Map Shows World Following 260-Foot Sea Level Rise

01:12
Designer Martin Varjic has drawn a map that shows what the world will look like if all of the polar ice melts and the sea level swells 260 feet. Environmentalists often talk about the dire effects of melting polar caps and rising sea levels, but the projected consequences can at times seem a bit abstract. As a means of making the situation more concrete, graphic designer Martin Vargic has drawn a vision of the future using the long-established techniques of cartography. His map shows what the world will look like if all of the polar ice melts and the sea level swells 260 feet. Instantly noticeable is that the continents shrink quite a bit. Closer examination shows that along with the disappearance current coastlines, major urban areas will end up under water as well. London, New Orleans, Berlin and Amsterdam will be no more. Parts of Brazil will also be lost, along with chunks of Miami, and Washington D.C. Said Vargic his rendering is an attempt to bring "traditional cartography to a contemporary setting, while reminding us about the dangers of global warming and subsequent climate change." How likely is it that his vision will come to pass? According to National Geographic, if everything continues as it is today, very. In time, modern conditions could cause the average temperature on the planet to increase from 58 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Plato's Story of Atlantis In 360 BC, the famous Greek philosopher Plato wrote about a battle between his city Athens and a great empire named Atlantis. He described this war, which ended when Atlantis disappeared in the ocean due to "violent earthquakes and floods," in two of his books: "Timaeus" and "Critias" (https://sites.google.com/site/11000vchr/plato-s-kritias). According to Plato, all this happened 9,000 years before his time which would be at least 9,400 BC, some 12,400 years ago. Intriguingly, this also corresponds to the period when the geological age of the Younger Dryas suddenly ended with an abrupt warming of more than 10°C in only a few years. This event marked the beginning of the Holocene, the era in which we are still living today. Sea levels must have risen rapidly and dramatically, and as a result entire civilizations, if any existed, would have disappeared under water. It's still unclear what caused the extreme climate change that ended the Younger Dryas around 9,700 BC, although some evidence seems to point to solar activity. Whether Atlantis really existed is hard to say. In that time, sealevels were at least 80 to 100 meters lower than today. Therefore, if there were any archeological evidence, one would have to look deep in the bottom of the sea, but nothing has been found sofar. Plato's main concern was probably with illustrating his political views rather than being historically accurate. He was very much opposed to Athen's new democracy and held the opinion that it would inevitably lead to dictatorship and tyranny. Indeed, Atlantis owed its greatness, according to Plato, to the oligarchy that happened to govern the city-empire exactly the way he propagated in his work “The Republic.” Moreover, only the first 20 pages of Plato's narrative have been preserved. It remains remarkable though, how Plato's story reflects climatic events and other facts of which he could not have had any direct knowledge. For instance, he explains how in ancient times, the higher and less fertile areas were inhabited by primitive pastoral peoples, while the more advanced civilizations lived in the coastal regions, which is why they could escape the catastrophic rise in sea levels that struck the coastal regions and destroyed everything that lived there. Plato tells us that only the Egyptian culture was saved from this due to its special location further inland in the Nile valley. Other intriguing issues, such as the frequent use of “orichalcum” in Atlantis, are mentioned in the “Critias” as well. This mysterious metal is very reminiscent of tumbaga, an alloy of gold and copper in varying proportions which was much used by the Inca and other peoples in the New World. This, however, became known only 2,000 years later after Columbus discovered America. Plato wasn't the first to mention Atlantis as it is often believed. In Herodotus' time, the sea outside Gibraltar was on occasion called the Atlantis Sea. In the Great Hall of the temple of Ramses at Karnak a column shows a depiction of a great festival, along with an accompanying text memorializing “the loss of a drowned continent in the Western Ocean.” Plato described Atlantis as being ruled by ten kings and Egyptian king-lists going back thousands of years before Plato also talk of ten god-kings called “Atlanteans.” The Sanskrit writings of ancient India contain several descriptions of Atlantis, and even assert that Atlantis was destroyed as the result of a war between the gods and Asuras (giant and sometimes demonic creatures). The Vishnu Purana, one of the oldest of the Hindu Puranas, speaks of "Atala, the White Island," one of the seven islands belonging to Patala. The Mahabharata also refers to "Atala, the White Island," which is described as an "island of great splendour." Megalithic structures like the Sphynx in Egypt, Göbekli Tepe in Turkey and maybe even Yonaguni in Japan that were build more than 10.000 years ago, point to the existence of advanced cultures in ancient times. But wether Atlantis is more than just a myth, and where it was located, remains a mystery. (2014) Created in 2002 by Graham Hancock. KELLY KNEE / JAMIE CARTER

