More scientists today believe that the oceans have been salty from the start because of volcanic activity. - The most obvious consequence is that the innumerable forms of marine life can only exist in briny water – they wouldn’t survive in fresh water. - Without them, we’d lose this source of food, which would have a serious impact on not only the countries that are highly dependent on their fishery sectors, but also those they export to! - Like animals, algae are capable of feeding on organic material in their environment. Like plants, they take part in photosynthesis. They play a huge role in sustaining life because of this. - Ocean currents make the climate on earth a lot more tolerable and suitable for living. Take salt from the oceans, and the currents will disappear. Salt water has a much lower freezing temperature too. Without the salt, bigger parts of the oceans would turn to ice during the winter. - Plus, all that salt would eventually start appearing right back in the oceans! Minerals from the Earth’s crust would start dissolving into the sea again, and oceanic floor vents would also pump minerals into the water. Several natural processes make ocean water salty. For example, when it rains, the water droplets react with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and form carbonic acid, making rainwater slightly acidic. This acidic rainwater reacts with minerals present in the rocks and forms new minerals and salts. This acidic rainwater reacts with minerals present in the rocks and form new minerals and salts. These minerals and salts are then carried by flowing water to the oceans, thus making the ocean water salty. In addition to this, along the mid-ocean ridges, magma rises close to the oceanic crust. Here, when the salty ocean water seeps into the earth's crust, it gets hot due to magma. This hot water dissolves more minerals present in the crust and carries them to the oceans through fissures called hydrothermal vents, thus making the ocean water salty. "I was very surprised when we first went into this that no one was making salt in New York, and very few on the East Coast; but, as we've become more involved in the business, I think there are very few people who are crazy enough to start a project like this." Meet Steven and Natalie Judelson, sea-salt fanatics and husband & wife team behind Amagansett Sea Salt Co. in Long Island, NY. The Judelsons' love of salts came naturally: they've always preferred savory over sweet, a preference that got them addicted to tasting and collecting all-natural sea salts over 20 years ago. What they learned is that real salts, salts not heavily processed in factories, don't all taste the same. They have their own unique "terroir" - nuanced flavors that give a product a special sense of place. So, given their fascination and proximity to the ocean, they started making their own sea salt, for fun, out of their beach home in Amagansett. Over the past ten years, Steven has slowly perfected his homemade sea salt harvesting and "farming operation", to the point where in 2009, they took "a leap of faith" and decided to share their passion with others. Enjoy Steven and Natalie's story! I think you'll be surprised how much work and beauty goes into salting up your food. Thanks for watching food. curated.! Happy eating! Pink Himalayan salt is a relatively new type of rock salt alternative to table salt varieties, gaining only recent popularity in the last decade or so. Sometimes called "pink salt", "crystal salt" or Himalayan sea salt, it is made from ancient salt deposits that have been preserved within the earth for millions of years. Most brands originate from the foothill regions of northern Pakistan, an area along the Salt Range where deep sedimentary salts are located. Considered one of the purest forms of salt available, unexposed to environment pollutants, it is commonly used today as a finely ground salt, but larger crystals or coarse pebbles can also be used as a salt water solution or "sole." This video is not a tutorial. How do I get started in soapmaking? I would recommend starting by arming yourself with knowledge. Educate and then experiment. Be sure to follow all proper safety precautions. A great starting place is the beginner cold process soapmaking series by SoapQueenTV here on YouTube. You can then purchase all the supplies you need at Bramble Berry. Lovin Soap Studio also has a beginner series on YouTube. Why don't you share your cold process soap recipe? Our recipe is proprietary. We can't give away all our secrets now can we? :-) I did share a test recipe on our four Bramble Berry Seascape Collection Series videos. Where do you buy your oils? We purchase our oils in bulk at Soapers Choice, Jedwards International, or Bramble Berry. Where did you buy your molds? My husband builds all my wood molds. My silicone molds are from various suppliers. Where did you buy your soap planer? My husband built the soap planer for me. Where did you buy your soap cutter? We purchased our soap cutter at Bud’s Woodshop. Where did you buy your soap loaf splitter? Our loaf splitter was purchased from Smith Creek Studio. Where do you buy your soaping containers? My pitchers are from School Masters and my large plastic containers are from Webstaurant Store. Where do you buy your fragrance oils? We purchase our oils from many different suppliers. We don’t have a one-stop-shop for all of our oils. We blend the majority of the fragrances we work with. Where do you buy your colors? We buy our colors at Bramble Berry and Nurture Soap. Where do you buy your coconut milk? I was buying So Delicious Organic Coconut Milk on Amazon but I think you all bought them out! Ha! I now buy Native Forest Organic Coconut Milk. Please don't buy them out. I need coconut milk. lol Where do you buy your packaging materials? We buy our packaging materials at various suppliers including Paper Mart, ULine, Nashville Wraps, and Amazon. Why don’t you always provide exact links for supplies? I think providing where I purchased something is good enough. I encourage you to research. We have the internet at our finger tips…use it! Maybe that’s the mom in me, encouraging you to be self-sufficient. Plus, links change and then the information is no longer valid. Do you give classes? No, I do not offer classes. However, if you need help, leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do. Can I stop by and meet you? Well...I consider myself a really nice person, but I am an introvert, and meeting strangers (even soapmakers) is way out of my comfort zone. I think you're awesome...I just am not that type of person.

