Mostly because many HR Departments have been unable to establish themselves as key strategic players. Partly because the HR function is perceived as a support function and therefore (not correctly) just as an admin function. Is there a solution to this conundrum? Yes! Mismanagement of the people aspect of M&A is the cause of more than half of failures of these operations. On one side the HR function has to take responsibility and step up to the challenge and on the other side there is a requirement for most execs and front office function to acquire the skills that will enable them to deal with cross border M&As efficiently.