Kelly Knee, Director of Coastal hazards Services, RPS ASA Jamie Carter, Remote Sensing Analyst, The Baldwin Group, NOAA Coastal Services Center PRESENTATION TITLE: New Mapping Tool and Techniques for Visualizing Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts ABSTRACT: It is one thing to have a discussion or write about a one or two foot rise in the ocean surface and potential impacts to a local community; it is another to show someone a map highlighting the areas that could be permanently lost or use the increased base water level to model how storm tide elevations may be impacted by climate change. The ability to visualize the potential depth and inland extent of water gives us a better understanding of the corresponding impacts and consequences. Mapping sea level changes in a geographic information system (GIS) gives the user the ability to overlay the potentially impacted areas with other data such as critical infrastructure, roads, ecologically sensitive areas, demographics, and economics. Providing maps on the Web via Internet mapping technologies enables the user to have an interactive experience that truly brings out the "visual" part of the map definition. Over the past several years, the Coastal Services Center developed new techniques to map sea level rise and coastal flooding impacts using high-resolution lidar-based elevation data. A map viewer displays flooding impacts on local public infrastructure, mapping confidence, flooding frequency, marsh impacts, and social and economic impacts from potential inundation. The first half of this presentation will provide an overview of NOAA's Sea Level Rise and Coastal Flooding Impacts Viewer and look at local applications of the data, and mechanisms for obtaining the data. The second half of the presentation will focus on how NOAA's Sea, Lake and Overland Surges from Hurricanes (SLOSH) model can be used to incorporate sea level rise into predictions of future storm tides. Model inputs including hurricane parameters, model grid, and water level will be described. There are pros and cons to using any model to predict storm surge. In the case of SLOSH, the model is computationally efficient and requires readily available, assumed, or parameterized inputs allowing it to be used operationally by the National Hurricane Center and making it a useful tool for ensemble modeling and screening level studies of potential storm surge impacts. However, the model does not include tides, waves, precipitation, or river flow. To this end, the use of SLOSH in place of a more advanced numerical model such as ADCIRC or FVCOM will be discussed and the results of a climate change vulnerability study that used SLOSH will be presented.

NASA | A Year in the Life of Earth's CO2

03:11
An ultra-high-resolution NASA computer model has given scientists a stunning new look at how carbon dioxide in the atmosphere travels around the globe. Plumes of carbon dioxide in the simulation swirl and shift as winds disperse the greenhouse gas away from its sources. The simulation also illustrates differences in carbon dioxide levels in the northern and southern hemispheres and distinct swings in global carbon dioxide concentrations as the growth cycle of plants and trees changes with the seasons. The carbon dioxide visualization was produced by a computer model called GEOS-5, created by scientists at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Global Modeling and Assimilation Office. The visualization is a product of a simulation called a “Nature Run.” The Nature Run ingests real data on atmospheric conditions and the emission of greenhouse gases and both natural and man-made particulates. The model is then left to run on its own and simulate the natural behavior of the Earth’s atmosphere. This Nature Run simulates January 2006 through December 2006. While Goddard scientists worked with a “beta” version of the Nature Run internally for several years, they released this updated, improved version to the scientific community for the first time in the fall of 2014. Perched on an island at the very edge of Alaska, Shishmaref has become a symbol of global warming. For the past ten years, this village has been collapsing. With the melting of the ice caps, water levels are rising, and gradually the sea is eating away at the coast. It's a nightmare for 600 Eskimos who live here. If nothing is done, Shishmaref could soon be wiped off the map, and its 4,000-year-old Inuit culture could disappear. Watch the interactive production ►http://f24.my/1kNuePQ

2014 10 23 12 04 POET Webinar Modeling Sea Level Rise Impacts on Storm Surges Along the West Coast

