So when we design the formal structure of an organization, it should improve rather than obstruct process performance. But all too often, the structure and the processes are poorly aligned. Accountability for process performance is blurred. Multiple layers of managers slow down decision making. Activities that should be tightly integrated are instead separated. How can we avoid this? In this video, I describe one approach. I present the FRAPS tool, which stands for "Framework for Aligning Processes and Structure": The tool is particularly useful when you evaluate two sets of processes or two sets of roles against each other. Here are some examples: - "Marketing and sales -- should they be grouped together or should they remain separate (and report to two different managers?) - Should we outsource manufacturing (and by implication, separate it from engineering, which is still going to be internal)? - Should customer support and sales be integrated? Although the tool itself is simple -- it is just a 2x2 diagram - it summarizes a large body of theory and research on organization design. The principle behind the diagram is powerful yet frequently neglected. The purpose is to ensure that the formal structure (in particular, the boundaries between units) matches the resource and information flows. It's actually the majority of the knives that we have at home are Global. It's thinner blade on cutting edge than some of the knives. And the advantage to the thinner blade, it's less drag and stays sharper a little bit longer. The downside is you can damage it. This knife is semi-flexible, so you have a little bit of flexibility to it. It has a guard built in so your hand stays back. This one also is all metal and they do have these little dimples in it to keep your hand from sliding and a lot of people go, you know, "It's going to be too slippery", don't find it slippery at all. And with the shape on it, when you go to grip it, you're gripping it in this manner, you pretty much have it locked into your hand so you're not going to have any trouble. But again it's a nice, flexible blade. Here we have a traditional Victorinox. It's what's used in a lot of the butcher shops, meat packing shops for years. This one, again, has a semi-flexible blade. It also comes in a completely stiff blade. But again, it's nice and narrow so you can get in. Any of them that have this kind of curve in it, if you're going through like chicken joints and wings and so forth, you don't want to use the tip of the blade because it's easy to break it off because there's not as much strength out there at the tip. You want to use back in the heel, where you pull the piece of meat up, and then push that bigger wedge through in order to cut through the joint. This one has a fiber ox handle, which is what's required in the butcher shops. They are no longer supposed to use wood, at least in the state of California, and it's a very good value. If you want a really good knife, the Victorinox is a hard one to beat, and it is the same as the Swiss Army Knife company. Same manufacturer.

A product from one area should be identical to another produced in another area—it should be of the same quality and held to the same standards. This not only applies to products but processes as well. A global empire needs consistency and conformity to be successful. In this session, we will look at the elements of a successful Global Harmonization initiative, including: People: An organization needs someone to manage elements that are being tracked and make small changes—they need compromise. They must identify teams that will verify the process, oversee the process and ensure it is running smoothly, find common areas for standardization, and have teams travel to other sites to ensure the process is going as expected. Processes: The software needs to adapt to having multiple processes that are operating in a corporate standard. The characteristics of an effective process include being repeatable, adaptable to any system throughout the enterprise, having only one SOP and work instruction, and being auditable and scalable. Governance: Finally, without governance an organization may fall into a pattern of separation. Proper governance ensures that all standardized processes are followed exactly, by tracking progress, ensuring issues are resolved, and ensuring effective communication. Governance helps determine plans for future and change management prepares all users for adapting to the new process. This session will further explain the benefits of Global Harmonization such as consistency, lowered cost of system administration, and increased visibility across the enterprise. It will demonstrate how Global Harmonization allows facilities to be synced up in how their corporate culture approaches quality. It ultimately allows different sites to speak the same language because they will be following a common framework—while remaining unique.

In the end, Samuel Beníquez prevails through a DNA test which proves that said religious leader was in fact his biological father, vindicating his biological mother and setting a legal precedent in family and adoption cases which will be forever recorded in history. Without doubt, the reader will be shocked to discover that even in the 21st century the power of some religious sects and the people who exercise it shows no mercy towards the victims.

"The increased use of recyclable PET, the growing popularity of family-pack bottles, and a shift towards light-weight bottles that use less PET are some of the trends that might harm the growth in demand for PET, which in turn will affect demand for PTA," says Dabholkar. "Moreover, the slowing consumption of soft drinks from increasingly health-conscious populations, coupled with a decline in demand for packaged drinking water, is expected to damage the PET market even further."