Get Men's Sea Salt Spray: http://bdbd.us/2btgTOP ABOUT BEARDBRAND Beardbrand is a men’s grooming company that focuses on beard care. We are changing the way to society views beardsmen by shifting beards to a more neutral to positive connotation. We post new videos every Thursday and would love your subscription. Beard on! Sometimes you want to look like you've been hanging out on the beach all day and have that dry gritty hair from swimming in the ocean. I like to call this the beach bum hair style, sea salt hair, or wavy hair. It's a pretty easy process to get this look. All you'll need is a hair dryer, sea salt, and some styling product. For this I'm using Hanz de Fuko Quicksand which gives a very gritty beach like texture. I like to apply the products to the hair while it's still wet then use the scrunching technique and a hair dryer with a diffuser to get the wavy look. I personally like using a high end hair dryer because it will be able to dry my hair quicker with less heat. Nestled between Jordan, Israel, and Palestine, the Dead Sea is a salt-lake more than 15 million years old. Among the planet’s saltiest bodies of water, the Dead Sea has a salinity of 34.2% – it’s ten times as salty as the ocean. Its salinity creates a harsh environment for flora and fauna, earning the name Dead Sea since precious few microorganisms can survive within it. Check out this 5 amazing things dead sea salt can do 1.Dead Sea Salt is Deeply Hydrating Bathing in a solution of 5% Dead Sea salt improves skin hydration, reduces redness and roughness, and enhances the skin barrier, according to a study published in 2005. Sufferers of atopic dry skin submerged one arm in seawater and the other arm in plain tap water for 15 just minutes. While the salt treated arm showed significant improvements in all areas, the tap water arm showed evidence of further transepidermal water loss. The anti-inflammatory and skin hydrating effects of Dead Sea salt are due to its high magnesium content. Magnesium salts bind to water, which in turn boosts skin absorption and permeability. 2. Dead Sea Salt Cleanses and Disinfects Thanks to sulfur’s natural antibacterial properties, Dead Sea salt is wonderful for cleaning the surface of the skin. Because Dead Sea salt contains only small amounts of sulfur salts, it offers a gentle way to reduce oily skin and clear away acne. 3. It is an Excellent Exfoliator Another way Dead Sea salt helps cleanse the skin is its ability to slough off dead skin cells that can contribute to skin roughness, clogged pores, and blemishes. To make a scrub, combine ½ cup of finely ground Dead Sea salt with ¼ cup of coconut oil. 4. Dead Sea Salt Promotes Youthful Skin In evaluating the effects of Dead Sea salt on aging skin, researchers found that it reduces skin roughness that contributes to fine lines and deep wrinkles. Compared with placebo, a commercially prepared anti-wrinkle gel, and a 1% Dead Sea salt solution, these ointments were applied twice daily for four weeks. While the placebo and anti-wrinkle gel reduced skin roughness by 10% and 27% respectively, the Dead Sea salt treatment was superior in smoothing skin, reducing deep wrinkling by an average of more than 40%. 5.Dead Sea Salt Calms Rheumatoid Arthritis Marked by painful swelling of the joints, rheumatoid arthritis may over time lead to bone erosion and deformity. Though there is no cure, Dead Sea salt therapy has proven to be an effective treatment for many of the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. In the study, patients bathed in Dead Sea salt daily for 20 minutes for two weeks. Evaluated by rheumatologists and their own self-assessments, patients showed significant improvements in morning stiffness, 15 meter walk time, hand-grip strength, circumference of joints, the number of active joints, and the activities of daily living.