36:38
This webinar was originally delivered on October 23, 2014. Sound policies for protecting coastal environments and infrastructure require good information about vulnerability to flooding. Together with colleagues at Climate Central and NOAA, we investigated the influence of sea level rise on expected storm surge-driven water levels and their frequencies along the contiguous United States. This work was published in 2012. Climate Central provides an interactive tool to explore its significance. Dr. Caludia Tebaldi explains the modeling effort, which is based on observed historical water levels at tide gauges along the US coasts, which we use to derive statistics of extremes and local trends in sea level, and future projections of sea level rise. The main finding of our study is that because of sea level rise alone, substantial changes in the frequency of what are now considered extreme water levels may occur even at locations with relatively slow local sea level rise, like the West coast of the United States. By mid-century, some sites will see hundred-year events become ‘decadal’ (i.e., events that now have a 1% chance of occurring in any year will have a chance of 10% annually by 2050), and some sites will see even higher frequency of previously rare storm-driven water heights. Our research provides historic information and projections for a set of continental U.S. tidal gauges along the Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific coasts. During the webinar I will try to emphasize local impacts at gauges along the latter.

The St. Louis Science Center’s recent exhibition “Climate Change” examined one of the most urgent scientific and social issues of the 21st century. Through interactive stations and dioramas that interpret the latest research, the exhibit presented evidence that human activity over the last 300 years has dramatically altered the natural world. In this program students will see parts of the exhibition as they learn from both the exhibit curator and climate change scientist William Dannevik, PhD, Professor of Meteorology and Department Chair, Saint Louis University. Activities during the program highlight three areas of this important topic: 1. Carbon Footprint—In advance of the program students will be asked to do some home investigation about their family’s carbon footprint and bring that data to the program. We’ll ask students to share that data and use it in activities as we explore how our carbon footprint impacts the climate. 2. Rising Sea Levels—We’ll explore how rising sea levels will affect both humans and animals by looking at two specific examples: the island of Manhattan and polar bears in the Arctic. 3. Alternative Energy Sources—The “Climate Change” exhibition explores a number of alternative energy sources. Students participating will be able to determine which one of the following areas they’ll explore in activities during their program: solar power, wind power, nuclear power, or geothermal power.

Episode 2 Symbols of an Alien Sky: The Lightning Scarred Planet, Mars (Full Documentary)

01:23:58
The EU2017 Conference: Future Science -- Aug 17 - 20, Phoenix: https://www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2017/01/22/eu2017-homepage-2/ Year by year the evidence for global electric scarring of Mars continues to grow. Bringing the facts to public attention will be among our highest priorities in coming months. Note: all of the Mars imagery involves actual maps from Google Mars. In Episode 2 Symbols of an Alien Sky: The Lightning Scarred Planet, Mars, David Talbott takes the viewer on an odyssey across the surface of Mars. Exploring feature after feature of the planet, he finds that only electric arcs could produce the observed patterns. The high resolution images reveal massive channels and gouges, great mounds, and crater chains, none finding an explanation in traditional geology but all matching the scars from electric discharge experiments in the laboratory. As a scientific follow-up to Symbols of an Alien Sky, this documentary provides a definitive answer to the question: was Mars carved from pole to pole by intense interplanetary discharge? Errata: The volume of Valles Marineris is estimated by the USGS (2002) to be .92 million cubic miles (3.86 million cubic kilometers). The player begins on the coast of the map equipped with only simple clothes and a flashlight, and must begin exploring the large 225 km2 landscape to investigate locations such as houses, barns, and apartments to scavenge supplies.[1][2][3] These supplies include food and water, which are basic keys to prolonging the players life.[4][5] Beyond the bare bones of survival, players can find various forms of clothing, which not only allows the player to customise their character, but can bring the benefit of extra storage space for supplies.[6] Also scattered around the map are a variety of weapons, allowing players to protect themselves from zombies or other players if necessary. Currently these are largely focused on a range of melee weapons, but a small number of firearms (more are to be implemented with future updates) are present, as well as various attachments such as bipods and telescopic sights. While travelling around the game players can also find various medical supplies, as the environment poses a range of threats to their character. This includes diseases such as cholera, dysentery and hepatitis, which can be caught by ingesting dirty water or rotten food and must be cured with the appropriate medicine.[7][8] If a player is shot or otherwise hurt, items on their person may be damaged.[9] The player may also start bleeding and must be bandaged quickly to minimise blood loss; excessive damage or blood loss will result in serious deterioration of vision for the player and can render them unconscious. The game also includes hundreds of public domain books throughout the map for players to read, including titles such as War of the Worlds and Moby-Dick.[10] Planned features include being able to build bases in the world in which players can keep their items safe, with the possibility of security systems and programmable computers having been considered.[11] The standalone game will build on the text and close range voice chat of the mod version by including a new whisper channel, which will allow players to communicate over a very short distance without players nearby hearing, as well as radios (based off the "ACRE" mod for ARMA 2), which will allow longer range communication, including the possibility of encrypted two-way radios and player run radio stations.[12][8][13] A number of features which are not currently available but will be added in a patch some time during the alpha have been confirmed including vehicles, more zombies, animals and hunting, and cooking.[14] Source: WikiPedia dayz, dayz standalone, dayz map, dayz gameplay, dayz game, dayz game review, dayz commentary, dayz zombie, dayz survival, dayz zombie game, zombie game, survival game,

