MBA preparation for CAT EXAM VIDEOS BY Placement Boat. CAT Exam preparation Interview Tips and Suggestion by Pankaj Thukral Candidate Profile:- Name: Pankaj Thukral Education: SRCC CAT Score : - 99.82 percentile ( 2015 ) IIFT Score : 99.9 percentile ( 2015 ) Interview calls received from the following colleges:- All IIM’s Converted Calls:- All IIM calls converted except IIM - K. Finally made a way to IIM –A ( PGP – 2016-18) for admission. IIM interview held at Chandigarh. Interview Panel - 2 professors of IIM Ahmedabad. Interview Topic:- 1) It basically revolved around Pankaj - 1st introduction of Pankaj - One specific thing which Pankaj has done in his college. Pankaj was a President of a society in his college. So the interview panel picked up a topic “Whether for a society to conduct such a large scale fest is viable or not?” Should, we rather donate that money to some other institution where people don’t even have the capability buy books even. That’s where the discussion revolved around. Pankaj was stressing on “ How important it is for students of that age to have an experience for being a leader, of being a team and organising major events. They are going to be mangers of the future, so why not to start now. At the same time, he also highlighted that they will also donate the part of funds to NSS of their college, which would organise events for poor people who couldn’t access to higher education. In a way, they will try to contribute to the society in every possible manner. And if not the students then the company will try to advertise in a different manner. So it is a mix of things that he would propose to do. That’s how Pankaj tried to justify. It lasted for the next half n hour. The interview panel tried to put forward their points too about the same. They tried to counter the points and didn’t settle with the points which Pankaj raised. However, the key to it is to talk logically and make sure you stick to your points. If you are just moving around between saying that’s fair or that’s completely wrong then they are not going to select you. They realise that you don’t have any decision-making power. On the interview day, you start with an Academic writing test. You are given a piece of a case study and you are asked for to identify the underlined assumptions and critically analyse the steps that have been taken in the case study also potentially provide any other solution. After that you head to the interview room wherein for Pankaj had 2 interviewers in the panel both of them are the professors from IIM – A. They started with Pankaj’s introduction and from introduction itself they would pick up something that they would like to discuss. Pankaj would like to mention about one thing that every interview is different because in another panel you probably will be asked about your academics or your G.K. So the aspiring candidates shouldn’t look at only one interview and think that this is how it going to happen. So take it differently because every interview is different. Tips & Suggestions (CAT exam tutorial videos and suggestions) - Those who are looking forward to taking CAT exam don’t look it as a paper but look it as it somewhere where you are required to open up your mind. - Think about the things that you are not just doing learning about formulae’s but it is about something to improve your life. - Give lots of Mocks - One thing about CAT that is really required is practice because you will get used to the kind of questions you will be getting in CAT. Especially for DI, LR and VA taking up mocks is the best thing to do it for yourself. - Avoid taking tensions. It’s not a do or die situation. If you are not able to clear it you have many other options to explore. - Give your best and stay positive. Subscribe to Placement Boat to view more such interview experiences.