MALAYSIA — Karmic justice comes swift with Mother Nature, as plastic waste we’ve been throwing in the ocean is now coming back to us, literally, via the food we eat. Microplastic particles typically flow into the ocean, since they're often too small to be filtered out by sewage treatment plants. The tiny pieces of plastic are mistaken for food and ingested by fish and other sea creatures. Seafood meant for human consumption often contain these particles. And new study published in Scientific Reports now shows that salt may also be a vehicle for plastic contamination. Researchers studied 16 brands of sea salt extracted from eight different countries: Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, Iran, South Africa, France, and Portugal. After dissolving and filtering the salts in their lab at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, they found that nearly all were contaminated with foreign particles, with the exception of the one from France. All in all, 72 particles were found in the sea salts. Thirty of these were microplastics, seventeen were pigments that may have once been plastic, and four were dust particles. Twenty-one could not be chemically identified. Scientists say the current concentration of plastic is low, and won’t affect human health. But if plastic pollution continues, those levels may increase and potentially become detrimental to our well-being. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Crying dog breaks the internet’s heart — but this sad dog story has a happy ending" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4prKTN9bYQc -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Hi everyone! In this video I share a recipe and demonstrate how we make Pink Watermelon Sea Salt Soaps using the cold process soapmaking method. Sea Salt Soaps are considered a luxurious spa-type soap bar. A high percentage of coconut oil is used because coconut oil can lather even with the presence of sea salt. We counteract the drying affects of the coconut oil by using a 20% superfat. Sea Salt Soap has a dense thick lather. Sea Salt is said to remove toxins from the skin and people have found sea salt soaps to be helpful with acne. Please note that we do not make any medical or health claims. Our purpose for this soap is for cleansing only. *****SHOP OUR PRODUCTS***** www.moriversoap.com *****SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS***** *Instagram: http://instagram.com/moriversoap/ *Facebook Page – make sure to select to ‘get notifications’: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Missou... *Twitter: https://twitter.com/MORiverSoap **Cautions & Disclaimers** Cold Process Soapmaking requires the use of a caustic material called Sodium Hydroxide. This must be respected and handled with care. It is your responsibility to research, know, and adhere to all safety measures for making cold process soap. Please note that while any soapmaker can use the same materials to create the same soap, each soapmaker has a personal touch and skill base that may cause varied results. Always recheck a recipe using a soapmaking lye calculator. Never just trust a recipe, a video, or an tutorial without doing some research to know that everything is correct. Never, ever add water to sodium hydroxide. Sodium hydroxide must always be added to the water. While we all can do our best to share with you and provide tutorials, you are responsible for you, your materials, and your actions. Missouri River Soap LLC is not responsible for injuries, accidents, or performance due to sharing this recipe and demonstrating this process. **Beginner Soapmakers LOOK HERE** If you have never made soap before, it is important that you research and arm yourself with knowledge before you ever attempt making soap. Here are two learning series that we recommend you watch to start your journey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR6ttCSrLJI&list=PLAADF6209996265D2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=47ZbYvg7bvs&list=PLg93blR6U5bRqzmr02nin77tJYTSD64z4 **Alternate Sea Salt Soap Bar Information** http://www.lovinsoap.com/2015/09/how-to-formulate-soap-salt-bars/ http://www.lovinsoap.com/2017/07/rose-quartz-salt-bar-cold-process-soap-sea-salt-with-video/ **Recipe Information** Run all recipes through a soapmaking lye calculator before using! See image of recipe/lye calculator in video for more information: 48 oz coconut oil - 80% 6 oz castor oil - 10% 3 oz cocoa butter - 5% 3 oz shea butter -5% 30% Lye Concentration 20% Superfat Liquid amount came to 19.35 oz of distilled water. We took away 4 oz of the liquid so we could add 4 oz organic coconut milk. The remaining 15.35 oz of distilled water was used to create the lye solution. We used 8.29 oz of food grade sodium hydroxide. (Always add the sodium hydroxide/lye to the water for safety reasons.) 