These were a popular form of art at the turn of the 20th century depicting a city's key points of interest. Unlike traditional "maps", Panoramic maps often highlighted the commercial aspects of a town, while also clearly showing many local residences. I've had a lot fun looking up places I've been to on these maps -- and I've gotta say - It's amazing just how much things change -- and also how much things stay the same. Community Enterprise Approach in Daudkandi (Bangladesh) by Shisuk (NGO)

22:43
Shisuk, short for Shikha Shastha Unnayan Karzakram, stands for Education, Healty and Development Program is an NGO engaged with programmes in community fisheries, sustainable agriculture and (save) migration. Shisuk was incepted in 1994 and has been engaged in Daudkandi upazila since then. From 1994 to 1996 it initiated its ‘community enterprise approach’ for a community based flood plain fisheries project called Pankowri. It can be described as a ‘new approach to for sustainable development’. With this Shisuk intents to demonstrate management of resources: human, knowledge, land, water and capital in partnership with the community to facilitate self-reliant sustainable development and equitable sharing of benefits. Shisuk addresses sustainability through community approach involving the disadvantaged and influential class together in the process of socioeconomic development offering more interaction and participation of stakeholders to create an enabling environment for good governance, generation of innovative ideas, initiation of community actions to foster replication of good practices and influencing policy changes. In Daudkandi and adjacent areas there are now more than 90 fishery projects covering around 5000 ha. It all started with 350 families from six villages of the flood prone Eliotganj Union in Daudkandi under supervision of Shisuk. Before in some of the areas scattered efforts of fish culture in conventional manner were attempted. However these were isolated efforts because the flood plains are owned by many and uniting them needed a transparent supervision. Now 13% of floodplain area in Daudkandi upazila has been brought under aquaculture and during monsoons inundated arable land is used for fish farming. At the primary stage acquiring capital was crucial. Therefore Shisuk and 375 families raises a capital of 20 lakh BDT (ca. 2000€) on a partnership basis. The capital was raised by selling 2000 shares, each worth 1000 BDT. The owners of the 850ha flooded plains were given the opportunity to purchase shares on an equity basis. Therefore the maximum number of share to be purchased was limited to 20 shares or 1% of the total share. Shisuk and its development partner owns 15% of the total investment. Among other benefits these fishery projects offer now many different job opportunities for the local population and helped to establish a certain grade of wealth. An executive committee of the project oversees the participation of the rural population, and other activities such as capital formation and investment, cost management, income generation, dividend declaration, banking and share allocation. The committee members are selected on the basis of consensus of the project members. Such steps have contributed in embolding the confidence of the project members. Here mere profit is not the lone motivator behind this collective endeavor. The strive had always been for sustainable development. Thus activities that could contribute to environment pollution were avoided. A certain portion of the profit is invested on digging tube wells so that the easy availability of pure drinking water is ensured. Other philantrophic activities such as financing marriages of poor women, repairing temples and mosques were also undertaken. The social fishery projects have also contributed to the modernization of agricultural management. The organic fertilizer and fish feed is produced from locally available ingredients and has contributed in enhancing fertility of the arable land. Now additional fertilizer isn’t needed anymore for local agriculture. As flood plains need to be cleansed regularly, weeds are no more a hindrance for the local farmers. Besides the controlled water drainage system of the project has made agriculture possible without the use of tillers. It has made agriculture more cost effective. Maintaining steady water level water for fish culture has also increased wetness of the soil which enables the farmers to grow their crop even in periods of drought or in the dry seasons. Fish culture in the project areas have similtaneously lessened the agri-cost by 20% and enhanced production by 10-15%. The next step is to find a possibility to process the harvested fish in the area. www.shisuk.org