CAT EXAM MBA PREPARATION VIDEOS BY Placement Boat. CAT Exam Interview Tips and Suggestion by Pankaj Thakral Candidate Profile:- Name: Pankaj Thakral Education: SRCC CAT Score : - 99.82 percentile ( 2015 ) IIFT Score : 99.9 percentile ( 2015 ) Interview calls received from the following colleges:- All IIM’s Converted Calls:- All IIM calls converted except IIM - K. Finally made a way to IIM –A ( PGP – 2016-18) for admission. Strategy used while preparing. Tips & Suggestions ( MBA Preparation tips and suggestions for the future aspirants ) MBA preparation Tip#1- Take every section individually:- ( MBA preparation Tip#1) No one fixed strategy for CAT, but what applied in the case of Pankaj that he took each section separately. For eg. In Quant section, take it step by step. Like Alchemist, they have defined 5 module on how to take it step by step. Complete one module at a time & you will find a width time once you have completed all modules. You will have a good perfect hold and you will see you have completed Quant very comprehensively. MBA preparation Tip 2# - Give as many mock tests as possible ( MBA preparation Tip#2) Go for class 12th books & 10th books, anything that helps you. Just make sure that you have a grasp of the concept that you are studying. Not important that you go into a lot of depth but make sure that you have a good idea about the basics. For other section – DI, LR Pankaj believes that there is no fixed strategy for it. What you require a lot of practice. You need to practice a lot of questions because what is important for DI, LR & English is Time Management. If you were given 5 hours for each section you will attempt each question perfectly. What you need to do is to manage your time, you need to pick questions, you need to make sure that you do those questions first which you are most comfortable with. MBA preparation Tip#3- Prioritize your questions smartly to be more efficient For eg:- In Quant section – Pankaj would suggest opening up the entire question paper once. He would check all the 30 questions at once, basically give a quick glance just in 2 minutes. Note down 5-7 questions which you can do very quickly do them first. What you have is within 5 minutes you completed 7- questions and you can take everything else more comfortably. MBA preparation Tip#4- Read a lot For English, he wouldn’t recommend a lot of going through English Dictionaries that doesn’t help much. What helps is reading – Reading novels, reading anything you like, reading sports news, reading the newspaper don’t just help you help in CAT. But also help you in the interview and even otherwise also they are very important part of life. So that is Pankaj’s strategy to take each section separately, give as many as mock as you can, do a lot of practice but make sure that your concepts are right because that is the most important part of CAT. How did your institute help you? Pankaj joined Alchemist in 2015 to prepare for CAT and one thing that stood out for Pankaj that Alchemist works towards opening up your mind and not just make you cramp certain set of formulas. So you are here to learn certain things that will also help you to prepare for other competitive exams. Also, the flexibility Alchemist provides that stands apart because Pankaj could attend his classes near his college in the North Campus or near to his house in other places. So that flexibility is really vital to you when you are preparing for CAT. Also, they have a modular system that means if you find a particular module difficult you can repeat it multiple numbers of times. Pankaj repeated Geometry module for thrice. He felt that he needed help more there. In a way, it helps you to make sure that you stick to your strengths but also improves your weakness. One to One Mentorship Programme – So lastly another very important feature is that it has one to one mentorship session. Teachers are more of like friends they don’t just help you for CAT but for any other thing that you need help in. So for that Pankaj vouch for Alchemist. Here you get the flexibility to attend the same classes through the online programme which are going on during the weekdays and also to get set of recorded videos. So that it ensures that you don’t miss any of the classes. - There were a couple of Boost Camp which were organised in the month of August & October. - Both the Boost Camp were of 10 days with regular 12hour of classes. - After the completion of Boost Camp it will ensure a big amount of difference in the performance. - For Quant section, questions discussed in the class was more than enough. For eg:- In Geometry and number systems more than 500 questions were discussed in the class itself. - And for some other topics if the student felt the need to practice more, then there was an online site provided by Alpha Numeric where one could practice as many questions as they want. - For DI & LR, Hitesh practiced questions that were discussed in the classes. Additionally they practice for 2-3 hours per day during the 20 days Boost Camp session. - Several resources available online to practice for DI & LR - Giving time based section test, it will help to improve speed and accuracy. Job interview - EY (Ernst and Young) | question and answer

03:49
This video is the placement experience of Harshit in EY. EY is one of the huge firms working on four sectors : auditing, tax, consulting, and financial consulting The profile was for ITRA(IT Risk and Assurance). The cut-off set for the profile was 60% and the placement procedure consisted of two Group discussions and one interview. Group discussions are generally carried out with basic topics like ‘e-commerce’. Group discussions must be handled stress-free and with honed up focus. Group discussions are easy to crack when you start or conclude the discussion in an attention-grabbing way. The Group discussion must be sustained in an active way avoiding the boring stuffs. The second round was the Personal interview which started with HR interview which involved basic questions like “tell me about yourself?” to “What are your hobbies?”. One of the chief concern in this round is to accept when the interviewer asks for any problems regarding travelling. This position involves a lot of travelling and hence, there must be no doubtfulness. Second phase of personal interview was the technical interview round which was entirely based on the curriculum vitae. The projects done (both technical and non-technical) are requested to be explained in detail. Case studies are brought up to be solved. The case study asked for Harshit was that ‘If TATA server is on fire, what would be the solutions that you would come up?’ Nice and perfect answers for these questions boost the chance of getting placed in EY. The key elements of getting placed in EY is to focus on the CV details and to have a wide knowledge about the company’s background. CAT Exam | Preparation Tips - How To Prepare For CAT?

07:19
Interviewee Name is Ishita Agarwal who scored 99.52 percentile in the CAT exams of 2016. She was a student of Hansraj College who did Economics hons while also doing her CAT preparation, and now she is joining IIM Calcutta 2017-2018 after getting calls from IIM- Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow and Indore. Why MBA? I decided to go for MBA because I wanted to be a social entrepreneur and have an impact on the society which is really needed. How did you prepare for CAT? I took up coaching at Alchemist due to a friend's recommendation. It's modular system allowed me to take classes according to my convenience which really helps with DU being so hectic with different co-curriculars going on simultaneously. Also, the best part was that my institute had a personal touch to the teaching. Mentors were available all the time and we could sit in groups anytime and study together whenever we were free. What was your strategy? My basic strategy was that I finished the syllabus in July and started doing previous year mock papers which gave me an idea of how the paper is like. I analyzed all my papers thoroughly to find out my weak areas and work upon them. What sources did you rely on? I used the Alchemist worksheets and the online material available on the Alchemist website. I also gave the online mock tests which really help us to know our position. How did you manage your time? I tried to finish my syllabus by July so that when college opened, I wouldn't have to worry about studying much for CAT. After that, I took papers every day of each section mostly. After September, I did one paper each every day to prepare for CAT. What was your strategy on the day of CAT? Practicing beforehand makes you realize which question to attempt and which to not. My RC was strong and Verbal was not, so I planned accordingly. Similarly, I planned how to attempt the other two sections as well. Some tips? A. Take a lot of mock papers. B. Analyze your weak points and work on them again and again. c. Focus a lot on DI and LR as it is really tough. D. Practice RCs and Maths regularly. The more you do, the better you get. What questions were asked in your interviews? It gets quite intimidating because they really try to grill you. The biggest agenda is to not get nervous and be confident. Secondly, you have to be thorough with your subject, both text book wise and otherwise. Also, within your subject, you should know of various reference books available and what basic content it holds. How did your institute help? The best part was that my institute let us sit in groups anytime and study together whenever we were free. That really helped me as it allowed us to solve each other's questions. Also, there were faculty members always around to answer our queries who would never say no. Other than that, the mentor-ship at Alchemist always advised us on what we need to do to improve our weaker sides. The Mock tests let us analyze our strengths and weaknesses and the mentors advised us based on the performances in the mock tests. How did Placement Boat help you? Placement Boat gave me an idea about how the questions and interviews are and how to go about my interviews. For more information, stay tuned to Placement Bloat for CAT preparation videos.