2 tsp white kaolin clay 3 oz fragrance (5% of oil weight only/0.8 oz ppo) 36 oz Sea Salt (just over 50% of the oil weight) Allow soap to rest/gel for 20-24 hours. Cold process soap requires a four to eight week cure time. Eight weeks is best for sea salt soap. **Supplier List** Gloves: https://www.samsclub.com/sams/mm-glove-large-2x200ct/prod18150526.ip?xid=plp_product_1_2 Safety Goggles: https://www.lowes.com/pd/3M-Gasket-Safety-Glasses-Safety-Glasses/1000040215 Apron: https://joyfulpine.com/products/copy-of-happiness-is-handmade-apron?variant=644629233677 Soapmaking Oils - Coconut, Castor, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter: https://soaperschoice.com/ Sodium Hydroxide: http://www.essentialdepot.com/category/soap-sodium-hydroxide.html Organic Coconut Milk: https://www.amazon.com/Native-Forest-Organic-Unsweetened-Coconut/dp/B011LVDECM/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1529600826&sr=8-4&keywords=native+forest+organic+simple+coconut+milk Sea Salt: https://www.samsclub.com/sams/tone-s-sea-salt-36-oz/162993.ip?xid=plp_product_1_1 Pink Watermelon Fragrance: https://www.naturesgardencandles.com/pink-watermelon-fragrance-oil Micas - Jade Green, Lime Appeal, Pink Vibrance, Rose Pink: https://nurturesoap.com/collections/soap-stable-micas White Kaolin Clay: http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/white-kaolin-clay.aspx Divider Mold: https://www.brambleberry.com/18-Bar-Unfinished-Birchwood-Mold-P5168.aspx Plastic Pitchers: http://schoolmasters.com/science/plastic-pitchers-set-of-5.html Clear Container: https://www.webstaurantstore.com/search/food-storage-container.html Scale: https://www.oldwillknottscales.com/my-weigh-kd8000.html

Hey Lovelies! I hope you all have enjoyed your winter break and the holidays! Sorry I have been away, my break was pretty hectic and busy with family. However, I am back with another tutorial for you guys!! Today, I decided to make my sea salt face mask for whenever I have acne breakouts. I tend to use this exfoliating face mask 2 times a week whenever I have bad breakouts. So pretty much around that time of the month or when I have been eating poorly (this entire winter break). This one way for how to get clear skin for me! Acne is different for everyone. You may get small breakouts (which is still considered acne), cystic acne, nodulocystic acne, mild acne, severe acne, you name it. So many thing can contribute to acne such as hormones, diet, hygiene and more. I always see great results with this mask because of the ingredients I throw into it. I've mentioned before that it is important to exfoliate at least a couple times a week to remove any build up of dead skin that sits on the surface of your skin. It rejuvenates your skin and also helps with prevent acne and breakouts, as well as with the aging process. I hope this exfoliation sea salt face scrub works wonders for you the way it works well for me. Check out the ingredient list down below. IINGREDIENTS: -2 Tbsp Sea salt -1 Tsp Safflower oil -1 Tsp Sweet Almond oil -1/2 Tbsp Honey -1/2 Lime (squeeze the juice) BENEFITS: Sea Salt: - deeply cleans pores - fights off any bacteria that causes breakouts/acne - balances oils Sweet Almond & Safflower oil: - moisturizer -helps with anti-aging Honey: - moisturizer and soothes skin - helps with anti-aging - helps fight acne Limes: - antibacterial, antibiotic, disinfectant - rejuvenates skin - protects against infection *OTHER VIDEOS* OILS FOR THE FACE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s2WHEMa_FE OILS FOR ACNE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SUIFfpxRt8 MY NIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7a7rky3llE&t=93s TURMERIC FACE MASK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7jZCHWfab0&t=48s ***GET DISCOUNTED OILS at iHerb.com (coupon code YOD921 for first time buyers)*** LET'S KEEP IN TOUCH XO INSTAGRAM: @OFFICIALLY.JAZ PINTEREST: @JASMINREMEDIES REMEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE AND THUMBS UP!! This video is not a tutorial. Why don’t you provide exact links for supplies? I think providing where I purchased something is good enough. I encourage you to research. We have the internet at our finger tips…use it! Maybe that’s the mom in me, encouraging you to be self-sufficient. Plus, links change and then the information is no longer valid. Do you give classes? No, I do not offer classes. However, if you need help, leave me a comment and I’ll see what I can do. Can I stop by and meet you? Well...I consider myself a really nice person, but I am an introvert, and meeting strangers (even soapmakers) is way out of my comfort zone. I think you're awesome...I just am not that type of person.