In this live demonstration given at Soul Space in Rochester Hills, Michigan on June 28, 2014, Micheila Sheldan channeled Gabriel who spoke on behalf of a collective consciousness. Gabriel's opening message was focused on how human beings are a critical part of a multi-dimensional consciousness that is healing our planet. He goes on to further explain that we are in a time of great transition which requires light workers to heal themselves individually in order to assist this shift. Gabriel describes the process of healing as unique to each soul's experience and identifies what is holding us back from this healing and what can be done to overcome lower vibrational interference. He also answers questions from the audience regarding what is currently happening in the Ukraine, how to break the chains of structured religious beliefs, how to most successfully meditate, how water quality affects the level of anger in our world today, what role kundalini plays in awakening and how to trust our intuition and fully step onto our soul's path. Finally, Gabriel gives advice to light workers as to how to evaluate conflicting messages, why the process of ascension can be painful and what can be done to ease the process. The channeled session ends with a brief closing message of gratitude from Mary. Micheila Sheldan is Executive Director of Flower of Life and a gifted intuitive channel. Shadow Warrior: Wanton Destruction - Level 3

08:58
Shadow Warrior: Wanton Destruction Level 3: Trolley Yard Shadow Warrior: Wanton Destruction is an expansion pack for Shadow Warrior created by Sunstorm Interactive and tested by 3D Realms, but was not released by the distributor. Charlie Wiederhold presented the four maps he created to 3D Realms, and was consequently hired as a level designer for Duke Nukem Forever. With permission, he released the maps on March 22, 2004. On September 5, 2005, Anthony Campiti - former president of Sunstorm Interactive - notified 3D Realms by e-mail that he found the Wanton Destruction add-on, and it was released for free on September 9, 2005.[17] The add-on chronicles Lo Wang's adventures after the original game. He visits his relatives in USA, but is forced to fight off Zilla's forces again. The game culminates with a battle against Master Zilla above the streets of Tokyo, which ends with Master Zilla's death. The game features 12 new levels, new artwork and a few new enemy replacements, such as human enemies; though they still act like their original counterparts.

Lightwave 3D - Huge Increase in OpenGL Performance Tip

13:35
Best viewed in 720p HD: I made this video to show how you can get a huge increase in OpenGL performance when you change your 3D profile from Base Profile to 3D App - Visual Simulation when using a Nvidia Quadro Card. I'm using the Newtek Lighwave 3D software for demonstration purposes. This may increase performance in other 3D software as well. The scene I'm using is part of the Lightwave content package. It was originally named Performance Mammoth.lws. I changed the scene to have only 60 instances instead of 100 because when using the base profile settings this scene is very unstable but not when I use the 3D App - Visual Simulation profile as you will see in the video. Please leave any comments and let me know if it increased your overall openGl performance especially when using a Nvidia Quadro GPU in Lightwave 3D. Thanks for watching