Earlier attempt score is as follows:- 82 percentile - 1st Attempt 92 percentile – 2nd Attempt Interview calls received from the following colleges after 3rd attempt:- IIM-L, IIM-K, IIM-I, IIM-S, IIM-S, MDI, SP Jain, SCMHRD, SIBM Pune Converted Calls:- All calls were converted. Finally made a way to IIM-L for admission. Strategy you opted for preparation? (cat exam tutorial ) Following strategies adopted by Nitika for CAT preparation:- No formal classroom training. The online videos helped her to catch up on the lectures, whenever she could get time. (http://www.pagalguy.com/ ) Being a working professional, she had very little or no time to study on the week days therefore she did all her studying on weekends. Resources used for preparation:- Three step preperation strategy-1- 1-Going through the lectures regularly. 2-Taking sectional tests to build up speed on every topic 3-Solving previous year's question papers to ensure better understanding. All the question papers and sectional tests were available on the AlphaNumeric website, along with the solutions. The Alphanumeric website course material was more than sufficient and Nitika did not feel the need to refer to any other sources. The programme she chose was a very detailed one and contained all the questions from the basic to the advanced level. All she did was to religiously follow the course. (cat exam preparation videos) The alpha numeric boot camps were helpful. The 10 day camp was held twice, once in August and then again in October. The sessions were for 12 hours, from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. , it was difficult but after the third day, Nitika was able to sit for 5-6 hours. The boot camp helped her realize her weak areas and work on them. Though the lectures were online, the chat facility came handy in raising doubts and the chat was readily answered. During the sectional tests, though there were setailed descriptions but there was an option open where we could ask the doubts by typing in the question and sending it to the faculty. Personal doubt clearing sessions were also held. IIM interview experience The interview has two stages:- 1- 15 minute quant. 2- Personal Interview Questions- Tell us something about yourself. Questions on the work experience. Why MBA? GATE| Preparation for Civil Engineering- Interview by Topper

02:42
Interviewee Name is Rohit Sachdeva who got an AIR 93 scoring 872/1000 in the GATE exams of 2017. He was a student of Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) doing civil engineering. How did you prepare for GATE? I did my coaching long back in 2011. I already had my notes from the coaching and started started studying. Since I was also working, I knew I had to put in a lot of efforts into this. What was your strategy? I got hold of last three years' question papers and started analyzing the difficulty level and what all topics were covered and how much. I started my preparation in September 2016 and tried to cover all the basic topics in detail in around 2 months. After that I started with my revisions where I took online mock tests and subject-wise tests which allowed me to know my strengths and weaknesses. Knowing these, I again started working on my weak areas. In around January, I started giving full mock tests before the actual GATE exam to have a proper idea about the real exam. CAT EXAM 2018 | How to prepare for CAT 2018

03:34
Interviewee Name is Arpit Agarwal who scored 99.16 percentile in the CAT exams of 2018. He was a student of SRCC who did BCom hons while also doing his CAT preparation, and now is joining IIM-Ahmedabad. Why MBA? Firstly, you have to know why you want to do an MBA. If you're only passionate about it, only then you should go for it because it requires a lot of effort. Secondly, there are 3 sections- Quant, LR/DI and English and you have to find out your weaknesses. It becomes easier if you are good with reading and comprehension, it helps with all the other sections. A coaching is advisable as it gives you a clear picture of the trend of questions in CAT exam preparation over the years and how to go about preparing for it. . What was your strategy on the day of CAT? Since the paper is of 3 hours, I divided the 3 sections into 3 hours each. I focused on the particular section in the particular hour only. I focused on accuracy and not on a large number of questions. I attempted only 55 questions which is actually less for a 99+ percentile. Instead of wasting time on anything and everything, it is better to focus on accuracy of the attempts. How did Placement Boat help you? I really like the idea of Placement Boat as it gives an idea from a large number of people who share their experience for the ones who need it.