This homemade salt scrub is a take on the lush ocean salt cleanser which is a really awesome product! I have experimented with this recipe a little bit to get a DIY scrub that can be used for the body and face and has many of the beneficial properties of the original product. The cool thing about this scrub / cleanser is that it is completely natural, it's cruelty free and it's also really cheap when considering the life usage of the raw ingredients. Always keep in mind that these recipes are things I have tried out and enjoyed and therefore shared in the hopes they will as enjoyable for you. I am not trying to be a professional or claim to know it all (and anything I don't know i would love to hear about! But approach your comments as advice, not hate!!). Things work differently for different people, and there are always ways that things can be done better - so share the love and we can all help each other create an awesome life X The natural blue colouring is made from red cabbage, water and baking soda. It is not a necessary ingredient, it just makes it look 'nicer'. It doesn't stain the skin like conventional colourings which is great for this purpose. Adding it does make its shelf-life less secure though, so only add a little and make sure to you use clean fingers. Homemade ocean salt cleanser recipe: - 1/4 cup red cabbage - pinch baking soda - 1/4 cup hot water - 2 Tbsp each of fine & coarse sea salt - 1 lime finely zest - 20 drops tangerine oil - 2 Tbsp avocado oil - 2 Tbsp coconut oil - 1/2 tsp wax - optional: 2 Tbsp vegetable glycerine original lush ocean salt scrub "Coconut cream and sea salt scrub" ingredients: http://www.lushusa.com/Ocean-Salt/02128,en_US,pd.html I hope you enjoyed this video ♡ If you want to find my elsewhere here are some of my details: facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ela-Gale/567741150027455 twitter https://twitter.com/ElaGale Instagram @elagale some FAQ: how old are you? : 22 Where do you live? : New Zealand What do you film with: Canon 60d & canon s120 What do you edit on: FCPX What do you study: Masters in Communication of Science and filmmaking What do you love most in life: bruce -my chihuahua, my family & bf, animals, sunshine, FOOD, nature, compassion... Steve Cook, owner of Maine Sea Salt discusses his philosophy of life while being an organic salt harvester. Steve's love and passion goes into every bottle of S.W. Basics Exfoliant. Shop S.W. Basics Exfoliant and other products here: http://www.loveyouinc.com/collections/s-w-basics S.W. Basics recently did a feature video of Steve Cook, owner of Maine Sea Salt. In it, Steve talks about the life and philosophy of being a simple organic salt harvester. Steve's hard work and love goes into every jar of S.W. Basics Exfoliant. Here are excerpts from that video: Steve: "I love the sea, I love looking out over the ocean. I love seeing the horizon. I just have it in my blood. I could never go anywhere where there wasn't an ocean nearby. It's all interaction with the rest of the world and this community and the whole community in this country. There is very little in this world that is new, brand new. It all comes from something that learned in the past. I make it because it's a natural extension of myself. The way we make our sea salt has got to be part of nature, part of our own body and soul. Maine sea salt is all natural, just the wind blowing through the greenhouses next to the ocean. And to have it locally produced by your own hands, you just have a natural appreciation for something that is really close to home and in your heart. We've become a mechanized, industrial people. We kind of remind people that it's the beginning, the way things used to be; simple. And that's what people are looking for and seeking out, their roots. The ocean contains sea salt, and the minerals are the same in percentage that you'll find in your own human body. It's an extension of ourselves, we don't have any machines, we don't have any fossil fuels, we don't need fossil fuels. People who are working for a business are a part of that business. They are as much of an owner and contributor as the guy at the top taking the money to the bank. Success comes from inside, comes from who you are. That's what we have to seek out, we have to find it. No matter what anyone is doing, it has to come from inside. Sea salt is something that I do, have been doing it for a long time and I will do it for the rest of my life." Steve Cook, Maine Sea Salt. Shop S.W.