Assistant Director for Research, MIT Sea Grant PRESENTATION TITLE: Assessing Ways to Protect Shorelines Against Flooding and Erosion by New High-Fidelity Numerical Models ABSTRACT: About 3 billion people in the world live in coastal areas. Just in Europe each year up to 2.5 million people could be affected by coastal flooding (Nicholls, RJ, 2006), and about 20% of coastal wetlands could disappear by 2080 (Nicholls, RJ 2004). Coastal and near-shore marine ecosystems are vulnerable to a host of climate change-related effects including increasing air and water temperatures, ocean acidification, changes in runoff from the land, sea-level rise, and altered currents, increased storm intensity in some regions (U.S. Global Change Research Program - 2009 Report). The coastal areas are particularly vulnerable to the impact of global change, it is expected that these may entail, among other things, an increase in floods and extreme events and accelerated coastal erosion (Nicholls, RJ 2004). MIT Sea Grant is developing new multi-fidelity numerical simulation models for the prediction of wave flooding due to extreme events in a sensible coastal stretches of Massachusetts. By these simulation tools it will be possible to systematically and scientifically assess the efficacy of different types of innovative underwater protection structures to mitigate flooding risk and reduce beach erosion problems. We will present some examples of the new protection structures realized in successful beach restoration projects in the North Tyrrenum sea which were designed and optimized by the accurate numerical modeling of costal hydrodynamic processes (Brizzolara & Stura, 1998; Brizzolara & Brizzolara, 2004). The integrated simulation model will couple a high fidelity Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) numerical solver in the near shore domain with a time or spectral domain deterministic model to predict the wave shoaling with tide/current/wind effects from the offshore to the surf region. Among the existing wave transformation models, we will particularly consider the FVCOM developed at UMass Darmouth and WHOI, which is a well validated 3D offshore hydrodynamic model that has been recently integrated with a third generation spectral wave model (SWAVE), supported also by MIT-SG and successfully applied to Massachusetts coast.; and Mike21 NSW and BW models of the Danish Hydraulic Institute, that have been extensively validation for different coastal hydraulic problems and effectively used to design the two mentioned interventions. The new high-fidelity model based on an enhanced version of the SPH solver (Monaghan, 1992), highly parallelized on GPGPU cards, will efficiently eliminate most of the empiricism currently utilized at various levels, allowing a significant step forward in the accurate assessment of the resilience properties of different coastal structures, building and infrastructures. The model, in fact, will be capable of accurately reproducing the wave propagation and the run up phenomena on sloped beach (Angelini R.R & Brizzolara S. 2014) and to supplying impact forces and water elevation in complex topographies and/or urbanized areas of the coast, evolving the physical processes from the most general (and best known) offshore conditions where the spectral or time domain wave transformation model is applied. Over all the SPH model can be used to define the shape, the dimension and the response of the multi-function submerged coastal structures and to study the innovative system for energy production from wave or current. The coupled model is expected to bring a major step forward in the prediction of nearshore hydrodynamic processes with respect to the current state of the art (Wolf et al., 2008; Zhang et al., 2004). A much higher fidelity to the real physical processes will be achieved, allowing for important non-linear interaction effects due to complex bathymetries and rigid coastal profiles (i.e. wall overtopping and dune breaching) that are not currently considered by any state of the art code.

TimeLapse: Watch 27 Years of 'Old' Arctic Ice Melt Away in Seconds

01:00
Watch 27 Years of 'Old' Arctic Ice Melt Away in Seconds. The total amount of Arctic sea ice is near record low for this time of year. The amount of ice isn't the only big story, though. A video from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration shows a disturbing trend in the age of Arctic ice. Since 1988, Arctic sea ice is getting younger, and young ice is not a good thing. In 1988, ice that was at least 4 years old accounted 26 percent of the Arctic's sea ice. By 2013, ice that age was only 7 percent of all Arctic sea ice. The vanishing act is occurring because climate change is helping warm the ocean waters in parts of the Arctic. Those warmer temperatures are whittling away at older sea ice during the summer melt season. Replacing this thicker, harder old ice with young ice, which is generally thinner and melts more easily, is also contributing to the steep decline in summer sea ice extent and could trigger a feedback loop. That's because less ice means more dark ocean water is exposed to the sun, which absorbs more of the incoming sunlight than white ice. That means warmer waters, which could in turn mean even less old ice and ice cover with each passing year. climate change al gore global warming proof ice melting arctic

Alistair Hobday: Climate change and coastal systems -- past and present

53:46
The consequences of human activities increasing concentrations of atmospheric greenhouse gases are already being felt in marine environments. More energy has been trapped in the global climate system, resulting in warming sea temperatures. About 30% of the extra atmospheric carbon dioxide has been absorbed by the oceans, increasing their acidity. Thermal expansion and some melting of land-based ice has caused sea level to rise. Significant climate changes have now been observed in Australian coastal seas, especially off south-eastern Australia. These south-eastern waters are a climate change 'hotspot', with marine waters warming at more than three times the global average. The changes will affect Australia's marine biodiversity, fisheries and aquaculture sectors in different ways, and the management of coastal marine regions. For example, global warming is resulting in poleward movements for a range of species, potentially improving offshore fishing opportunities for more topical species, while also threatening vulnerable southern species including abalone and rock lobster. Overall these biological changes are creating significant challenges for natural resource management, particularly due to shifting baselines and lack of sustained ocean monitoring. At the coast, interactions between human development pressures and natural resource management will intensify -- integrated adaptation solutions developed as part of comprehensive adaptation pathways are needed to ensure sustainable use of the marine environment in the face of these unprecedented changes.
